During our ski weekend we stayed in the very posh to the Durango Holiday Inn Express. The Express is one of the few hotels in the central downtown part (otherwise you need to cross a river). Location is great and the hotel has a "newer" feel and a parking garage. There is a breakfast which offers a selection and what you would expect from a "free breakfast. But for a chain hotel downtown this is a very good option. There is even an exercise room.

unfortunately, this "NEW" hotel only gets 2 stars. We should have checked in at 2pm (elite member here :) We arrived around 1700 and our room was not ready. Apparently, there was a mix up with scheduling and housekeeping. The guests that have checked in, their rooms were not ready and my reservation was one of them. Poor girl, she was telling guests that if they had planned on visiting some place to go because their room wasn't quite ready. That's embarassing to tell a guest especially knowing this is a new hotel. Guess new doesn't mean they have this sh!t together. As my fiancé and I waited in the lobby for our room (up to or more than 60 minutes), I decided to walk the floors and the hallways to see if I can find a cart since there weren't any available down in the lobby. No luck. Walking the floors, it looked as if the hallway carpets weren't even vacuumed. For this to be new, you would think it would be clean but wasnt. . If you are reading this and you are one of those guests that do not return the carts where you found them, it helps the hotel when you return it down where you found it. Thank you very much. Anyways, I Went downstairs to see if there were any left down there. Nada. Didnt have to wait in line behind 6 people to get my keycards (thank you whoever was up at the front-never got her name. She didn't introduce herself-not her fault she had her plate full with managements housekeeping scheduling issue) Ended up just bringing our belongings up without a cart. I have severe low back pain and it was uncomfortable bringing my items up. It's not the reps fault, but management. Hopefully next time we decide to stay here we do not encounter this type of customer service and housekeeping scheduling issue. The view was beautiful though. Two stars for that and the effort of the front desk rep.

Dirty corner around doorframe. The other side looked the same. The staff did try to address the issue.

I think the earlier reviews are a result of opening during covid and a national labor shortage.

He left a person note to welcome us and clear signs to help us to find our room easily and connect to WiFi. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. It included bagels, muffins, hard boiled, coffee, juice, eggs, pastries, fruit... there are big-comfortable dining tables inside and outside on the deck. The back deck has lovely mountain views. There are lots hummingbirds and deer. The Inn is in a peaceful-quiet spot. You pull out of the short dirt road and go about 15 minutes straight down route 550 into downtown Durango for restaurants. The hot springs are about 8 minutes away. We sincerely appreciate the wonderful hospitality we experienced at this sweet inn.

This is a room on the main floor. Each morning we woke at 6:30, but I wasn't able to hear any noise other than a toilet flush here and there from other rooms. This was a huge win!! I feel as though all of us guests were a big family being respectful of each other's time, noise and peace level. The views are AMAZING. This place is nestled right in front of some beautiful Mountain Views. You get breakfast every morning including some yummy goodies, water is always available (big plus, we didn't have to buy water over and over!), and fresh cookies are always on the table! Downstairs is an area to watch TV with couches, table to relax or play games (provided). My husband and I truly felt like we were at home. This place was truly my favorite part of our entire trip. It was so great to have no stress where we laid our heads to sleep. Walter and Jodi are the best!! If you're on the fence about booking, this is your sign!! It's worth it.

We got the Homebody room, which had a king size bedroom, and a full-size pull out coach in the living room. Also a kitchen with all the utensils you'd need. The look of the apartment was definitely eclectic - bright shades of yellow and pink splashed across the walls. Plus, a polka dot bathroom. The decor was fun too. An old school radio, suitcase, and telephone were among the many items on the shelves. These rooms certainly aren't anything fancy, but everything was clean and tidy. It's nice that check in is contactless. You simply get a set of directions emailed to you once you book letting you know the code to get in. Parking is limited but they do give you a parking pass so you're all set. Also great is its location. Truly the center of downtown, within walking distance to all the shops, bars, restaurants, and coffee joints you could need. The one bummer was a leaking ceiling in our unit's bathroom. Hopefully they get that sorted ASAP because it was quite bad. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to travelers passing through!

We booked a King Suite. We didn't plan to use the kitchenette but we appreciated having the extra space to spread out. The bed was comfortable and overall the room was clean. When we stayed there was not maid service other than trash pickup and a towel refresh. The hotel has a hot breakfast that starts at 6:30am. We appreciated the convenience of a quick bite to eat before heading out for our daily adventure. Overall breakfast was satisfying. We particularly liked the tortilla, egg, bacon and potato casserole dish. The hotel is located several miles from historic Durango where many of the town's popular restaurants and shops are located. We were fine with driving to historic Durango but there are some hotel options that are within walking distance of the historic district. As far as amenities, the hotel has a gym, indoor pool and hot tub and guest laundry. The laundry room was clean and had two "speed queen" washers and two dryers. The wash cycle was a speedy 23 minutes but the dry cycle was more like 50 minutes. I definitely appreciated being able to wash our hiking clothes before heading to our next destination. One thing that really impressed me about the hotel is that I left an item behind and they called me to let me know. I stay in a lot of hotels each year and although I don't leave stuff behind too often, I don't think many of them would take the initiative to call a guest about a lost item. A few minor nits - there was leftover drinks and food in our fridge from the previous guest that I thought house keeping should have cleared out. Also, the sodas in the vending machine are expired. One Diet Coke I got expired four months ago and the other Diet Coke I got expired six months ago. The irony is that the hotel is located next to the Coca-Cola distribution plant.
