For years I thought that this was just an extension of Astoria Park. It is a tiny sliver of a park along the East River, but it is a nice sliver. A few cherry blossom trees are planted there, and they flower in spring with the other trees. And it can be a pleasant extension to your walk around Astoria Park. If you look south, you can see the Hell Gate and RFK Bridges. The view is especially nice at night, as you can see the Manhattan skyline. Unfortunately, the other views aren't so nice. To the north, you have a Con Ed plant, with its smokestacks. Directly west, across the East River, there is the sewage treatment plant. Occasionally, and this is a complaint for the area by this park, there is a bad odor. While generally less crowded than Astoria Park, it can get crowded during weekends in the summer, with people blasting music from their cars or for their picnics/parties. However, it usually is peaceful in the mornings, and during the winter.

Best park around. I read that they are putting tons of money into renovations and additions. Highly recommend!

It's still a nice park with swings, jungle gyms, and slides. There are two levels. One is a playground with a basketball court. The upper level is a lush green space. On snowy days you can go sledding on the hill at the upper level. Some downsides are there are several entrances to the playground and when you have multiple small children it is easy to lose track of them. There are many nooks and crannies they can hide in and give mothers panic attacks when they seemingly "disappear". That said it's still a great park with lots of space for little kids to play in.

The parks dept keeps the park safe and clean and it's surrounded by many buildings steps away so the locals don't have to travel much to get here ..While cuz is doing his basketball groove with his friends, I am doing the bench warmer dance and enjoying the nice weather as well .4.5 stars on my yelp meter.

Yellowstone Municipal Park - So sad that these parks are closed. Hopefully they will be reopening again soon.
