Crepes
Daniel L.

Isaac greeted my friend and I when we arrived for breakfast and recommended the corned beef hash with eggs on top. It's homemade and was a really good recommendation! The corned beef is large chunks, not small diced pieces found in most commercial and canned hash. The potatoes, peppers, and onions gave a nice texture and flavor. I had it topped with two over medium eggs which were perfectly cooked. As I was eyeing the French toast, he gave me a single piece which included their fruit infused whipped cream and was really, really good! That might be my entree next time. My friend got the crepes and her face was doing happy expressions while she was eating. My new best friend Maria kept my coffee mug full-she visited the table frequently to make sure my mug never got low nor cold. She also took care to clean the table promptly as plates were finished. Now if my kids could learn that... oh wait, this is a diner review. The ambiance is cute and chic. There was easy access to accommodate wheel chairs and they have their menu clearly marked for gluten free available and vegan options (most of the menu). The menu is on the fancier side; they will prepare whatever someone wants (e.g. if someone just wants 2 eggs and bacon, they can easily do that). The location is on Main St. so parking is hit or miss. If you are nearby and want something good, this is a good option!

Never have I seen desis owning an American breakfast joint. The staff here was amazing and friendly. The food here is good. There is an omelet bar here but they don't use different pans for making a veg omelet. I did taste meat on my omelet. I was fine eating it but others at the table weren't. I guess it would be nice if they used a separate pan. The food came out in a jiffy. The sandwich here was delicious. Overall it was a good experience. Ringing the bell on the way out was such a cute concept. The kiddos really enjoyed it.

Coffee while we wait

**Worth Every Minute of the Wait!** My husband and I visited Half and Half around 10 AM on a Sunday morning, and I'm so glad we stuck it out through the line that stretched halfway down the block! While they don't take names for their waitlist, the gentleman at the front assured us he'd remember us--and he absolutely did. The line moved surprisingly quickly, and we were seated in about 20 minutes. The food was fantastic! My husband ordered the hash and eggs (on our server Isaac's recommendation--great call!) and I went with the eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were absolutely perfect: beautifully runny yolks with whites cooked all the way through. The hashbrowns were delicious and perfectly crispy. My only minor critique would be that the English muffin on my Benedict was a bit tough to cut through, but honestly, that just meant I got to savor my meal a little longer! What really sets Half and Half apart is the exceptional service. Isaac, our server, was attentive and friendly with great recommendations. The coffee flowed freely while we waited for our food (which didn't take long at all). The attention to detail was impressive--when my husband dropped his napkin, someone had a fresh one waiting for him before he could even get up from the table! The atmosphere has a wonderful 1950s diner vibe that feels authentically family-owned. Even if it's not, the entire staff maintains that warm, welcoming family feeling that makes you want to come back. All in all, the combination of delicious food, remarkable service, and charming atmosphere makes Half and Half a must-visit breakfast spot in Reading. We'll definitely be back!

French toast (Not bad but a bit on the dry side and could use more fruit)

Had a solid breakfast here, would return to try more menu items. Vibe: Small breakfast place, a half step more upscale than a diner with personal decor. Indoor seating, they pack a lot of small tables in a narrow space. Service: Servers were VERY attentive. We were seating and drinks were served immediately. The food look a good while longer to come out. Food: I got the French toast which wasn't bad. On the dryer side and the fruit served with it was minimal. I did like the touch of the flavored butter and they had real maple syrup available. My partner got the savory waffle and that was delicious! Really packed with flavor, a solid breakfast item that I would recommend. Value: Prices on par Overall this was a nice place to get breakfast, with speedy and attentive service and some good plates, would try again.

Avocado Toast with eggs

Searched for a place near my hotel that served avocado toast and this place came up. Gives off diner vibes and that was nice. The service was great and friendly. The food was delivered hot and fresh. We had no complaints. Avocado toast was so creamy and delicious. The eggs Benedict was classic and flavorful. You can taste the freshness of the eggs and I really appreciate that. They have this bell by the door and ask you to ring if you enjoyed your meal. That bell was ringing the entire time by customers that enjoyed themselves. We definitely rang that bell too.

Corned Beef Hash

When we first sat down we were welcomed and told that they serve the best corned beef hash in New England and they weren't lying!!! My boyfriend is a certified corned beef lover and confidently said it was the best he had ever had. He also was very excited about being able to pick how many eggs it came with. I had a chicken panini with waffle fries which was great. I feel like it's rare to find a place with such diverse French fry offerings! The service was also lovely and it was well decorated inside. This was a good halfway point between Boston and the north shore and I will definitely be returning!

This cute spot has quickly become our go to breakfast spot on the weeken. Delicious breakfast options, reasonably priced and great service. The corned beef hash is a must try. Their huevos rancheros, avocado toast, and eggs benedicts are also great options. They have an omelet bar and offer espresso based drinks. Place is usually packed and is on a first come first serve basis but we haven't had to wait too long.

This place was a dream! I am Gluten free/ celiac and the owner here absolutely understands and makes this place safe. Came here early on a Saturday and got seated after only a short wait of 10 min. Got sat right by the door so we kept getting pumped by other patrons. That was a bummer but glad we had a table. The menu was great and GF items were just an upcharge of +$2, not bad! We ordered and it took forever for our food. Tables all around us got their food and even tables that sat after we ordered got their food before us. That was confusing but after 30 minutes we did get our food. We think it was because it was GF. Food was wonderful. Even with the long food wait and the awkward seating, we would come back again and again! This was DELICIOUS!

The food is great, especially the crispy french toast. I'm very impressed. The service is a bit slow, but it's understandable since it seems a family-oriented restaurant. Also, I believe I wrote the tip on the check, but it looks like they only charged for the food. Not sure if this is accidental, but I'll definitely visit again soon.

Eggs Benedict, crunchy French toast, huevos rancheros

My fiancé who is a French toast expert said the crunchy French toast was quite possibly the best she's ever had. Got sat down quickly on Easter Sunday. Well oiled machine for service. Good vibes. Quick service. Food quality was the main driver for the review. Surprisingly inexpensive for the quality. Kudo's to the people that are running this place.

The staff, I think owner, was so attentive. He took our baby's order right away and got that going while we hade coffee and decided. We were very happy with our meals - custom omelet and a filled crepe. The baby enjoyed the fish tank. The place is really cute. We will go back. They were good to donate to a recent charity auction so I wanted to give them some business.

Have been just a few times here for breakfast and I really need to go more. This is a wonderful family friendly restaurant right on Main Street. Decent size, lots of seating option including low tops, high tops, and counter. Great variety on the menu and prices are affordable. I love how nice they are to kids here, they understand what kids like and make really high quality food. Pancakes are wonderful, they often have special French toasts and waffles as well that are so yummy and perfectly executed. Bacon is always crispy, never undercooked. Coffee is fantastic (sometimes hit or miss at diners) and is refilled often. A great stop for breakfast!

Tried Half & Half in Massachusetts for brunch around 10:40-11:00, and the place was packed and pretty noisy. The music choice was... interesting, but it did keep the energy up. I ordered the W.T.F (Waffles Tender Fries). The chicken tender was thin but crispy, and while the flavor was lacking, for the price they really could've included three pieces. The Belgian waffles were dense, and the waffle fries were overcooked and tough, like they'd been left in the fryer too long. The coleslaw was fresh with a nice zest, but overall the dish didn't feel worth the cost -- a 5/10 for me. The Philly cheesesteak, on the other hand, was great. Good portion size, flavorful, and paired well with the steak fries. Definitely the better choice -- 7.7/10. Overall, food was hit or miss, atmosphere was lively but loud, and for the price point, I expected a bit more.

My husband is not a big fan of sweets, but after I came home with one of the fruit covered specialty pastries, he now asks me to bring one home whenever I go. My family and I have also tried some of the savory options for lunch recently. My husband had the Modena on a croissant and he said it was the best breakfast sandwich he's ever had. His only regret was not ordering two! I had the Milano. It was perfect. The chicken was light and crispy, and the veggies were fresh. The crisp bread contained just the right amount of mayo. My mom had the Minestrone, which contained a very generous amount of various vegetables and greens. She enjoyed her soup very much. My dad had the bolognese. The sauce was rich and the meat, tender. The pasta itself was, of course, excellent. Lastly, I've been several times for the coffee. The Marocchino is definitely my guilty pleasure. I've also enjoyed the brewed coffee! Looking forward to future visits!

The service was really good, and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and made good recommendations. For our appetizers, we had bang-bang broccoli and crispy chicken dumplings. The broccoli was so amazing. It didn't feel mushy, and it was the perfect crisp. The dumplings were also great and had a good flavor. For my drink, I had a margarita. It had a nice kick, but it wasn't overwhelmingly strong. For my entrée, I had Baked Tortellini Bolognese. It was so good, and there was so much food on the plate that I had some leftover to take back with me. The short rib and sausage were both tender. Everything on the tortellini was amazing. The short rib packed such a great flavor, and it was so tender. It easily made the dish. I'm so glad I went with my gut and ordered. They also took great care regarding my shellfish allergy and checked to make sure I had no issues, as someone in my group had ordered seafood. I thought that it was very considerate of them to do. Overall, I enjoyed my visit, and if I am in town for business again, I hope that we are able to stop back by.
