After months of delay, I finally got to try this place and it was everything I was hoping for and more. Killer hot sauce selection, delicious & perfectly-sized hot sandwiches, and a really friendly staff. I was sad the soups were all stocked out by noon but I can't wait to come back. I admit for a long time I didn't know how to feel about the departure of the beloved 24-hour donut shop that used to live here, but I must say I'm happy the spot belongs to someone worthy. So I was in the LBC at a car gathering early Sunday morning and after I wanted to get some food. Searching on Yelp, I found this place selling grilled breakfast burritos. Now for me, grilling the burrito is dang near a necessity since my ultimate favorite breakfast burrito is from Nicks in Los Alamitos. Showing up I was kinda disappointed there was no where to sit but I often have meals in my car anyway so it was okay. The staff here was very nice and I was greeted right away. I knew what I wanted to try even though there were many things on the menu. I placed my order and just had to wait a few minutes. The burrito was very good with chunks of meat throughout. Each bite was full of everything. Not like some places where each bite is a different ingredient. This was mixed in well. The salsa on the side is not that spicy but it adds a good flavor to it as salsa does to anything. This place is on my list to go back to asap. I have to try their other offerings soon. read more

Ham n Scram is the latest restaurant in Long Beach that specializes in great food, such as anything with ham. I actually found them on Yelp when looking for a breakfast burrito, and they didn't disappoint! They make them to order and they are loaded with bacon, ham of course, hash browns, onions, eggs wrapped in a nice tortilla. The chunk's of ham are smokey and nice size. There is a good balance of everything inside this well proportioned burrito. As a side note, while I was waiting, the owner, who was very nice, offered me a sample of their homemade split pea and three bean soups. They were absolutely delicious! As part of my journey to find the contender for the best breakfast burrito, I'd say Ham 'n Scram is a solid spot but doesn't fully hit the mark for me IMO. I ordered the breakfast burrito for lunch today and thankfully only needed to give them a 10 minutes notice. The burrito was crafted promptly and I picked it up quickly as well. The order comes with an included side of the red (brown) salsa. Now, onto the burrito itself. Portion wise, I think it's perfect for lunch- not extremely filling and not super overly heavy. The burrito tastes fine, I love the bits of ham and bacon in it and its made of fresh ingredients. It tastes rather dry and even with the salsa it doesn't fully hit the mark. For me the salsa is usually an add-on the the burrito's flavors, however Ham n Scram's seems more like a requirement just to counterbalance the burrito's somewhat dryness. Additionally the salsa didn't carry much weight in flavor either. The cashier offered some other salsa choices I could add to my order (believe there was a choice of an avocado and some other one) but I wanted just the usual red and or green salsa that normally accompanies burritos. The food is made fresh to order and is so delicious. I had the ham n scram muffin with the salsa on the salsa and omg it was good. If I lived closer Im sure I would have it a few time a week. On top of the food being delicious, the customer service was excellent. I called my order in before I got there and when I arrived I was acknowledged when entering the building and was assured that my order was almost done. The gentlemen that cooked my meal also checked me out and he was very pleasant. This is my second time visiting this establishment and it's always clean and inviting. Normally they tend to be overly eggy, somehow the potato's are mushy, the pieces of ham are considered slivers it's just no bueno. This used to be my favorite place to go. But unfortunately it has come to an end. I can go to have breakfast at any of these restaurants in Long Beach and they do not up their prices because of the egg shortage which really is not an egg shortage cause you can still get eggs and they're at a reasonable price I can get an 18 card of eggs for 7.99 at Sprouts. The Owner 's gonna lose a lot of business. I don't know what's going on here, but we gave it a try, went inside, ordered, and it was clear that no one was happy. No one greeted us. The silence was tense. There was a young woman with a scowl chopping vegetables and she thankfully ignored me. Eventually a young guy wandered to the front and took our order. Also seemed unhappy, but was willing to be cash-register-polite. There was limited seating along a window, so we waited in the car. At least that took us out of the vibe. And why didn't a food place smell like cooking? Everything there seemed like a temporary pop up that might vacate unexpectedly. It was all reminiscent of those liminal spaces on tik tok with long empty hallways leading nowhere. When we got the food (breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito), we could taste the unhappiness.
