Also 2 bikers driving recklessly (while their mother watched from a bench). One of the bikers rammed a 9 year old skater. Apparently there is no monitoring or enforcement of the rules that make it safer for everyone. Infraction of rules carries a fine but guess no one else cares. The bikes are a particular menace to others as they are not as controllable as skateboards and scooters and are LARGE pieces of moving equipment with careless riders dominating the skate park.

There's definitely a little something for people of all different skill level. I was able to skate around and try skating down ramps of varying degrees. My boyfriend was able to try out his tricks. The park looked really well kept. It was clean. No graffiti. No litter. The rails seemed to be well waxed? Well greased? I don't know the terminology. My boyfriend seemed to have fun, though! There were 2 bike riders, a few scooter riders, and a lot of skaters, though not inline skaters. The skate park is big but not huge. It is not nearly as big as Lake Cunningham in San Jose, but close to Granite in Sacramento. There are two bean bowls--no waiting. There are many street bits from the front gate onward, including a working fire hydrant, a leaning parking pole, and many rails and benches to grind. Besides the two bean bowls, there is a bigger, multi-purpose bowl with a spine almost splitting it, and a very good wall extension. They have bleachers on the side and a small tent-like cover toward the center of the skate park. Most everything seems possible to skate.

I love that they allowed for artists to come and adorn the walls and overpass posts with color, culture and names of visitors past. There were a wide range of ages skating, biking, watching. Parents sat with their chairs outside of the complex looking on. There was even a gentleman whom sat by the entrance whom had set up a table and was streaming music. Everyone was very aware of their surroundings and there seemed to be this unspoken understanding of skatepark etiquette everyone was abiding by. It was a mixture of skateboarders and BMX enthusiasts. My 14 year old son has gotten really into skateboarding. It's what he got into during quarantine and this whole Covid thing. It was a way for him to incorporate some physical activity and something to concentrate on and hone in his skills with. I can tell he feels good and feels like he's in shape. He is mindful of what he eats on a daily and ensures he is drinking plenty of water. Not bad for a 14 year old huh? I think what has become a true passion has also helped him in the area of time management. Since he homeschooled for the 18 months or whatever it was he knew he has a set time frame to get school and school work done so that he could get his time in daily to skateboard and then still get online and play a few rounds on his gaming console. I really like how he evens out his time and prioritizes the way he does. I know some adults that cant get a hold of their time and here is this 14 year old in the middle of a pandemic crushing it. He continues to amaze me that one. Anyway, this skatepark. Since my son is passionate about skateboarding I've told him we should make an effort to seek out new parks for him. I sit and read or scroll through my phone and he does what he does and admires other people and their talents. It allows for him to see what he needs to work on and what he wants to accomplish. Every City needs these. They need a place for kids and adults to be able to do something positive and do what they love. There was no charge for this place. Parking is a little daunting as it IS SF but when you are in a City like SF you are aware of the "walking culture"..lol! We parked a couple blocks away. Place is clean and I assume since it is fenced in there is a closing time and someone comes and locks it so the park doesn't become a homeless encampment. It's a great place to visit if you need a place to let off steam, live and let go of all your cares getting some cardio in!

If you need help, you can always ask where the tennis courts are--it was just beyond there, not far from the entrance to the park, but you must go up the hill. There is a lot to ride. There is a street section near the parking lot with stairs and rails with a flatter sort of bowl to ride. At the far end, there is a huge bean bowl that is quite deep. You'll find a variety of just about anything else in-between with one section marked "Beginner". There is also a covered area with picnic tables, restrooms, a broken water fountain, and what looked like bleachers up the hill a bit. There are so many discrepancies at work here that it just makes for a bizarre experience, and I can understand the criticisms of the design, but... it's like the Burning man, sometimes you have to get the freak on! - The bathroom looks like stonehenge. - The skatepark, usually situated in the most unattractive of areas, gets to sit on top of a gigantic mountain hill overlooking a golf course and tennis courts. That's just bizarre. - there's a big picnic at hanging rock vibe going on. all those adolescent australian schoolgirls would look at home here before they disappear just like in the film. I'm not even sure if you can judge this on the same qualities you do usual skateparks. Some of the runs are so strange, like, I'm a beginner and I feel like I'm going to get catapaulted off the mountain because they'll throw you REALLY fast into... a dtich! or off the edge of a cliff! neat stuff. The bowl things are... weird! i mean, thinking on this, I don't know, That whole skateboard and pool skating thing was happening due to cultural factors but it was like, an accident. When I went it was also nice because it was a lot of little kids just bopping around and while most skaters are pretty fun, there can be so much pressure and people proving themselves to achieve quality and progression, which is important. but it's cool to have the cute bopping leanring kids. they were pretty good too!

This skate park is nice and kept very clean. There are no cracks in the cement and there are plenty of places to do different tricks inside the park. There are no trees to shade the skate park, but luckily it doesn't get too hot here. There are some shaded benches around the park with a good view of it for anyone who might have only come to watch. This skate park is a great asset to the community and gives skaters a place to play and hangout without being a detriment to the community.

You probably lost all your money there or just got kicked out - they don't tolerate any nonsense whatsoever - oh well you learned your lesson and good thing you have your skateboard in the back trunk. The trash was only up front and the toilet was a space age looking thing. Looked like a flying saucer. How cool is that? They call them the Portland Loo. This little park is as good as it gets. Incredible design - somebody did a great job squeezing it in. Half of it opens up to a parking lot so there isn't this claustrophobia inducing feeling when your there. Some good lighting even at night - which is great as the sun sets early now. Grab your skateboard and come here - you'll be as happy as my cat with his beach side crunch party mix treats.

It's June Movement Month! And Giorgi Park is the halfway point on one of our walking routes with…read moreour pup, George. It's a lovely and well-maintained little park tucked into the neighborhood, just a few blocks from the Plaza. It boasts tennis courts (and lines for pickleball, thanks Mandy L for the intel), basketball courts, the rec baseball field (where the Prunepackers play too!), some picnic tables, a kids play structure, and a parking lot. We walk through regularly and enjoy seeing all of the activity going on. I've also used the grassy areas for strength workouts with friends. Thanks for this beautiful green space in our town!
