Ripon Skatepark - It's an amazing skate park that is too wet in the early morning

It's an excellent design and most people around here think of this skate park when they want to go…read moreto any skate park in the area, although the new Lathrop skate park is pulling some people closer to home. It's huge, so you won't see a bunch of newbies trying to use it. The concrete (no wood!) is smooth. I believe that there are restrictions about scooters and bikes but no one seems to enforce them, and everyone there seems okay with them, as long as you're not in the way.

REVIEW FOR PARENTS:…read more This is a SKATEPARK, not a PLAYGROUND. If your child is below the age of 13 or does nothing but ride back and forth then this is not a safe environment for them. This a place for people to practice and try out and DANGEROUS tricks. Small children who do not understand skatepark etiquette will ride back and forth, not giving the slightest concern for their surroundings which is very very dangerous for everyone else trying to have a good time. PARENTS, I understand your children look at the skatepark as this magical wonderland and you want them to have the time of their lives. But i promise you when a parent shows up with their toddlers and their scooters and their safety gear, it brings nothing but disappointment to everyone there. GEAR WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR CHILD FROM ADULTS GOING AT TOP SPEED. The next time your child wants to come to the skatepark, teach them about skatepark etiquette. Everyone in this environment wants everyone to be safe, and when young children come into it not knowing how to act, it presents danger for everyone involved. Remember, your small child is surrounded by tall walls of concrete, maybe not the safest place ya? Parents do not get angry when your child is waiting for their turn while everyone else is shredding, your child simply does not belong there.

Designed by skater pros and built to memorialize 14 year…read moreold Carson Warner- who was an active youth who died young in an off-road 4 wheeler accident, but lived his life fully, a falconer, surfer and nature lover, the park is pristine and on each corner is a bench shaped like a skateboard. The park requires helmet and pads, has a bathroom, water fountains and allows bladers and scooters and has experts to beginners. There's no snacks but the coner store/deli is jsut a block away, just past the Best Western Hotel on Dry Creek. There's a great big oak tree that shades an area where you can get yer gear on, sit and watch or hang out with friends. It's really an example, no A MODEL of how city government and locals can come together and support space for our youth. There's no graffiti and zero tolerance for drugs or violence and signs that say "This is Your Park, Take Care of it" and the kidz and elders do = every time I go there, it makes me smile! I've seen real young kidz and veteran/ experts ride here all toegther no prob'! This park just has a great energy, great feel! This is such a great little park hidden off the beaten path, with nice grass and really nice smooth concrete bowls, (so no bikes here)..the layout is not huge... but just flows ....so sweet, even if you don't skate take your lunch and hang out and watch the talent do their thing, SK8 for LIFE!
