Fixtures in the room are a bit beat up.

So...Hampton Inn. It's got a brand standard, which is usually pretty good which is why we use it as a go-to on family travel like as not ---and this location is below that standard. We got an OK night's sleep and it seemed reasonably safe and secure (we had two rooms), although perhaps both of these things were helped by being at the very end of the floor. It was clean enough so that's enough to get us to three stars. But there were a ton of little things that were just off. The hallway floors CREAK abominably. I could hear it creak through the room door, and when I walked down the hall I thought I was in the Addams Family mansion. The rooms were unfathomably dim. No overhead lights in the main rooms, but only the two bedside lamps and an unreconfigurable desk lamp provided additional illumination outside the pretty dim foyer. All this is pretty harsh LED. Harsh and low lumens is not the way to go. There were dings and knicks on the furniture down at ground level (see illustration for bathroom). No microwave. The TV had no paper channel guide. No note pads (we like to leave a thank you note for the room cleaner with our cash tip). Not even a local amenities guide, which given the lack of food options right around the hotel (and nothing in the lobby) would have been helpful in other circumstances. It felt sort of like we were staying in a set, or a staged room. We also got vibrations and thuds *through the headboards of the beds* every time somebody within five or so rooms of us opened or closed a door. See also: creaking floors. We also got an oddly large amount of noise from outside -- you could hear people on the sidewalk and parking lot too well. It wasn't a night-long problem and the hotel is oriented so you don't get Route 9 noise, but the soundproofing was not good. Breakfast was adequate -- make your own waffles (pumpkin spice waffle mix was nice, but with only one maker and some kids playing with it when we breakfasted, stuck at the end of a nook it was awkward), oatmeal was watery but they had multiple toppings, a limited range of cereals but sufficient, micro omelettes, middling baked goods, tiny yoplaits, slightly underripe fruit, and the standard coffee you can get 24/7 in the lobby doubled for breakfast. The plates and cups were all disposable, which I understand, but it's 2022, at least have plates and mugs that don't add to a landfill, at least at this level of a place. So see all the nits I picked? Any of them in isolation, not a problem. Throw them all together, we just got the impression it was down in the mouth. The emblem of our visit was looking at the US, Massachusetts, and Hampton inn flags flapping in the wind, and seeing how faded and tattered all three were. That's a sign somebody's not bothering to invest in this place. Seeing a frayed Old Glory isn't going to affect most people's stay but it added to the feeling we just needed to get out and move on. The front desk staff on check in (on a holiday) were excellent, fwiw, and checkout completely painless. Clean enough.

This Hampton Inn is located off the main road evenly situated between Northampton and Amherst. Route 9 traffic noise was non-existent. The room was very clean. Even the air vents were very clean(first time in ten years of using HI's that this happened). Cudo's to the housekeeping staff. We had a nice view of trees from our window. They even had their signature chocolate chip cookies in the lobby.

Decor pleasant

Would not accommodate a disabled person and demanded two night minimum. Dave was the manager rude and dismissive.

Pro - location. Northampton is a great little town…read more Also, the front desk staff is extremely friendly and is doing their best to go above and beyond. But, I had to knock off a star because the Wifi in the rooms doesn't work. This is a massive disappointment for what is supposed to be a modern hotel. As is the case with technical things, I assumed it was a me problem. The friendly front desk staff explained that the public WiFi works fine but the guest Wifi is problematic. This means that after driving for 2 hours and arriving hangry and with hours worth of work to do, I have to sit in the lobby to get anything done. It is challenging to focus because there are other groups here talking. I am loyal to the Marriott brand and have the gold lifetime elite to prove it, but I don't think I will stay in this hotel again. After a day of work, I want to be able to settle in my room, order some food, take my bra off, and do the work I need to do to get ready for the next day. So I must say, this is a huge disappointment.

Very clean and well organized, disability friendly hotel. Decent parking and friendly people…read more Breakfast was ok with very good coffee and a number of options hot and cold. They have wine and beer for sale. Neither selection is great but duckhorn reds are a strong option. No IPAs for beer and that's disappointing. Wifi was also disappointing and the TV was very strange, rebooting several times before we could watch anything. Hot water seemed limited when we were there but perhaps they were booked up and we were all using it at once? We enjoyed our stay and will return.

I had been at the Hotel Northampton before and loved it. I thought it would be the perfect place…read moreto celebrate 35 years of marriage with my wife. It turned out I was mistaken. We expected to be in the main building and were disappointed to be placed in the Gothic Garden out building. The first room we were in had a broken air conditioner and the temperature of the room was 78. After speaking to the staff a man in a suit with a walkie talkie came over. He tried but failed to open a window and poked at something on the air conditioner unit. Nothing changed and about 3 hours later, I went to the main building to report it. Amazingly, they had a room upstairs. The air conditioner worked in this room, however it was fighting with the 78 degree temperature and went on for 20 minutes then off for 20 minutes repeating this cycle all night. It would have been ok if it didn't sound like a jet engine at the foot of the bed. And the mattress was so pillowy that you couldn't move once on it. Neither my wife nor I slept and not for a good reason. When I checked out, I mentioned the discomfort and noise and the staff only wanted to know if I wanted my receipt on paper or by email. Highly disappointing and expensive mistake.

The hotel was fine, the restaurant was not. Ive had good meals there in the past but, perhaps…read morebecause they are between managers, dinner was pretty sad. The Tuscan Salad was missing several ingredients mentioned in the menu, included rotten pieces of lettuce, and was overladen with roasted garlic cloves. (After the first 5 or so I opted out of the remaining 10.) The balsamic dressing was way too sweet. I only got it because they were out of the one i wanted - they were out of a lot of dishes. My dining companion noted that his food wasn't very warm, the carrots were inedible, and did I mention it took a long time for our food to come even though there were hardly any other diners ? Finally, we had a lemon cream cake for dessert that was almost painfully sweet.
