Chorizo Scramble
Hannah V.

This was a very impressive diner! They have a good size menu to satisfy anyone that stops by and everything on the menu was $15 or under! A home cooked meal for that price you don't see very often. We went for brunch so I opted to go for breakfast. The chorizo scramble was delicious. I wish there were more jalapeños on it but other than that it was a hit. Everyone else's meals looked delicious as well. The fries were crispy, the pancakes tasted like vanilla, and the homemade bread was buttery!

Nostalgic.

One of my favorite restaurants in the Greenville area for over 35 years. The perfect spot for some homemade cooking.

Onion rings. Greasy much?
Holly V.

Very ample servings at this roadside diner between Sparta and Greenville. Our huge serving of onion rings was enough for four people - we could eat only half of them. They were greasy but good enough to eat! The sandwiches were also huge. My BLAT was very good, but again, too much for one meal, especially given the very significant serving of waffle fries. Patti's Reuben with waffle fries was also over ample. So we didn't eat as much as we ate. And we did not appreciate being told by the kind of dingy waitress that the waffle fries were available at no extra cost - only to be charged for them as an "upgrade." Shame on her! We may come back, or we may not. Sometimes customer service is as important as the food. The food is fine here, but the waitress needs to be more careful about what she says. Not OK.

Been here on more than one occasion when visiting friends in Rockford. Food was absolutely…read moredelicious. First time I had a dish called The Cook's Breakfast which was biscuits and gravy topped with corned beef hash , cheese and two eggs. Came back two days later with our friends and got the lemon blueberry French toast and some eggs with a side of bacon. Everything was perfectly cooked both times. The server was absolutely amazing as well!! Will definitely come here every time I'm in Rockford.

Breakfast at Evergreen Inn…read more This morning, in the spirit of liberty and breakfast carbs, I ventured out to the Evergreen Inn to celebrate the Fourth with a fork. Their specials board boasted a short stack paired with a choice of meat--how could I resist? I threw in a couple of scrambled eggs to round things out and waited for the fireworks (on my plate, that is). The pancakes arrived looking like golden perfection--fluffy, inviting, ready to be drenched. Unfortunately, the syrup rations were a bit...conservative. I wouldn't say stingy, but let's just say I had to request two more cups to give those cakes the celebration they deserved. The eggs? Fine. Serviceable. I suspect they started life in a carton, already liquefied and waiting for their destiny. The sausages were decent, the chocolate milk was nostalgic in all the right ways, and the cutlery had clearly survived a few wars of its own. And the ketchup--oh, the ketchup. A bottle proudly labeled "Fancy" does not make it so. If someone brought that stuff to a backyard BBQ, I'd stage a condiment coup and return with a bottle of Heinz. Now, let's talk ambiance. The place is *kind of* clean--clean-adjacent, clean-curious, but not quite committed to the title. Still, nothing alarming, just...comfortably lived-in. What it lacked in polish, the staff made up for in personality. The lone waitress holding down the fort was kind, attentive, and clearly doing the job of three people. Any service slip-ups? Forgiven on the spot. The bill came in a little higher than anticipated, especially for a daily special. But with few breakfast contenders in the area, Evergreen Inn knows it has the home-field advantage--and it's charging rent. Still, the pancakes alone were worth the visit. Just bring your own syrup--and maybe your own ketchup, too.

Got industrial with cement floors , tables made from old doors . Nice touch , it's a little cold and tinny inside , they need to get sound proofing right . Menu is limited as they get started , my kids loved the Brussel sprouts , and we tried both the tomato basil soup and venison chili . The chili was underwhelming as chili should be thick and meaty and this was thin and watery , more of a soup not a chili . Cocktail menu is nice though the paper plane which I ordered had way too much lemon , a good paperplane is equal parts of all ingredients . It looked like they might be trying to be something they aren't with some of the choices , too many ingredients trying to make a craft cocktail , sometimes simple is better and learn to master the classics first . Cocktail prices were high for the area as well The nachos were tasty but need more heat , an option for more pico and maybe some jalapeño , even the candied ones mentioned in another app. Sandwiches looked good but they need an option other than fries , not everyone likes fries with a sandwich . Too many other places within a reasonable drive that are so much better in atmosphere and price for the same quality .
