It's still a nice park with swings, jungle gyms, and slides. There are two levels. One is a playground with a basketball court. The upper level is a lush green space. On snowy days you can go sledding on the hill at the upper level. Some downsides are there are several entrances to the playground and when you have multiple small children it is easy to lose track of them. There are many nooks and crannies they can hide in and give mothers panic attacks when they seemingly "disappear". That said it's still a great park with lots of space for little kids to play in.

The parks dept keeps the park safe and clean and it's surrounded by many buildings steps away so the locals don't have to travel much to get here ..While cuz is doing his basketball groove with his friends, I am doing the bench warmer dance and enjoying the nice weather as well .4.5 stars on my yelp meter.

Yellowstone Municipal Park - So sad that these parks are closed. Hopefully they will be reopening again soon.

Their website says they're open Friday to Sunday, and there's no update on their Facebook page, but they are open! The carousel is the main draw obviously. When we went (early May 2021) there were a few other rides open, but not all. There was no line at all for any of the rides, and the staff were mostly nice. We were told to keep our masks on at all times, and there was hand sanitizer everywhere.

It has been deemed a historic national site, as the initial carousel was built in 1903, only to be rebuilt in 1966 after a fire. It now sits in Woodhaven, Queens, restored to its former glory and awaiting children from all the borough and beyond. One wouldn't think the NY Carousel would be an underrated family activity given its history, but too many folks are unaware that it exists even now. The city has taken great steps to ensure its longevity and anyone looking for kid friendly activity or a little nostalgia has come to the right place. While it is a short ride in the natural beauty of the park, the surrounding space makes it an ideal getaway for families who want to book the space for gatherings of whatever kind. The Carousel itself is the main attraction of course, though there are other rides for kids that range from a train ride to a recently added mini ferris wheel dubbed the "Woodhaven Wheel." Ticket costs for the rides vary, but the last time I checked it was $35 for a 10-pack (i.e. $3.50 a ticket). While there are some small carnival games and story telling sessions, this is not a substitute for any major carnival / amusement park on a bigger scale in any way. Think of this as a place to kill a couple of hours with the young ones. I'd recommend bringing food in and avoiding their options (think hot dogs, small packs of chips, etc.) if at all possible. They've closed this section of the park for the rest of 2020, but I sense that in 2021 that they'll take great measures to ensure everything is safe for youngins / carefree adults to partake.
