This hotel is beautiful and clean!! The staff is friendly and very quick with requests. I needed a microwave for my son, and they had it to our room within 5 minutes. It is worth every penny. If we ever come back to Durango, we will most definitely stay here. I'd like to add that this was a spur of the moment choice after staying at another horrible hotel, but it was the best decision we made on this trip. The room was brand new and clean. The mattress was firm and comfy. The pillows were soft and just right. Loved it! We asked for housekeeping service only one day out of the four nights we stayed and they forgot to clean it. Breakfast was delicious and they had a lot of options. Great hotel, but it is the staff that made this stay exceptional! They are super friendly, extremely accommodating and worked well as a team! From the time we checked in, they actually treated us as if they were glad to see us, gave us great information and tips about the area and restaurants. Breakfast was good, but the breakfast staff member was so accommodating and kept the area very clean. They greeted us every time we came through the lobby. The rooms were very clean, tv was mediocre (minimal functions for a hotel T this price), bed was comfortable, rooms could stand more insulation (shower and flushing toilets from adjacent rooms were very loud, as was the tv from other room). The parking lot was large enough to accommodate our truck and small utility trailer, which was important. Just know that the parking lot is on a hill. The hotel is a little further from town and restaurants (not within walking distance), but in their defense, they have a nice selection of microwavable items. Very nice rooms. All basic amenities available here. Very clean from rooms to lobby everywhere. Digital key feature is worth try. Courteous staff too. Fresh complementary cookies , even coffee tasted very good. I just felt room are little small for the price of $170 per night. And this is one of the far hotels from Durango downtown even though distance is just 2.5 miles. No restaurant in less than 0.5 miles except one American bbq. The hotel is infested with bugs, they try to tell you that they are harmless and you might find a few in your room, but there are 100s in the bedding and crawling around. They did not tell us in advance and we could ourselves without a room thousands of miles from home. Avoid!! read more

Nice Property. I checked in electronically for our overnight stay but we were greeted as soon as we walked thru the door. Lobby area is well presented, clean & tidy. Sanitizer & paper towels are plentiful, even in the elevator. Digital key worked fine. Room furnishing was up to date, spotless, with very comfy bed and pillows. We had a great night sleep with no disruption due to outside noise. Breakfast was as expected given COVID restrictions but I'll be happy when it's back to normal. A couple of things could be added in the bathroom. (1) In the tub/shower there is a grab bar on the inside. For older customers like myself, it would be very helpful to have an additional grab bar near the outside edge of the tub/shower. It really helps getting in & out of the tub. (2) Two towel hooks on the wall next to the tub would be nice for wet towels. Currently there is only one. read more

Typical Hampton Inn. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. No big surprises except I requested a guest room that had not had pets in it and was told the property is ALL pet friendly. There were no rooms that were pet free. I get the pet friendly amenity is nice for pet owners but there should be maybe a floor without pets e.i. no barking, dog hair, etc. I was "assured" rooms are thoroughly cleaned but... Also I am thinking bed linens could be replaced. Gray/yellow means old and worn out. Realize also the property will warn you that right now is box elder bug season and you may see a few around your room. read more

Last minute stay BUT it was GREAT! We had our two dogs with us so we really needed a dog friendly space and 99% of the time you risk quality when you being pets BUT NOT HERE!! This was our first stop on our first trip since COVID. Unfortunately, it didn't look like the room had had much of a cleaning before we got the key. I pulled back the comforter on one of the beds, 2 brunette hairs. I went to use a washcloth in the bathroom, a brunette hair stuck to the towel. Lifted the toilet lid, a brunette hair on the seat. Underneath the bathroom sink, a used wadded up tissue. The woman at the front desk just said asked if I wanted a new towel, not if she could send someone up to take care of the issues. I realize times are weird and everything is unusual, but I've stayed in lots of hotels before COVID and I've never walked in to such a poor cleaning. read more

I am the primary caregiver to my father as he lives with me in Austin, TX. My father fell ill on Christmas Eve while visiting my brother. I flew into Durango to deal with it and bring Dad back home when he got discharged. Hampton was wonderful! They gave me a quiet room on the third floor at the end of the hall. They allowed me to use the microwave to make my dinners. The day I got Dad discharged one of the maids helped me get him into the room. As I was unable to plan anything they worked with me so much.They even allowed me to have a late check out as to not to move Dad until it was time for our flight. Everything is standard Hampton. The white sheets and comforters. The yummy breakfast. Pool and spa. Very clean and updated. TV has enough channels. Little refrigerators to keep snacks. Have been basing out of this hotel for years for hiking and skiing missions. Clean facility with refrigerator in room,but no microwave. Their post Covid breakfast is super. Staff very attentive and good selection of hot and cold breakfast items. Location good, can walk down to the Serious Texas BBQ. Have probably stayed here more than 25 times and never an issue. The staff was friendly. I ended up doing a walking booking because my other half booked for the wrong month. The problem started their. She booked us in for one night instead of two. So come back to the hotel at 11:30 am and our keycards don't work. That's when I found out she had only put us in for one night. Get back to our room and 6pm to 9:40 a dog a few door down is barking none stop. Go say something to the front desk and the answer I get is we are a pet friendly hotel. I have 4 dogs but I would not want or expect anyone to listen to them bark for that long. The rooms were clean the beds were nice. We stay at Hampton Inns all over the US. However this is the first time we've attempted to stay at the one in Durango. Unfortunately it did not work out for us. Prior to booking, I looked at the reviews and photos online and they seemed okay. I also contacted the hotel to find out when it was last remodeled. Upon arrival I discovered it was not as it seemed online. When we arrived at the hotel the lobby did appear to have been remodeled within the last 5 years or so. It was clean and tidy and all Covid-19 protocols were being followed. The front desk personnel were professional and friendly. The room itself is where everything went wrong. There was a terrible smell inside the "suite", the furniture was stained, carpet was dirty, sheets were dirty, bathroom was dirty, one tv was missing, the other tv didn't work, and there were bugs crawling around. I've never had an experience like this at a Hampton Inn. I contacted the front desk and was informed that some TVs were missing from suites because guests in other rooms had broken their TVs. Not sure how that was relevant but it was also not my biggest issue. I asked to be moved but there were no more suites available. At this point I wanted to go to another hotel but it was 10:00 pm and we had been on the road 15 hours. I asked for any clean room available and they provided one. I cancelled the reservation for the rest of the week and switched hotels. read more

That said, I have also stayed in plenty of crappy places in some not so exotic client locations (Mexico and Nigeria comes to mind). It's a normal Hilton but minus the customer service and decent breakfast. There was a mango smoothie at breakfast. I got excited to drink it, as I love mangoes! But they ruined it with banana. I hate banana. What if I was allergic? There was no warning to tell me about the prescense of this atrocious fruit. I tasted the banana and gagged. I felt the few amount of food that was still in my system from my burrito dinner the night before crawl up my throat. On top of the lack of banana, the juice machine was broken! What am I supposed to drink? Water? Ugh. Save the clean water for the Africans. Give me apple juice! Last night, I was flexible enough to sleep on the pullout bed. The only problem was that we didn't have enough pillows. Which was fine, so we called room service. They put us on hold. Twice. How is it so difficult to give us two simple pillows? Impossible, in fact. The stairway must have been rigged with explosives. What other reason is there not to deliver two pillows to our room? We were on hold for 10 minutes u till we gave up. My poor sweet mother had to give me one of her pillows so that I may rest and not regurgitate my delicious yet filling burrito. read more

I stayed here with my Alpine ski team for the high school state championship and was thankful for the quick check-in process and helpfulness of the staff. The breakfast in the mornings was perfect so our team could eat all together without spending money at the resort. My only complaint would be that our bus had to park across the 4 lane highway because of snow in the main parking area and cars taking the bus parking spot while we were out. Not a lot that could be done about that with the almost 4 feet Durango got while we were there. The hotel manager was helpful when we had to find another place to park a full sized school bus. Overall very happy with our stay and I know our team was thankful for the hottub and evening cookies! read more

Came to Ski, And this is one of the closest to the lifts. Very clean, everything in my room worked as it should. Fast free WiFi. Great free breakfast which saved me time and $$. Clean indoor saltwater pool and sauna to help the sore muscles after a long day skiing. Even had hot fresh cookies out in the evening. This is not your average motel, even the help went out of there way to make our stay more enjoyable. I will definitely be back to Durango and this is where we will stay. Good, clean hotel with a hot tub after a long day of skiing or sledding. A few downfalls but not major: The breakfast is disgusting, fake eggs which taste awful. Fruit is not very fresh and seems to have a simple syrup glaze or something. Toast also taste weird. We just decided to get breakfast every morning after trying the complementary breakfast. Beds are pretty uncomfortable with a little paper thin pillow :(. They offer fresh cookies in the lobby and they are sooo good. Dangerous but good. Fresh water, sometimes infused with cut fruits. Hot coffee and water for tea. A pretty good hotel as long as you aren't going to be laying around in your uncomfortable bed all day. read more
