After writing my review, geneva, the owner contacted me to apologize for any problems. She worked with me to hear my own concerns and was able to work with my crazy schedule to discuss the situation. She was very sincere each time we talked. They sent my boyfriend a new arrangement and contacted me before with pictures to make sure everything was good. They also made sure that he loved them. He did! Very different and eccentric flowers, which is why I shop with them. Thank you so much for working with me and trying to hard to understand and making things better! -Tyler -Tyler read more

I called right when they opened today and was greeted with a cheery "Good Morning!" We had a nice chat and my daughter received her flowers an hour later! My daughter's comment, "They're stunning!" Thank you Halstead. It's difficult ordering flowers from out of state and being unfamiliar with local vendors. You knocked it out of the park! Highly recommended. read more

Halsted Flowers - Beautiful! - Florists Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Fantastic! I called Halsted Flowers with a last minute order of 16 white roses. Orders were already out the door but Geneva and her staff were able to get this very special gift ready and the driver made another trip to make sure these were delivered. Geneva could not have been more lovely to talk to or more helpful. The flowers were for my niece and my sister in law really knows flowers. Was she impressed?! She knew what extras were in this stunning arrangement and has mentioned it several times since then (this was last month). Even my brother in law walked in the door later that day and said, "WOW! Those are so beautiful!" My niece was beside herself feeling incredibly special. Thank you, Geneva! You gained a couple more customers for life. read more

I will only get plants and flowers from here. Everywhere else I go that is less expensive, Trader Joes, Lowes, Home Depot, etc., everything dies. They must not over or under water their plant babies here and give them decent potting soil because everything looks just as good as the day I got it. The woman is very lovely and will take the time to explain what plants are right for you and your space. read more

I went to this store this week and I'm in love with the variety of plants as well as how kind the owner is. I am a recent plant owner and am still learning which plants to buy. I have been using Halsted flowers for years since I came into the neighborhood nearly a decade ago. It is a hidden gem of Lakeview! The flower selection is always super fresh, vibrant, and absolutely glorious. Whether you need a birthday bouquet, and I love you arrangement, a happy anniversary assortment, wedding flowers, or something just because, Halsted flowers never disappoints! Yes, I have used them for all of those occasions :-) I love the quality of not only the product but also the meticulous attention to detail that this female-owned business provides. When you shop here, you are not just sending someone flowers. You are providing a memorable experience, that will be remembered, appreciated, and recognized. I strongly recommend spending your money here, supporting our local economy, and putting a humongous smile on the face of the person who you are getting the flowers for. After receiving the bouquet, they will definitely feel how special they are to you and it will definitely warm their heart. :-) read more

I have been coming here a few times a month for the last 2 years-- why? Because I leave satisfied every time. I love supporting local businesses and Geneva makes it easy. She's always willing to talk me through whatever the occasion is that I need flowers and we come up with something great together. I think the selection is great for a local flower shop. There is a lot of turnover in the staff, I'm not sure if that's normal for a flower shop, but everyone Geneva brings in is very kind and helpful. read more

Halsted Flowers is fabulous! I ordered two arrangements hoping they could be delivered that day. I spoke with Geneva the shop owner who couldn't have been lovelier or more helpful. She got her team on it straight away and my daughter had the flowers early that afternoon. The arrangements were exactly what I envisioned; beautiful, bright and lush. Geneva checks each order before they leave her shop. Halsted Flowers is top notch and their service and product is outstanding. read more

So as a fan of Yelp I figured I'd just throw in a flower shop and see what popped up. Honestly, I didn't bother reading one review...I just winged it. But I must say I'm glad I chose Halsted flowers. We shared a few chuckles and I'd be more than happy to give them my business again. Thank you guys so much. read more

I will update my review. The owner was humble and responsive so I'd like to UPDATE. The owner/manager/older woman (who is normally friendly and kind)rushed me out of the space despite me having entered 15 min prior to closing so I suggest knowing EXACTLY what you want if you are entering several minutes before closing. I was making a spontaneous gesture to surprise my client with a flower while finishing the work in her home office. I was taking my idea very seriously because I am using my personal funds not the clients for this spontaneous kind gesture. I wanted to pick the best flower. They have a nice selection of greenery. I prefer to shop small business. Normally businesses will give you an extra few minutes if you are already within the store to finish the transaction but the owner or manager said "come on you've got to make a decision, we close at 4pm" and then tried to engage in small talk asking me if I were a mom while I was preparing to pay. NO. Employee STRESS should not be felt negatively by customers. However, the previous times i have entered she was helpful. I understand the stress of Mother's Day. What if I wanted to return for more clients? As an interior designer her demeanor was slightly rude. The young employees who helped did a great job and did not rush me. They took me seriously. I could have bought flowers at Mariano's but I thought I would find something special here. I am very though with my purchases and am always working under a budget. read more

After seeing my friend's succulent collection, I have looked for succulents in Chicago for weeks. Unfortunately, it was during the dead of winter when my obsession with succulents started and plant and flower stores were much more focused on selling winter pines and wreaths instead of succulents. I passed by Halsted Flowers (after searching in vain for succulents at the nearby Home Depot) and thought-"might as well stop by." And to my delight, there were many, many cute and pretty succlents. They all looked healthy and the price was right. Geneva, the owner, and another staff member (sorry-forgot his name!) were knowledgable and helpful. I am happy to report that my succulent is still alive and healthy after I bought it two months ago. read more

Long (sad) story short: I lost my flower person for my wedding at last minute and lucked the heck out with Halsted Flowers and the owner, Geneva. First, she was incredibly on top of my needs and followed up multiple times to ensure she had everything I wanted and needed covered. She called with questions, gave estimates, established a deadline and met every single word. The final product was stunning and EXACTLY what we were looking for in our boutonnieres and pinned corsages for our wedding. We asked for sleek, simplicity, and statement flowers; she delivered expectations. Actually, strike that -- she went ABOVE and BEYOND our expectations. What I'm saying: If you want amazing customer service paired with amazing final products, use Geneva's shop. If you also want one of the nicest people to work with when it comes to creating one-of-a-kind flowers for your event, use Geneva's shop. Basically, what I'm saying is this: Use Halsted Flowers for everything! read more

Wanted to love this place and make this place my go-to flower shop, but now I'm never returning. While I'm not planning a wedding or picking up a bouquet for a partner, I did stop by every few weeks to bring home a succulent or two and browse their candle selection. While I buy most of my plants there, I only once purchased a lavender plant from Trader Joes. I'm a plant newbie and sometimes struggle to keep plants alive, and that's exactly what happened with the lavender--it was nearing death by week two. So, after useless Google searches, I decided my "local florist" might be able to help, since we developed a rapport by that time and I thought I could trust her. NOPE. WRONG. I came in with my plant in my grocery bag, and attempted to explain the issue I was having. The owner apparently can't remember me, even though--at that point--I was stopping by almost every other weekend. Her responses to me were a mix of ignoring me and being extremely curt. Eventually she just sighed and sternly told me, "Honey, if you didn't buy it here, I can't help you," making it seem *insane* that I had asked her advice about a plant that I dared to purchase outside her store. On some level, I understand this, but was hoping my patronage would get me just a little advice about one plant because, at that point, I had purchased over $300 worth of plants and do-dads from her and I had lived in the neighborhood less than a year. But her exchange with me was so uncomfortable, I will never, ever go back. Even though she's the closest florist to my building. Essentially, if you want a bouquet or a candle--fine pick one up. But if you're going to be interacting with the owner a lot, look elsewhere. She's more interested in money (what you've purchased from her) than developing a relationship that leads to better, more business. read more

Came into Halsted Flowers in search of a nice b-day gift for a friend. With this place being in my building, I was looking for an excuse to stop by. Boy am I glad I did! For my friend I settled on a great smelling candle. There were lots to chose from and I eventually picked the one that the shop owner recommended. She was right, it smelled great! My friend loved it! Beyond that, the flowers were beautiful and succulents all look very healthy and well tended for. I was so impressed with how great the plants looked that I ended up walking out with another one for my apartment. Something green definitely spruces up a room! read more

I found this place walking past recently. With valentines on the horizon their Yelp reviews convinced me to give them a try and my wife's feedback from the flowers she got suggests it was a good move. From arrival the staff were really friendly, took a keen interest in what I was looking for, offered different suggestions and we agreed a time for me to come and pick them up and they are just down the road. Upon collection this busy little store greeted me by name and provided me with flowers that my wife keeps complimenting. I decided to support local rather than a larger chain florist and I was not disappointed. read more

I just have to preface this by saying that I was an "anti-bride". I was SUCH a procrastinator about everything..I found my makeup artist and hair person a few days before the big day.. YIKES!! Luckily, I found Geneva at Halsted Flowers within a week's notice of my big day and she was nothing short of accomplishing a miracle. She was so accomodating while working with my mother and me regarding the details, etc. I was so impressed. The pressure was on and she more than delivered. I obviously came to her last minute and worked with her over the phone. I told her the vision that I had in mind and I cannot tell you how responsive, responsible, and how talented she proved to be!! She was on top of every detail. Any question she ever had, she reached out to me to make sure I was happy. She even emailed me photos of the flowers so that I could ok them!! When I saw my bouquets in person that she made for me (very last minute) I was overwhelmed by how beautiful they were. She also provided the most beautiful flowers for my cake, as well as petals for the aisle and the groomsmens' boutonnieres and the mother of the brides' corsages. Beautiful hydrangeas, orchids and roses. If it weren't for Geneva, I think my wedding would have been a lot less beautiful. Thank you, Geneva!! Today is our 1 month anniversary and I plan on stopping in personally to thank her and show her photos! This is a truly class act establishment. read more

This beautiful flower shop, and its kind owner, have it all! I use Halsted Flowers and Geneva for all of my showroom flowers, my events, my fashion shows, and all the unique individual flowers/air-plants I pin to my suit lapel for events. She has the most creative recommendations, and more importantly, I do not have to give tons of specifics for what I am needing in an arrangement. Geneva seems to just know what I want and need for each event. She always delivers a surprisingly beautiful arrangement(s). The plants and flowers are great quality, cared for beautifully, and you are treated way better than just a customer. Halsted Flowers is truly where to go for creativity, beauty, creativeness, wonderful customer service, and most importantly, the best flowers! read more

These people are so nice, friendly, and helpful. I called at maybe 4:00 in the afternoon and they still somehow managed to deliver flowers during rush hour. Actually, not flowers, but a plant. They are up front about everything, and I even got transferred to a "plant specialist" when it was clear I knew nothing about the difference between flowers and plants. The questions they asked me felt like either a therapist or an online quiz, but they got me the right product in the end. So, so, helpful. Thanks everyone! read more

This review is way past due, but necessary. I've placed 3 orders to date, including a bouquet for a dinner party, a wrap of flowers for a dancer, and a bouquet for someone in the hospital. Each was a beautiful work of art, far exceeding my expectations, and really loved by the person it was given to. In each instance, I really wasn't sure what to ask for, so I just mentioned some preferred colors, and let them do their magic. Thank you, Halsted Flowers! Came in here to find a special plant for my new apartment and I'm so happy I did! I was looking for a unique, leafy medium size plant, kind of like the ones you see on Pinterest. I fell in love with one and snatched it up as quickly as I could- turns out I got the last of that certain kind. Right off the bat I could tell that the customer service was top notch. The two ladies working were very kind and informative. I would so much rather give my money to this store versus the Home Depot plant section down the street. Prices are maybe a little higher than average, but still reasonable for a quality, long lasting statement plant. I'll totally be back in the coming months! read more

The ladies here are super nice & knowledgable, I would highly recommend this store. I was referred to Halsted Flowers by another florist that didn't carry as many indoor house plants & have loved every experience with them so far (we're now on a first name bases after a week and a half of many visits & phone calls). Currently I've adopted an adorable Fig tree & Fiddle leaf fig tree and they are both so healthy & happy! I've seen similar plants at other stores that don't look nearly as vivacious. I look forward to continuing to work with these ladies down the line! read more

I chose Halsted Flowers to provide my wedding bouquets this May. I wasn't having a sit down meal, and I did not want to have to pay a minimum for a florist. I had several phone calls, emails and conversations with Geneva talking about options, event and what I liked and didn't like. She was thorough and generous with her time, walking me through what types of flowers might work and helping me to identify names of flowers, when all I could do was describe something. On the big day, Geneva shared a photo of the bouquets coming together via text, which put my mind at ease - and also made me very excited - to see that it looked exactly as I'd envisioned it. Not only was I happy to shop local for my wedding, I was happy to utilize a small business and would recommend Halsted Flowers to anyone. read more

If you're looking for an amazing florist that will customize any floral arrangement to what you want, then Halsted Flowers is where you should go! The owner, Geneva, helped me get flowers sent to my loved one on Valentine's day (one of the busiest days of the year for floral shops) and of course, I waited til the last minute! When I arrived at her shop, she had a line of people out the door waiting to place their last minute orders and mind you, it was 2pm when I got there. I waited in line, which moved quickly, and was greeted by a friendly smiling woman who clearly had a lot going on that day. They had plenty of staff to assist their customers and took my order in a flash and guaranteed delivery by the end of Valentine's day! I was so gracious because many other florists I called that day said that they were no longer taking orders. Also, the shop is super cute, very eclectic and they have some great vases to choose from for bigger arrangements. I also like their flower selection. It wasn't just the traditional roses, they had all sorts of tropical flowers that I would never find if I just went to the grocery store floral section. I will definitely be ordering flowers from Halsted flowers again! You can really tell that the owner takes pride in the way she runs her flower shop. Great service, wonderful selection of flowers, & a great location too. Oh, and the recipient of my flowers was very pleasantly surprised! :) read more

These folks are floral magicians. Most places you'd walk into for a bouquet would give you something homogeneous and quick for a price. But, in order to make an impression, you'd want something a bit more. I walked in to Halsted Flowers with $100, and Shelby gave me a personally-arranged bouquet that almost didn't fit through my front door.
