I drive over fifty miles to visit Hallock's Cider Mill and it's absolutely worth the trip every time. Everything is really tasty - we always pick up a big jug of apple cider and try the other unique flavors of cider they have to offer (peach and cherry are particularly excellent). The folks working here are really friendly - overall the ambiance is warm and the store smells like the sweet like the pies and other products baked there. I highly recommend Hallock's for anyone looking for farm fresh goodness on the east end. read more

Place is a super fun and classic spot to stop by when going east. Plenty of stuff to see around it but also the local produce is nice. I'd recommend really looking at the product before purchase as well since they do sell things they don't make in house (got duped into but honeycomb made in Hungary and packed in NJ? Lol - still was good). Recommend their cookies and home made juices and drinks. Their peach cider is an absolute delicious drink. I've tried their homemade mozzarella which was fine - probably could've used a little more salt but it's still good. Was unfortunately disappointed with a homemade banana bread - not enough banana flavor in it. And with the high prices here it's hard to walk away spending 100$+ on like 7 small things and one of them sucks. But in any case I'd still recommend making the stop and trying a few of their homemade items yourself. read more

We were looking for a hard cider spot and stumbled onto this place instead. It was such a great find! Cute farmstead with a ton of housemade goodies like pickled veggies, eggs, jams and preserves as well as fresh produce and of course unspiked sweet apple cider. We also usually go to another very well known farmstead spot for pies, but after trying a variety of their press this weekend, I'll be coming here for them! Took home 7 small pies to taste test and usually you'll have a mix bag of hits and misses, however, each were phenomenal, like nobody had anything bad to say about ANY of them. Cheesecake was creamy, the fruit crumbles were made with fresh fruit and were sweet tart just enough, the peanut butter pie packed a heap of peanut flavor but was so so light, the sinful pie was aptly named :a light cheesecake mousse topped with coconut flakes, crunchy sweet pecans and chocolate... It really was sinfully delicious. Their Key lime pie was definitely some of the best I've tasted outside of FL and I'm a straight rhubarb only pie fan but their strawberry rhubarb pie won me and my fellow taste testers over. Their raspberry crumb cake is "the best crumb cake I've ever had". I get 3-6 every time I go because I have to get them for every family member. I clean house at this place... I also empty my bank account here lol. The sugarfree jams are... am I gonna say it? Yes I am, theyre my JAM. The Cheddar cheese is top notch. The sinful pie is just that, sinful. It's one of those things that if left in the freezer miraculously disappears. Who ate it? Nobody claims to have eaten it, but it sure is gone lol. The Keylime pie has a chocolate layer that perfectly balances its tartness. The Kellie bar is equally delicious. The blueberry cream pie is also a hit with us. All the bakes goods are perfection. We haven't had a single bad thing here. They also sell an array of seasonal fruits and veggies. They're closed for a few months after Xmas so do call before visiting in the winter months. Wow, I passed this place so many times and never stopped in. What a mistake! I think it was the sign award winning clam chowder, always reminds me of the movie ELF, World's Greatest Coffee, and his date responds it's just another crappy cup of coffee. Well that's not the case here. The clam chowder is one of the best I've ever had. Creamy with generous chunks of clams and potatoes. I was determined to get an apple pie and the pies are outstanding. I ended up getting the apple crumb. Big chunks of crumbs. I could just eat the pie crust and crumbs, it was that good. It was difficult leaving the store, it smelled so good and everything look good, I just wanted to try everything. I did pick up banana bread and a couple of cider donuts. The cider donuts were the best I ever had. Make sure you park in the back parking lot. There is a tree trunk decorated with wood elf's and houses, sort of like the keebler cookie guys. So during the pandemic people have turned to comfort foods and I am no different. But a recent find at Hallock has put a new spin on an old favorite. When you think back to you childhood which sandwich reminded you of the simplest purest joy. It's gotta' be PB&J right? if there were a childhood hall of fame this plebian sandwich surely would be among the first inductees. Simple ingredients, low relative cost, simple to prepare with enough sugar to power you through your afternoon and some proteins as well. What's more, even our five and six year old latchkey selves could prepare it and mom didn't have to worry about burning the house down. Without besmirching the classic PB&J a bit, I'm am a little past those days of limited self-reliance. My budget also affords me the ability to reach beyond the bottom shelf where pathmark "No-Frills" jelly resided. If you are similarly situated, I recommend you reach for a jar of Hallocks Strawberry Preserve. This preserve takes the old standard PB&J up at least two notches to make it PB&Jammin! The preserves are so thick and rich and filled with fruit flavor that Jelly just can't match. If PB&J are the old comfy slippers then the preserves make this the old comfy slippers with cashmere lining and non-slip soles. It allows you to be loyal to the classic while still elevating your game. While I'll never dis' the old Pathmark brand that raised me through my teens, I know PB&J brinkmanship when I see it. The best pie I've ever eaten. We stopped here on a whim coming back from the vineyards and immediately loved the variety of freshly made sweets, breads and prepared goods. I loved that I didn't have to drop $20 on a large pie and instead opted for the smaller size that was just as packed with flavor. The berries were extremely fresh and not overly sweetened complimented by the buttery crust. I usually leave the crust for my hubby to devour but I ate this one all on my own, it was too addicting! I also purchased Hallock's honey mustard and have used it with fries, chicken and in many salads. It is very versatile, with notes of sweetness combined with the perfect amount of tang. I love this place. Never seems too crowded, and it's easy to walk in even with my rollator walker. I go mainly for the soups. They have excellent New England and Manhattan clam chowders that just happen to be gluten free. The people who run it are friendly and helpful. The apple cider is excellent. Hallock's used to be awesome. The quiche was great and the fruit pies delicious. Unfortunately, today was probably my last trip here.The quiche was refrigerated and completely watery and runny when I got home. The small apple pie was ok, tasted like canned apples instead of fresh ones. I was shocked when the young man at the counter told me it was $40. I asked him how much the small pie was and he replied $15! Hallock's has gotten way too greedy for me. Also, the 3% surcharge for using a credit card or even a DEBIT card is just ridiculous. Best apple crumb pie ever! Picture: a tender, flaky crust filled with juicy, sweet, cinnamon-spiced filling and apples topped with light crumbles. It had just the right amount of sweetness and the apple chunks were not too chunky. I hate when theres more pie crust and crumbs than the actual apple and apple sauce filling, but Hallock nailed the ratio of this pie. Such a disappointment. I came to pick up my thanksgiving pies that I ordered a few weeks ago. Unfortunately my order was put in the wrong day for pickup. Great little pie shop out east on the island. I usually get the sinfull pie which is really good. It is like a heavy whipped cream filling topped with coconut and pecans that are cooked until there is a dark brown crust ontop. They also have other pies like apple, blueberry, peach, cheesecakes, pound cakes, honey, all different flavors of spreads like apple butter and other ones, cookies, maple syrup, they make there own doughnuts and apple fritters(not the best), they also have some local produce and flowers. We have been coming here for about 7 years. I love their baked goods. We are addicted to their blueberry pie. Before they close for the winter, we buy a couple pies and freeze it to hold over till they open again. Their different banana breads are always so moist and delicious. Their cookies are yummy as well. Wayne--the Keebler elf who does all the baking in the back--is as sweet as his pies. Their staff is very accommodating. If I want a specific pie when it's sold out--they will take my number and call when a fresh batch is ready.
