What went well? Everything. I believe this is the best tasting pizza I have ever had. Maybe it's the love that it is made with or just the homemade ingredients. Damn. It's good. Service was superior, kind and considerate. It's pretty much just to go so you have to grab and go or grab a quick munch before you leave the parking lot. But it is so worth waiting for. Wish I could give a review of their pizza but unfortunately after 3 tries, I can never find a time when he is open. Hours are definitely not what is listed on the website and apparently are flexible depending on when he decides to open. This time it took my on-line order so I figured "all was good". First time customer. I love pizza and will pay top dollar for a great pie. I paid $33 for a XL pizza. 16 inch with 5 toppings. The pizza was mediocre at best. Barely there toppings that were not fresh. Could not taste the sauce. Heavy on the cheese and the crust was bland and tasteless. This was on par with the frozen Red Barron pizza from Walmart. Order out only. Friendly service over the phone when I called, friendly service in person. I was picking up my order about 8:30 p.m. Drove up to owner outside chatting with a lady seated at a small table chatting with her dog hanging out on a leash. My order was ready, I was given a preview sneak peak into the box and given the total of $22.80. It was a large, 3 topping pizza with pepperoni, sausage & mushrooms. Let the lady know I was a first timer and she said "you're gonna love it! Everything is fresh." Sounds good to me. Got home 5 min later and tried a slice. It was good. Fresh gooey cheese, there was a bit too much (I know! Who complains about that! Ugh! & I love cheese!) mostly because it overpowered that sauce that was so tasty sitting on top of the yummy, crispy yet chewy crust. Toppings of pepperoni, sausage & mushroom definitely didn't overpower that cheese. They were good and they were fresh. For my first time, I'd say this place made a good first impression. This hidden family run pizzaria was a great find. Pack your patience and prepare for a delicious fresh pizza. Crust is crispy and tomato sauce is light and tasty. It did take 45 minutes mainly due to peek Saturday 7pm rush and just mom and pop running the operation. I assume due to COVID, kitchen help is a luxury. Came to this modest yet warm family business tucked away on a quiet street just off the bustling main road (Wurbach). Came here based on reviews in Yelp which were almost all complimentary. As a general rule, even bad pizza is good so I thought I would trust Yelpers in this one because I wanted to try something new plus If I wound up liking it I lived close enough to make this a regular place for take out. A dignified looking woman I assume to be Maria was at the counter and I could see her husband putting meats on the pizza with care and concentration. He did not look up when I walked in. I felt like these are good people who work hard and as a team to support themselves through this business. I liked that image. Anyway, I ordered a large veggie (14 inches) for $20.60 and a large pepperoni for $13.50. With tax came to about $37 It was very plain, borderline not good. Remember Cici's before they revamped? Yea, it is like that. Very meh. I generally prefer thin crust to reduce carbs to the bare minimum while at the same time not compromising on the bread to such an extreme to the point of being a cracker. So I was a little concerned by some reviews that said the crust was too cracker-like. It is just a degree over cracker and the bread tastes like a drop biscuit with maybe a tad too much baking powder. Anyway, It is not good enough for me to become a regular. read more

The toppings and sauce (a bit sweet) were both good but the crust was more like a thick cracker than a typical pizza crust. I am so glad I decided to buy from her as oppose to settling for chain pizza places that just never hit the spot. I LOVE New York style pizza and that is what you are getting from Maria's. I for one am a "easy on the sauce" person, and that is how they naturally make it. If you are a sauce lover I suggest you ask for extra sauce on your pie.
