Rainey Park is a really nice park since it is right by the water (East River) and give you a view of Rossevelt Island. This is the first time I have been here but some of the facilities: children's playground looks nice. Not a bad place to have a stroll on a nice day when you are in the neighbourhood. But not special enough for a special trip.

absolute wonderful day at rainey park. recently it was overtaken by groups renting up tents, bbqs, and loud music. I have actually gotten attitude for trying to set up my small blanket with 3 kids. my husband just reported to me that their are to police cars and no signs of bars or blarihng music. I understand everyone likes a BBQ. but dont make our public park your very large party. recently saw a surprise baby party where the husband blocked off enough shade for 75 people 3 hours before party started! here's a few pics for proof. see pics. opps. cant figure out my phone

so i realized that even though i grew up in nyc my whole life basically.. i crave finding the quiet outside the hustle and bustle of everything.. this place is my hidden oasis when i just want to be alone with my thoughts.. listen to music, enjoy the weather, enjoy an iced coffee from chateau le woof.. or want to get some work done.. i like sitting by the waterfront and watching the ferry boats pass by... i'm one of those ppl that crave alone time after a long week.. you will find ppl are usually having bbq or picnics.. it's quite small but it's not as crowded as astoria park.. i like to come in through the back alleyway behind the costco's.. not shady at all.. if i have a free random weekday with no plans, and the weather is amazing.. you know where i'll be..

Been here a few times, for picnics and general hangouts. Always when the weather has been nice out, but definitely think it would be beautiful in the snow too. There's a lot of grassy space to sit around and hang out, some seating/walkways by the water to enjoy while you're there - nice for date day (or night, I presume), casual meet ups with friends, and generally as a park. The grass is pretty long, especially on the side close to the water and as someone with grass allergies it feels especially scratchy and uncomfortable to sit on. But it's a beautiful view and close to Costco - what more could you want?

All around nice family park, sprinklers, swings, slides and climbing wall for the kids. Soccer field and basketball courts. Right off of the East River accross from Manhattan.

Needs a lot of work, terrible old bathrooms, chipping paint, many dogs off leash, not worth it at all. Grass needs to be mowed and seeded.

Dead grass & syringes on the ground. Cops harass you when you're there past 9pm. Great view to sober up to, though.

Nice park with views or Roosevelt Island. Lots of benches and seems like it would be a nice place to have a picnic.

I'm mostly exhausted from working a full time job while doing this, which has become another full time job in itself. When I started the journey to find the best rotisserie chicken in the country, there was so much I didn't know: 1) I had no idea people would actually care and be as invested in this series as they are, which is kind of cool. 2) There are more grocery stores selling a hot & ready rotisserie chicken than I ever could have imagined. I have so much work left to do. I ate the $25.99 tissi from Ouri's here at St. Katherine's Park, and it was a nice place to just sit and eat some bird. A couple basketball courts, playgrounds, ample seating, and bathrooms that are in some desperate need of some TLC. It was a vibe. The bird was actually bomb, but charging $25.99 for a rotisserie chicken should be a war crime. I will never buy it again. I'm taking the night train to Boston tonight to try Market Basket, Star Market, Stop & Shop, and a few other grocery stores. I also need to get to Texas, the Midwest, and Southern California before I wrap this journey up. I'm tired, but my momma always told me you don't start something until you finish it. There's plenty of benches and tables with chairs for chess. There's even a bathroom, although no lock on the door in the ladies room, and only one toilet in there. It's better than nothing. There's a huge basketball court. There's benches near the basketball courts also and more equipment for the children to play on. It's various sections fenced off for what might appear to be different activities and different age groups. This is a nice park if you live nearby. I'm recommending you visit even if you're like me. I just wanted a bathroom break and maybe sit down for a few minutes.

These include, though aren't limited to: Sledding, cross country skiing, making all manner of snowmen/forts/snowballs/snow angels, snow tubing, snow plowing and shoveling the streets and walkways, defrosting your fingers and toes, admiring the winter scenery. One of the best things about CP is that it's open daily, year-round. On one very very cold Saturday afternoon when we got about a foot of snow, I ventured out in sub-freezing temperatures, and was surprised by how many people (thousands!) were playing in the snow. I had never seen CP so crowded, not even on warm sunny days! Not only families with children, it seemed everyone healthy and active enough to participate was out and about. How many people had sleds too!* That being said, one suitable aspect of CP is the many hilly areas so if you had a sled, you were in luck, with much fun to be had. On your next snow day, GO PLAY! *Considering it hadn't snowed more than a few inches annually the past few years I wasn't sure where people either had space to store, or how they were able to procure sleds at such short notice.

No just kidding all jokes aside and this is one of the most interesting parts in the city and one of the few places that you will lots find green open space. There are lots of common walkways and running trails for you to get your fitness in if that's what you like to do and for kids there are several playground areas in and around the park. It's the perfect place and change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city. And what I find most interesting about Central Park is that no matter how many times you come here, it always seems like you'll find something different about it from the last visit. The sights, people, landscape and everything around it changes with each day or season. That's the beauty of the park that I like most.
