My husband and I recently chose St John Woods Apartments,Reston,Va. To move into.We had sold a 3 story TH because of the stairs,AND WE COULD'T BE HAPPIER.We looked around and they were the best.The setting,an actual laundry room in apartment,great maintenance,very clean ,exceptional management team,SO NICE,AND PARTIES.A beautiful pool,well maintained grounds,low water,sewer and electric Bill's and trash pick up ,At your door, 5 days a week.very nice appliances.I feel at home.The nicest people live here also.The North Point Shopping Center very close.We are right in the main part of Reston,affordable and perfect. read more

I don't even know where to start. This is the best rental community I have lived in. Ever. The apartments are spacious, well equipped with modern appliances, the deck/patio is a great size. The walls seem to be reasonably thick, I rarely hear my neighbors. The pool is well kept and a very secluded and relaxing location. The grounds and maintenance teams are the absolute best, friendly, professional, funny, and efficient. I saved the best for last, the management team is the greatest. Friendly, funny, helpful, caring, mature, and professional. I can't say enough goodness about this community. Even the community events they host are the best! Just go ahead and sign. read more

St. John's Woods: On the up side-it's quiet, lots of parking (but I doubt parking is an issue in Reston, va), pet friendly ($400 in pet fees. So it's not exactly a free deal..anyway), the grounds are well maintained and clean. My reason for the 1 star raiting? My appartment gets broken into. Some one walks in and robs my work computer. After the incident I am very uncomfortable staying in the appartment, especially since I am single. I report the incident to the rental office. I clearly mention that after the incident I cannot possible continue to live in the apartment anf that I will be looking to move out. That would entail breaking the 1 year rental agreement. The rental office folks are sympathitic and verbally say "its ok and that they understand and that given the circumstances, it's alright". Now I have a place and I give them a month's notice but now they sing a different song. They want me to pay all the lease breaking fees+ 1 months rent. The office says they cannot gurantee the safety of their residents as it is not their responsibiltiy. They say this to my face! The verbal agreement is forgotten.. Legally I am sure they have the right BUT if I had to pick a place to live, I will never pick this complex and I will defenitely not recommend it to any one. As far as the appartment goes, its drafty. For 800 sq.ft the electric bill is a minumum $150/mo. They charge for sewage and water in addition to the rent...may be that's normal but i am just too soured by my experience of this place. I can understand they are running a business but just somethign about their attitude feels all wrong. read more

Just moved in a month ago. We moved from Tysons and are very happy with the location. It is tucked away off Reston Parkway so it is very quiet with a lot of mature trees and walking trails. The property is well kept and the leasing office staff has always been kind and attentive to our needs. We are just across from the North Point shopping plaza which is very convenient. We've been living here for about 5 months now and couldn't be happier. Not once have we heard our neighbors, which was not the case in the last two apartments I've lived in. Lot's of people have dogs here but I can honestly say I haven't seen any "leavings" about. Everyone seems to pick up after their dog. Rent is very reasonable for the area and the location is great. Just a few minutes drive from the Reston Town Center. Everyone in the leasing office is great, especially Donna, she has been very helpful. The maintenance team also responds quickly to problems. Overall I would definitely recommend living here. read more

Disclaimer: No one paid me to take this survey!! I moved here July 2015 from Atlanta. I rented the one bedroom apartment via email and pics received from Mr. Ed who works in the leasing office. He was very attentive, and answered ALL of my questions and concerns!! Well in June 2016 it was time to sign a new lease! I like the apartments, the staff (Ed and Donna have really great attitudes), maintenance crew (Lew) and the upkeep so well I decided to move into a two bedroom within the same complex. The moving process was smooth, electronic, the new place was clean and I left the old place clean as well. I must admit that I have never smelled any smoke, I do not know if my neighbors smoke, but I have never smelled any funny smells. I can tell you that the apartments are older, so you will hear people who are heavy walkers prance across the floor, and you will hear their dogs bark. One would get use to the sounds after staying in the apartments after while. There is always enough parking and the parking spaces are wide enough. In Atlanta the spaces were so close my car was continuously being banged upon. That is not a problem here, and the believe it the leasing office do not play with people who park and do not live here. Emails will go out! The location is perfect and convenient to work, shopping, dining, gas, banking and medical facilities. As far as the noise is concerned, once they go to bed, it is normally my bed time also so I do not have a problem going to sleep or staying asleep. Now I did not give it 5 stars simply because as I said the apartments are older and the appliances are up to date (stainless steel and etc.) they could use a little upgrading such as bathroom fixtures, tile and etc. That is only I am comparing St. Johns to the last apartments I stayed in Atlanta had hardwood floors in the kitchen and etc. But hey you can't have everything! Garbage pickup? A joke. Maintenance is prime time for petty thievery; they will lodge a complaint against you without your consent (not the Democratic process). Management is stuffy, particularly with a "Nurse Ratchet" (taken from 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) property manager who is feared by the staff. I see a lot of things, and I know when things are right and I know when they are wrong; with this said, there's a bunch of "Monkey Business" going on here. The rules seem only to apply as a, "on-the-fly" type of rule. Which, of course, is unfair. There is no closet space: it is designed this way for a reason: no children long term, as children grow. Kids have stuff. You have stuff, I have stuff, too. The closet space is minimal (I'm using my dress closet as a linen closet. I'm a minimalist and still, there is not enough room). The landscaping - if you care, is not great. The maintenance blows the leaves, sure, but the grass line is poor. It would be nice to plant new seedlings - you probably don't care about this, that's fine. Not for the physically challenged, not for children; better for one guy, one girl, maybe both, but not with more than one pet. What is a positive? I want to be fair. It is quiet and it feels safe. The bus system is very good, you can get to West Falls Church and then Metro very easily. The walking trails are great if you have a dog. You will not necessarily need a car. Don't sign for more than a year's lease as you will be sucker-punched. read more

I love this place! My husband and I have lived here since August of 2014. It's quiet, pretty, safe and close to the Reston Town Center. We re-signed our lease for another year. Our rent was increased more than other places in which we've lived, but it's a small price to pay for safety and peace of mind. read more

I see there are no reviews of this property in almost three years so I guess I'll put in my two cents. I moved here about a month ago, albeit still in the honeymoon phase, but enough time to get a first impression: it was both positive and favorable. Property Staff: very professional, responsive, communicative and accessible (hope that's not part of the honeymoon phase, too!) Was even treated like a "resident" during the inquiry/tour stage of the process. Property/Grounds: super clean, well maintained, totally surrounded by beautiful trees (they don't call it St Johns Wood for nothing!) Garbage/recycle center makes this a 'green' property. Maintenance: so far, so good. I've had same day responses to minor issues. Location: right off Reston Pkwy. My main reason for selecting SJW was its close proximity (2.5miles) to Metro (Wiele/Reston station). Major retailers within 5 miles of community (Home Depot, Giant, Harris Teeter, Container Store, Whole Foods, Target and the entire Reston Town Center); lots of restaurants and Wolf Trap is only 12 minutes away. Community: surprisingly quiet; if I hadn't actually seen some of my neighbors, I wouldn't know anyone lived here! Seems to be a mix of singles, couples and a few families w/ kids; lots of dogs! (There are no play areas I don't think this property is targeted toward families with small children although Buzz Aldrin Elementary is a couple blocks away.) Plenty of parking, well lit at night and safe: no need for secured access buildings or roving security guards like my former community in south Alexandria. Apartment: Quietest apartment I've EVER lived in, very well soundproofed walls, floor and front door. One of the main reasons I chose SJW was their unique floor plan for the 1bdr w/ closed den; being a long term apartment dweller, I was so tired of living in the standard, ho-hum "box or rectangle" and this floor plan offered some unique angles as well as access to the outside space from both the living room and the den. I love to cook and hated to trade gas for electric, but the flat top cooking surface as well as the other updated appliances are working for me. The only issue in the kitchen is lack of drawer space, one of which you can not fully open because it's blocked by the oven door handle. The laundry room has enough space for a 5-shelf pantry storage unit. The outdoor living space is huge at 14' x 7'; they call it a balcony but I have friends with houses with decks that aren't that big. The storage closet connected to the balcony is an added bonus. Special touches were the move in amenities; paper towels and dish liquid in the kitchen, Bozutto water bottle and coffee container on the counter, small box of Tide on the washing machine, M&Ms, Pringles and water in the refrigerator and new white towels, toilet tissue and a rubber ducky in the bathroom! My fiance and I lived at St. Johns for a little over a year. The apartments were OK, but the walls were so thin you could hear EVERYTHING. We were on the 1st floor and we had two college aged smokers above us who would be out on their patio almost every night until 2 or 3 am smoking and talking. We eventually had to go out and buy ear plugs because there was literally nothing blocking the sound. We also had another neighbor who's son would play their baby grand piano daily. And, at last, another who had a sound system that would be so loud it would shake our walls. In addition to the noise, we had a 2 bedroom and the guestroom/office was so cold we'd have to wear our coats and gloves in there! We asked maintenance several times what we could do and their response was that "the windows are old and don't have any installation, but we can put plastic wrap over the sliding door and windows in the room." Plastic wrap!! We paid way to much in rent for that and of course, it didn't even help. Our family and friends wouldn't come stay with us when it was cold because the didn't want to sleep in a freezer. I'm just glad we didn't have any small children or someone who needed to sleep in their consistently. The maintenance staff was OK, but would skimp on things and do it the fastest, cheapest way instead of the right way. read more

They claim to be "pet friendly" but then end up restricting most common dog breeds. They don't provide the restricted list openly either, you cannot find it online and they won't give it if you call. I wouldn't recommend these apartments if you're a dog lover. read more

We have been living at St. Johns Wood for over a year and resigned for another year. We knew we wanted to be in the Reston area and with a newborn had to be close enough to Reston Hospital and the pediatrician's office. Everything was running smoothly until we had an issue with our heating in January and with the amount of insanely cold weather we were having wanted to make sure this issue was taken care of ASAP. Within a day Donna the excellent Property Manager responded to our request. I just wanted to say thank you to Donna and her staff for responding to our request so quickly!! We are extremely happy with the treatment we always receive and wanted to spread the word to others out there deciding on where to live that we are extremely happy we renewed and would not want to be anywhere else! read more

Fair warning Bozzuto Management uses a lot of bait and switch to get tenants and if you try to get what was promised- They claim it was never something they would do or offered! Realtors be warned they do not pay commission even though it was promised on several occassions and I was given a form to recieve the commission. They play favorites and do not follow through on anything!!! Very disappointing!!! Then when I moved in I had no heat in one of my bedrooms. I went on for 4 months. I really had nothing better to do anyway!! I complained and they sent someone who said it was working fine, just the room was to far from the furnace. Really??? I put an out door thermometer on my bed- my room reached a high of 50 degrees in the sunshine!!!! Again, I complained. Then they said they could put film on all of my windows to keep the heat in??? I already feel like I live in a fishbowl and they want to block any view I might have? Next time I complained I was told me the only solution was for me to install curtains!!!(The windows all have blinds already!) Finally, at the end of February after four months of this I called corporate to ask for help. I was told that the building was older and it just wasn't keeping the warm air in, not their problem!(a contractor friend thought there might not be any insulation in the walls, they were that cold!) I said that for the amount of rent I was paying I shouldn't have to wear a down jacket and long johns inside my home! He said, (verbatim) That I was paying for the location not the quality of the home!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!! Now I had heard it all! I then told him what the average temp was and would he want his family living in such conditions? He then scheduled a "senior" engineer that discovered a closed flap way back in the duct work that was blocking off all air.
