Why the hell am I wearing Gucci and Dior?? You know I'm a Burberry only man ;) IYKYK, IYDYD, EWTRMGO Anywho, where were we? Oh yeah... Sitting poolside waiting for that drink... And now that I think of it, I'm kinda hungry too! And suddenly, just like that, a friendly voice said... Hi, I'm __________ let me know if you want to order something. Instantly, my day just got a little better! Without having to get up from our spot, we ordered a little snack to hold us over till dinner. A Tai Chi for me. A Lava flow for my wife. Chicken tenders with fries for the kids. And just a "little something" for us... A pepperoni pizza, Parmesan Garlic Fries & Koloa Pork Nachos for everybody to share, let's just say... It. Was. Glorious. The prices? I guess some would say it's pricey... But you're at GRAND HYATT KAUAI RESORT... So. Live. It. Up. Y.O.L.O Or as I like to say..... Y.O.L.O.U.Y.A.C The service was good, but sometimes we seemed to have to wait a while for our assigned server to come back to our area. (If you don't want to wait, you can always order directly from the counter and wait for your food/drinks to be prepared) The food always comes out hot and stays warm in their nice containers which have lids to keep the birds away. Because of the convenience and the quality of food, we landed up ordering from here multiple times over the course of our stay while poolside soaking up the sun and splashing in their epic pool. Remember earlier when I said the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort has one of the best pools in the world? Well I meant it! A ginormous salt water lagoon pool, a lazy river that connects multiple pools together, 3 hot tubs, a water slide and an "adult" only (14+) pool area.... This resort is worth its weight In Pool water. Best part, Hale Nalu is at your service wherever you happen to be sitting poolside. A very solid 3-4 stars. My husband and I were both impressed by our casual meals here! We stopped by multiple times during our stay and they were conveniently just what we needed. We didn't expect pool side, lounging food to be both this delicious and healthy overall. Since pork is a Hawaiian speciality we had to get some pork dishes. The pork nachos and quesadilla were both tender and flavorful with hearty portions. Nothing quite as wonderful to top off your fancy schmancy vacation than poolside food service, other than the friendly service though I think that's about all this spot has going for it in the sea of incredible food around Kauai. If you're going to order I definitely recommend the fish tacos though, delicious and probably the proper portion size for a healthy diet but a hefty price tag for sure! Alongside we paired with a shrimp salad that had great taste but only 4 shrimp to the price tag. You can't beat the ocean view though especially if you snag a spot at the lagoon looking over the waves. read more

Solid pool food at the grand Hyatt. I would recommend the wings as it is a good size filling portion. The flavor profile is excellent and we went back to the wings the next day as a great mid day option at the pool. The nachos are massive. I would recommend the snacks around the pool. The price is appropriately high as expected at a high end resort. But well worth it to stay at the pool. Avoid the Seaview terrace at the Grand Hyatt as that food is terrible and very overpriced. read more

Review is for drinks only; we didn't get food. Drinks are insanely overpriced given they contain little to no alcohol. We stayed here for 6 nights and between my family of 6 we got at least 20+ drinks over our time here. At least half of them had no alcohol. Frustrating to pay $16 for a sugary drink with absolutely zero poolside buzz. I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, yet felt absolutely nothing with the majority of the drinks I ordered or tasted of my family members'. If you're ok with plunking down $13-17 for a small sugary smoothie, then this is the place for you. So good! This restaurant is the main food area by the pools at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. I had the fish tacos on my first day and absolutely loved every single bite. The Locals Only drink blended or on the rocks was delish and refreshing. I tried both versions :) I also had the shrimp wreck salad later in the week and was very pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted. It had avocado, nuts, blackened shrimp, and plenty of greens. It was my only salad of the trip, haha, and it did not disappoint. I tried the mango smoothie and strawberry banana smoothies and loved both. Wish I were still there! read more

My favorite bar! Spectacular outdoor location with amazing views of the pool & the ocean. The food & drinks are also pretty good. Ordered the Mango Green Dream - sooo good. Was immediately hooked. Went back to have that drink as many times as I could. Also tried the Lava Flow, it was good but the Mango Green was just something else. Ordered some fish tacos, really enjoyed them & in fact went back to get more! The chicken wings were average. Nicest & coolest waitress. She was friendly & helpful with the menu. Great value for island prices. Big portions of mouth watering options. Helpful staff. My kids loved the Mac n cheese, chicken tenders, and grilled cheese. My husband raved about his fish tacos and hamburger. I enjoyed the hummus wrap and Cantonese salad. Get the dressing on the side for the salad. Shaved ice with ice cream and sweetened condensed milk was a HUGE hit with my kids. Wide option of flavors meant they could each pick a favorite. I personally prefer the ice cream bars. Also don't forget the fun drink options. We enjoyed virgin locals only, Oreo shakes and lava flows. Highly recommend. read more

This restaurant is basically the poolside restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. If you were to order drinks or snacks (nachos, loaded fries, burgers, etc) from the pool or outdoor lounge area from a waitress,'chances are the food came from this place. We came here for a quick lunch after checking out of the hotel. Wife got the mahi mahi fish tacos, while I got the short rib sliders. I think the sliders were the better dish nice use of Hawaiian sweet bread as the bun. Meat was seasoned well. The tacos were okay as well - nothing too remarkable. Probably far below in quality compared to any the poolside restaurants from the Cancun all-inclusive resorts we've been to. Still, not a bad option if you're in a real hurry and just want a quite bite. read more

I needed to grab a bite before I checked out of the hotel so this was really convenient. There were quite a number of food options from healthier salads to unhealthy burgers and kalua pork sandwiches. Guess which I got. You'd be correct if you said kalua pork! I'm not a health nut and am not in Hawaii to go on a diet, but boy was this sandwich not good for me. There was orange oil dripping from it, and they gilded the lily when they topped the pork with two onion rings. Talk about 400 extra calories I didn't need. I must've been really hungry because it actually tasted decent. read more

This is a great poolside dining restaurant. The servers will come around to the poolside chairs or you can just order from the restaurant and eat there. They have burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, fries, nachos, sandwiches, etc. I had a poke bowl here, my MIL had a turkey sandwich & fries, my kids had chicken strips and fries. We all enjoyed our food very much. They have this really great oolong iced tea in the cooler. They also have sodas. At the Hyatt they give you these water bottles to fill and there's a water dispenser right next to the restaurant so no need to buy water if you have your bottle. There's also plastic cups for water too so again don't buy bottled water :). You can get smoothies and cocktails here too. Lots of seating in the shade. The service around all of the Grand Hyatt is phenomenal and top notch. read more

The Dock deserves 3 stars for food and service. At around $14 each, the cocktails were yummy but weren't very strong. So it was hard to order just one. My favorite cocktails were the the Mai Tai and the Lava Flow (a pina coloda with strawberry puree). The food included salad, sandwiches, fries, and small bites. There was nothing too heavy especially if your were going for a swim before or after. It's the only poolside dining option. I liked the spring rolls and the fish tacos. The Dock menu is spread out with a bar, a small restaurant, and waiters moving around the pools. read more

Standard hotel place for pricey casual fare in a convenient spot. Got the burger, nachos supreme, and kids' grilled cheese. Everything was fine...nothing was remarkably good, but then again nothing was an overpriced disappointment. So it's not a tourist trap in that sense. The shaved ice was pretty good with condensed milk ($6). Got the lemon lime and papaya flavors, kids loved it! It was their first hawaiian shaved ice. If you're looking for a fast restaurant in the Grand Hyatt then this is the place! It's right by the pool with some picnic table seating. You order at the cashier and then find a seat. They bring the food to you. I ordered the fish tacos with the chipotle sauce and it was decent. However, it was $20 for 2 tacos - I guess that's a steal? I also had a canned drink that was $5. Menu is standard bar fare with some local flavour thrown in. Good place to find some shade, grab a drink and watch whatever sporting event might be on. In my case (NBA finals and the Stanley Cup). Staff a very friendly, so are all the patrons. Always happy to strike up some conversation. Started with a fruit smoothie pool side to keep cool. Very delicious and refreshing. A bit later had the fish tacos in the shade of the bar and I was surprised at how delicious they were. Most of the time you don't expect much from poolside dining but there tacos were delicious. The Dock is a casual poolside restaurant at the Grand Hyatt. My husband and I ate here several times and each time the food was good and service was great. What I liked about the Dock was that it's located right by the pool, so you can swim to your hearts content and then get out and have your lunch right by the pool. They have a couple of seating areas so check out the one which has a little balcony to it. The drinks there were very nice and tropical and the food was standard fare but it was flavorful and not greasy! They do have some healthy options like salad but I usually ended up eating the chicken burger or fries and each time I was happy with my food! Prices are high but then again its the Hyatt and you're on vacation :) read more

I'm not really sure why this place gets mediocre reviews. My fiance and I stayed here in February for a week (just finding out yelp didn't post any of my very detailed, in depth reviews that I wrote after we returned) and we ordered food poolside or at the bar from here almost every single day. Yes, it's expensive (very expensive) but everything at such resorts on an island in the middle of the ocean are expensive so I was not surprised. I have to say though, I genuinely enjoyed ALL of the food I ate here. My fiance and I to this day, 8 months later, still RAVE about their poke bowl and say it is the best we've ever had. The Dock is the poolside diner at the Grand Hyatt. As such, the selection is good; you can get the signature Hyatt drinks (my favorite is the Mt. Waialeale cooler, basically a refreshingly light pina-colada-esque beverage with soda water, coconut rum, and pineapple juice.) You can also get sandwiches, fries, and other light snacks. For what it is, it is tasty without being too overpriced. I am a fan of the fish tacos, which are well-portioned and have a tasty sauce. Don't let the birds get your meal! Ate lunch here almost every day during our vacation. Every meal was very good. Really liked the Dekine chicken sandwich. Only complaint is that the pool side service was horrible.
