    Worst appliance buying experience ever! Went to HD on 12/17. Rude employee starts typing up a sales…read moreslip after I asked her about a specific washing machine. Oh, we don't have it. Well, could you show me one like it? No. So I have to pay for my item sight unseen. I order online. Why bother going to the store? Given 3 delivery dates. Took time off the first 2 times. Third time, I said, I'm not taking anymore time off, deliver & install by 11am or I will cancel. We think it will be delivered possibly between 10:30 & 2:30. That doesn't work for me. Cancel & refund. Oh, that credit will be returned to your HD account. No, I don't want credit. I want my money back!! Will never buy anything from HD again.

    I want to write this quick recommendation of Home Deport in North Hampton, NH…read more I recently had a problem where I had set up a truck rental over the internet. When I got to the store the computer system wouldn't allow the rental to proceed. The attendant at the service desk worked to get around the issue but with no luck. She brought in the Customer Experience Manager, Glenn W., to escalate the issue. Up until now things were proceeding along with their typical solid efforts. But this is when it was kicked up to "11" and really took my breadth away. Glenn, the CEM, worked with people in other stores But eventually decided that the truck couldn't be rented to me due to the computer glitch. He could have just apologized to me, offered me a future rental at a discount or some other perk. He didn't. He did SO MUCH MORE. He offered to be my (his words not mine) "chauffeur for the day" and drive me to where I needed to go to pick up my things with the truck. He then spent an hour with me and helped me get things done in a reasonable time. To say the least I was blown away! I have always been impressed by Home Depot for their services. I can buy goods anywhere but I choose to buy them at Home Depot whenever possible because I know they have my back. Things happen; products have issues; computers get glitches. It's what a company does to help the customer when something happens that separates OK places from good places. And in this case - a great place. This is just the most recent and, frankly, most dramatic, example I can give. Kudos to Glenn and the entire Home Depot customer experience team in North Hampton, NH. You guys rock and you're one of the most important reasons why HD is my go to place for all things home improvement. Thanks very much, Rich W

    Update: Business owners contacted us, apologized and mailed us a check for our full refund…read more(received). They also provided us with a $100 gift card to compensate for our experience. We are supporters of local businesses. Our experience with Bemisters, however, has been among the worst experiences we have ever had with a business. We ordered adirondack chairs earlier in the year. Because of the color we wanted they were special ordered for which we would have to pay shipping. We agreed. Roughly 2 months after we ordered them they were delivered... to the store (not our home as we'd been told). We went to pick them up and discovered they were not the color we ordered. Store employee confirmed they were the wrong color - manufacturer error. They suggested we take these while they processed a replacement order. We did. Over the next 2+ months we followed up with Bemisters several times on the replacements. No one could give us status on the replacements. When follow up calls to us were promised they were never received. We finally got tired of waiting for the replacements, we called and said they should cancel the replacement order and we were returning the incorrectly colored ones for a refund. Store employee agreed. At first they said they would pick up the chairs at our home. They never did. We ultimately dropped the chairs off at the store (pictures attached). Store employee acknowledged the condition of the chairs (like new). We were told because of the time that had passed since the original order they would have to issue a refund by check (instead of back to our credit card). After two weeks without receiving a check we followed up by phone with the store. Now we were being told that the chairs needed to be shipped to their other store to determine their condition and decide whether a refund would be issued. Absolute nonsense. When we commented on the horrible customer service we were receiving, we received a sarcastic "that's what we strive for" from the store employee. One way or another, we will get our refund. And we will never do business with this business again.

    My husband and I woke up today with the decision that we are going to buy a new Weber grill and be…read moreprepared for next summer early! He had already gone to Ace hardware where although they were extremely nice, they unfortunately don't take away your old grill (buzz kill). He had been to Lowe's and Home Depot and the experience was pleasant but again they couldn't accommodate the delivery set up and removal of the old grill. I suggested we search in the Rye and Hampton area for another place that carries Weber grills, and he was not too keen on it saying we will not find one we will just have to order it at Home Depot and figure out how to magically make the other one go away! For the heck of it I called the pool and barbecue grill store in Hampton called Bemister's. The gentleman that answered the phone was extremely knowledgeable and said not only did they have the best prices on Weber grills but that the quality was different than the ones that they sell in the box stores which really surprised us. He went on to say that they have their own service that drops them off and sets them up but also will take away our old grill at a very reasonable price. We went down there to find an extremely gracious and knowledgeable salesperson who happens to be fourth generation in the company. By the time we left, not only were we thrilled that we made that call, but we are getting it delivered tomorrow which is a Sunday!!! I guess that's what the old fashion "mom-and-pop" businesses do! What a change in experiences from other places and refreshing to see the classic old fashion "we care about the client" attitude still exists. They are very dog friendly, hands-on, and accommodating. 6 stars!
