Now we want to sell our house and found that we needed to install something so that we could pass inspection. We looked at several options and could not wrap our heads around building something ourselves - we are definitely not contractors and not very successful do-it-yourselfers. I called and put feelers out for several contractors with no real bites. Thankfully, Randy reached out to us and offered to send Stephen out to give us a quote. Stephen came out and took a look at what we did and was so great - he didn't laugh at our handiwork. He promised us a quote by the following day and told us that he could build and install something within the same week. We received our quote and signed the paperwork... it was that easy. Stephen and his helper came out and built us the most beautiful stair railing. WThey were so friendly and unbelievably fast. We are amazed at the work they did, we almost don't want to sell our house... AND They even cleaned up everything after they were done. Did I say We were happy? Yes, we are happy. We will definitely be hiring them to help with our new house. Thanks Stephen and Randy!!

I will be working with Longhouse Construction again.

All of these remodels were completed in a timely manner and a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend JDI Construction for any projects you are considering doing. All in all, we are pleased with the outcome of the kitchen project.

We had purchased the house while still living in Austin, TX, and needed a contractor we could trust and work well with from a distance. Ashley and his team provided clear, realistic, and detailed estimates, and communicated well with us about what we wanted from our dream home. They updated both of our bathrooms, raised the ceiling in our kitchen, and updated the lighting and wiring through the house to add smart home features. We also threw a huge curveball at them during the planning phase of the project: we needed to add an elevator. They handled this new requirement with ease and delivered a home we are delighted with.

So hard to pick a star rating as there is both good and bad dealing with this contractor. We had a…read morecarport added to our 2 car garage and then a room above that entire area (so essentially above a 3 car area). It took 2 and 1/2 years to complete! Yes COVID was in the works and there was time off due to illness of both the contractor and his supervisor. However, there was also a 7 1/2 month period where NO WORK was done AT ALL. Excuse after excuse. The work was done well and we really like our new room. We have a beautiful knotty pine ceiling. The room is essentially three areas; a "family area" - sofa, chairs, coffee table, fireplace. A pool table in the middle and a sewing area in the 3rd area. The family area was supposed to be 14 feet from fireplace towards pool table area. It ended up being 11 feet! There was no conversation with us, the owners, that an error had been made by the architect and that the County had corrected and that changes would have to be made. Had there been discussion we might have been able to do some modifications which would have still allowed for the "family area" to be the 14 feet originally planned. The furniture I ordered for that area does not fit well now due to the reduction in size. Before the room was even completed we had a lien filed against our property as the Contractor hadn't paid one of his subs. We had to pay approximately $9,000 to get that lien eliminated. Luckily we still owed the Contractor money and were able to take it off the final payment. However, it took filing with the Contractors Construction Board (CCB) to get the Contractor to finish the work. Yesterday, after the job was finally completed in June, we received a Certified Letter that another sub-contractor had not been paid. I called the sub and they said they had been trying to get the Contractor to pay for over a year. Thankfully my call to the Contractor after receiving that letter resulted in the sub finally being paid today. To summarize, the work they do is very nice and our room is lovely! They were easy to have around and cleaned up after their work prior to leaving for the day. Had we not had all the delays or the liens/lack of payment to subs issues, I would recommend them. But 2 1/2 years is way too long to complete 1 large room above a garage. We received no apology or any financial reduction to compensate for the "family area" being 3 feet shorter than it was supposed to be. I would say that if someone reading this does go ahead with this particular Contractor you make certain that you hold back 50% of the project total until all work is completed. We were novices to this and our contract allowed for only a 10% final payment. There should also be a stipulation as to what the time period will be in which the work will be completed and if they don't comply with that provision there is a financial penalty.
