I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at this local restaurant left me no choice. The biggest problem wasn't the staff or the crowd--it was the manager, Anthony. From the moment we walked in, Anthony was shockingly rude and unnecessarily loud. Instead of helping customers (unless you're an attractive woman) or maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, he spent most of his time flirting and laughing at himself . He routinely creates a loud and disrespectful disposition and laughs it off. This night we practically had to beg to get the Texas girls basketball game on but as soon as the Spurs started all TVs shifted to that. He said I warned you! I would appreciate an explanation. Not a warning I never received. A good manager sets the tone for the entire establishment. Unfortunately, in this case the tone was arrogance and aggression. Hospitality clearly isn't a priority here. Staff looked stressed, customers were being talked down to, and the whole experience felt more like being scolded than being welcomed. There are plenty of places where the atmosphere is friendly and the management understands basic customer service. Until this place addresses the behavior of its management, I'd strongly recommend spending your time--and money--somewhere else. read more

Halftime pizza is my go-to neighborhood pizza joint. On this occasion, I ordered a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms, onions, black olives with extra sauce and baked crispy. The pizza is a ready for pick up on time, looks delicious, and fills my car up with a great aroma as I drove home. When I get home, I sprinkle on the parmesan and hot peppers and dig in. The crust is nice, crispy and the ingredients all blend together so well. Great pizza at a good price, can't beat that. Btw, they also have great wings and onion rings. Really wanted to try this place and left a little disappointed.Made the order online for a pizza / wing + 2L take out special and when we got there it wasn't ready. She told us 20 mins we came back in 10/15min. Pizza was cold to the touch but when reheated at home it tasted good. Wings were good but we felt like small for what you pay got. Garlic knots were a free item with online ordering and glad they were because unfortunately they lacked in flavor big time and were also cold.No flavor just doughy bread. I always choose something I've never tasted before so we had the Entire Chicken Enchilada Pizza & the Pizza Rolls. I always feel food is better at the restaurant vs delivered..it's fresher & hotter. OMG!! Delicious!! If you don't like cilantro you won't like the pizza. I am a cilantro fanatic. Best pizza I have ever had anywhere by far!! Amazing! I had been an Halftime Pizza fan for many years and we even had a birthday celebration here once but I don't know what has happened recently that the customer service has declined. I was with my family a couple of weeks ago a the server came up to us and the first thing she said was " What can I get you to drink?" Not, hello, welcome, how are you all doing? Then when we placed our pizza order we waited and waited then we asked our server and she said she knew it was running behind. The restaurant wasn't busy! Oh my gosh this calzone was soooooo good. The crust is also stuffed with cheese, the garlic tasted fresh, everything was perfect. I stuffed my calzone with ricotta, chicken, and spinach. The location on Bandera is a great place to go great specials, great food and great people. That's what makes the experience good. Ryan. the manager is always there to greet you. I would not recommend eating here. I have seen employees drop pizza rolls, dough knots, wings, etc on the ground and then dust it off on their dirty apron and back on the plate. Employees eating and touching their face, mouth and blowing their noses and then going back to handing food without the decency of washing their hands. The wings are stored in the same container that are used to bus and pick up soiled dishes. And that sign that talks about no frozen food will be served there, and that it's all made fresh....not accurate. I've been to Halftime Pizza about 3 times and have gotten good food and goof service at all times. Their wings are very good as well as their pizza. If you don't want to order a whole pie, they sell pizza by the slice. I ordered 2 slices and a water and my total was no more than $9. It may seem like a high price to pay and you'd think $6 would be reasonable now but those days are long gone forever when you factor in inflation. Sure it may be a bit more higher than what you'd pay at Sam's Club but it's cheaper than Ali's Pizza on Walzem where they charge $13 for 2 slices and a drink. I've yet to try their pizza rolls. They're struggling for business now since COVID and the current economy is hurting them so go eat there as often as you can, Tezel or Bandera, doesn't matter. But Tezel location is my go to spot since it's the original and is located in a quiet area far away from the hustle and bustle traffic on Culebra and Bandera Rd. read more

Halftime has always been our go-to for great pizza and wings. Last couple times we've ordered, including this evening (May 4th) was a disaster! We ordered through Uber Eats and it took well over 2 hours to get our food, which ended up being cold! After the first hour, My fiancée tried calling the store to check status and no one would pick up the phone, I'm sure it's b/c they saw his name and number in caller id! . He was in contact with the Uber Eats delivery driver who was keeping him posted, stating she's been waiting as well. The delivery driver actually gave the phone to the manager so he can speak with her. Deliver driver is the one who kept us notified of any updates b/c again, no one would answer his calls. Now onto hour 2, I called from my phone and what do ya know, they answered! I asked for the manager, she was the one who answered. She's trying to explain they were busy and only had 2 in the kitchen then informed that our food was given to someone else. Of course we were upset as we've been waiting well over 2 hours and had spent nearly $60.00! She apologized, offered a refund and said she'd call Uber eats but if she couldn't get through, she'd have them call us. I asked for a call back from the owner as well. 12:33 am May 5th, and of course no call back from anyone! I feel bad for the delivery driver as she had to sit and wait as well! Great local pizza joint in SA! Great happy hour specials on beer and pizza rolls plus daily specials that are worth a visit. With that being said, I dont live too close to it but its worth the straight drive to get here. The pizza is a great solid pizza with a sturdy and crunchy crust and ample toppings. Pepperoni was not greasy and had a nice light spicy flavor. The wings are worth a visit as they are plump, flavorful, and covered in a nice sauce. They have happy hour daily and usually have their pizza rolls as one of te menu items. Highly recommend you try the pizza rolls along with the space dust beer. Great combination and delicious taste. If your trying to catch a game they have plenty of tvs all around so you can't miss anything regardless of where your sitting. Our waiter Ryan was great! He usually works at the other location but he happened to be there that night and he had exceptional service. Very attentive, quick and made enjoyable conversation. I am a big fan of Haltime on Tezel. It is close enough to my house for me to walk to it, but in this hot weather, I usually only walk home for the exercise rather than getting there sweaty and stinky. I really like the meatball sliders, but my favorite thing there is the bourbon bacon pizza by the slice. I actually find myself craving it and head over for a few beers and a slice fairly often. I have met groups of teachers here several times for happy hour. They are bat-ship crazy for the pizza rolls. I am always awestruck by the huge platters of them sitting in our table. The servers here are awesome. They are very attentive and always get my orders right. I love the selection of craft beers. I wish it got changed out a little more, but it is s good selection. I also wish they would bring back the red sangria which was very popular with my wife and others. The chicken enchilada pizza is amazing, but I eat too much. I prefer to buy pizza by the slice. By the way... the slices are cheap on Tuesdays and they are Huge. I have to count them as 2 1/2 on my meal plan. read more
