My go-to place for boba tea. I have tried many places here in LA for boba milk teas, but none of the them can beat Half and Half's boba milk teas in terms of flavor and taste. Half and Half has the right combination of the right amount of teas, milk and a lot of tender bobas. The bobas are cooked to the right tenderness and the right sweetness so they wouldn't over powered the tea flavor. To top that off, they have many varieties of tasty toppings. My favorite topping is definitely the grass jelly. During Covid-19, there's always a long line outside of the store. But you can call ahead to order your favorite drink and then pick it up without waiting, just pay. There are plenty of parkings right in front of the store. This is perhaps the smallest Half & Half Tea Express I visited. They are currently offering $1 off any drinks promotion. I ordered two rose milk teas with boba over the phone since there are no minimum for phone orders. I called them prior leaving my house and my drinks were ready by the time I got there. My friends and I just had dinner next door at Ramen Yukinoya and were incredibly full...but we couldn't resist Half and Half so we got one large Rose Green Milk Tea with less sugar to share. Rose Green Milk Tea -- I would not recommend. I've gotten the Rose Black Milk Tea before and that I will confidently say is much better! The less sugar was also meh. I like things sweeet! Seating -- Very minimal. There's just a bench for you to wait for your drink inside. There is not a lot of room for you to go and chill. In my most recent trip I encountered the most unpleasant staff, I'm not sure if these folks are just unhappy underpaid or both, but there's absolutely no need to give off that rude rushed energy to your paying customers. I get a half ass greeting, I order my first drink and then instantly the girl gives me my total...not asking if that concludes my order or anything and I tell her I'm ordering another drink...and she laughs and said oh oops, and then gives me my ticket number and that's it...the interaction just seemed so rushed(mind you there was no one behind me) I know these places can get busy, but you can't forget your customer service manners. Dropped in around 9pm on a Thursday night and it was super empty! Remembered that Half and Half usually is cash only, but was pleasantly surprised they took card at this location. Ordered the Milk Candy milk tea with tiny boba and that was my go-to order. However, I realized this drink is a little too sweet for my taste now. Very milky though and tastes like what it's named for condensed milk tea! Love the tiny boba, even after leaving it in the fridge for the next day, it was still easier to bite into than the regular boba. Also ordered the fresh green milk tea with regular boba for my boyfriend, and this flavor hit the spot for him. Simple but super yummy! Service is very fast, as they got my drink down the staff was already preparing it, but I wanted some add ons and they were happy to make the changes before it was done! I order the honey & grass jelly, when we order it the cashier doesn't even know they have this item. I understand this is not a popular item, the cashier said that she will figure it out. But look what I got, a cup of ice water with little grass jelly for 7 DOLLARS!!!. No flavor, no sweet at all. Clearly, this isn't the item that I want , I had this before so I know what is look like. Been here a couple times for boba when I'm in the area. I've tried a variety of the milk teas. I like how they have an extensive menu, but the quality of the drink seems to vary a lot with each visit. The last time I went for a red bean milk tea, the flavor was pretty bland. The time before that, I had a pretty tasty rose milk tea. This is a decent spot for boba when you're in the area (which is the case for me), otherwise there are probably plenty of other spots to try. read more

Update: Came back to redeem stamp cards. There was a line outside with many people six feet apart. Props to the cashier for getting down my complicated order!! I was worried it would be hard due to me being quiet/bad pronunciation. And also for allowing me to have the summer upgrade/topping/bag (desperately needed the bag for groceries and didn't have anymore hands haha). I feel like I was being a needy customer yesterday, so glad the staff was patient. Always love coming to half and half for the toppings. Rant: Of course, due to it being a small store, it's hard to socially distance when you pick up your drink after you order, but it's hard for the employees to mange the people outside, but hopefully customers are more careful/trying do the best to their ability. I Love Half and Half!! This one's nice because it also accepts card! All of their drinks taste good, it's hard to get one that you won't like (unless you just don't like milk tea). Their boba is seriously some of the best I've had!! The time that I went, the sign wasn't on so I thought that the Half and Half was no longer there, but I guess they just haven't adjusted to the darkness that comes at 5 PM! Their beverages are amazing! I love how even though it was my first time going, they were still very patient as my family members were still deciding what to order. The area is fairly small though so if a lot of people go in at the same time, there won't be much space to stand around. The boba pearls are very soft, it doesn't harden very quickly! I love how well the boba goes together with the beverages. Can't forget the numerous amount of food and snacks they offer, I heard they're delicious. Personally, I've never really been a huge fan of Half and Half drinks. I've tried their iced milk drink with caramel+egg pudding+boba, Thai tea, jasmine green milk tea, and the candy milk smoothie. The tea taste is too strong for my preference, and oddly enough, most of the drinks taste watered down. I recently had a random craving for Half and Half, so I went in and tried the brown sugar black milk tea with egg pudding and honeyboba. This one was really the game changer for me. This drink was probably the best boba drink I've had in a while. The boba from Half and Half definitely is my favorite of all the boba shops in the 626 area, even better than that of A+ Tea House in my opinion! I love how the boba is warm and sweet. Half & Half is extremely average. It's just like any other boba place but just a bit better than others because I've been to terrible boba places and this isn't one of them. They have a HUGE menu full of teas, slushies, milk teas, smoothies, etc. so there's something for everyone. The drinks in general are pretty above average so I have no complaints there. The service however, is pretty bad because they either don't greet you, or they just don't care about your well-being as a paying customer. Of course Half and Half cup sizes are larger compared to some, but their prices seem to be consistant and I consider them reasonable. There wasn't much of a line on a rainy Saturday. The service was pretty good. Our two drinks came out promptly. There are no tables to hang out here. They have a variety of teas and coffee drinks. You can adjust the sweetness level which is really good. It comes in two sizes: a medium or large. The cups have a bulky shape but fit perfectly in your cup holders. This is a pretty small shop that can be found in the same plaza as Aldi and CVS. I ordered an iced milk drink with caramel, honey boba, and grass jelly. Although the order was right on the receipt, I noticed they had given me egg pudding instead of grass jelly so just a heads up and make sure your drink is right before you leave. The order taker was very kind and repeated my order and my drink came out pretty fast. I felt like my drink had the perfect amount of sweetness for my liking. Their business practice is dishonest and misleading to the customers. When you visit, try and find on the menu how much their drinks cost. That's right; you can't, because there is no price anywhere in the store! The only way for you to find out is to go and place your order at the register. I can't think of any restaurants or boba places that do not tell their customers how much their items cost until they order them. Of course, you can then say you don't want to drink anymore at the register after finding out their ridiculous price, but it definitely adds pressure on the customer to complete the transaction at that point. This goes into my next point, which is the "promotion" they are currently running, which in reality it's just to hide their recent price increase. At the time of writing, they are running a fall promotion that offers you a free large-size upgrade + a free topping of your choice (except boba). Like me, you must be thinking wow, that's a pretty good deal. I ordered a large milk tea with lychee jelly, and the receipt comes out to $6.98 before tax! I almost spit my jelly out, thinking that they must've forgotten to apply for the promotion. Turns out, they have increased their base price to $6.98 FOR A REGULAR SIZE DRINK WITH NO TOPPINGS! They are simply using this promotion to make you think you're getting good value while increasing their prices. After this promotion is over, you'll either be paying close to $10 for a single drink if you get a large drink with boba. That's insane compared to all the options you can get here in SGV or LA and the superior quality they offer. Used to visit all the time, but will never again. read more

Love the convenience of this and their consistent great quality in drinks! I love coming here after I eat at Ramen Yukinoya or after I go do some shopping at CVS and Aldi market. The drinks are made very quickly and they have stamp card valid only at the Express locations listed on the card. As someone who is so indecisive on how to order drinks, I am grateful they have a lot of popular combinations listed for you on the wall behind you as you order at the cashier. You can even control the sugar level and on the menu, they tell you what options are caffeine free. So far we have tried: Almond Milk Tea and Honey Boba Iced Milk Drink with Caramel, Pudding and Honey Boba Bo's Coffee Latte and Honey Boba Osmanthus Ice Milk Drink with Pudding and Boba The drinks are a bit pricey but it is like a big bucket so it might be a good value in the end, depending on who you ask haha. This Half and Half Express is definitely a more convenient location than the one up on Foothill. Located in the CVS/Aldi plaza by Ramen Yukinoya and Baskin Robbin's, this boba shop is quite small - ideal for dropping by to get a drink before leaving. Parking is rarely a problem as the plaza doesn't get too busy. Drinks are consistent and the price is pretty decent compared to what the other nearby independent boba shops are charging. Go-to drinks are usually the iced milk with boba, caramel, and pudding and the honey green tea with boba. I do feel like they don't give as much boba in their gigantic tub of a cup as other locations, but taste-wise, the flavors are always on point. The honey green tea tastes and looks like it's made with real, brewed tea. Not too sweet, not bitter - I can taste the green tea and the honey combination. Their signature iced milk is always amazing - it's a pretty sweet drink with all the ingredients packed inside, but it's definitely refreshing on a hot day. Boba is always cooked amazingly well - just the right consistency with enough spring and chewiness. They also give a generous scoop of pudding into the cup, which I think is pretty great. Overall, a pretty solid boba/tea location in Arcadia. The only downside is that there aren't tables/chairs (besides the ones they offer to waiting customers) where you can sit and enjoy your drink. But given the vicinity and how tiny the shop is, it's probably for the better. Workers are pretty nice - and they seem to know what they're doing to ensure that you don't spend too long waiting for your drinks. tl;dr - Quality tea at a relatively cheap price. Cash only! They no longer offer plastic bags if you order a ton of drinks, so be prepared to pay an extra few cents if you need a bag.
