I had dinner there twice and had poke bowl, fish salad and tacos. Everything was ok but i am not gonna lie, i looked at other people's plates and wished I had their food instead of mine lol. What a view! Add the strongest tiki vibes & I'm all in. You can park at Lydgate park and easily walk over, if you are not staying at the Hilton. You place your order, are handed your finely crafted tiki drinks and are given a buzzer for your food. We ordered two versions of the Mai Tai and both were delicious, you can't go wrong. There was plenty of covered seating to choose from. The basic burger was cooked to perfection and delicious. I love sweet pickles, so I was a happy girl. Near Lydgate beach is Mamahune's serving drinks and some grub. My family enjoyed the snacks especially the fish tacos, comes with two and came with fresh grilled ono. The poke was delicious too. Ok the view is great. But I'm sitting here wondering if it's all Hilton employees writing the reviews or if we just caught them on a bad day. The review that mentioned a $10 Mai tai at happy hour...well it's happy hour and when I asked about HH specials the very unfriendly/disengaged bartender said well we don't have draft beer now so it's just the wine. (Not even any info on what that even meant.) ok fine a mai tai, given the reviews. This is the lamest most watery tasting mai tai I've ever had (which is plenty.) Great views but if you want a view and a drink stick with a bottled beer or something they can't mess up. read more

I visited Mamahune's in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, Hawaii [located at the Hilton Garden Inn Wailua Bay: 3-5920 Kuhio Hwy] on Friday, 01/23/26, around 5 PM. I decided to stop by because of the drink specials offered Monday through Sunday from 4-6 PM. I happily ordered the Mai Tai for $10. The drink was crafted with the perfect balance of rum and sweetness, and the fresh pineapple slice paired with a beautiful orchid was truly the cherry on top. I loved the entire ambiance of the tiki bar. The space was designed as an outdoor environment with plenty of chairs and tables, along with bar-top seating. The décor was lovely to observe, especially the addition of tiki torches. The bartenders were even super kind and attentive. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience at Mamahune's. This tiki bar is definitely worth stopping by while in Kapaʻa. read more

I've been coming here for years for drinks, but finally tried some food and both of the things I've tried were really good! Had Kalua pork tacos and kalua pork nachos. Both were generous portions. Especially the nachos. We shared the nachos between 4 of us with some Mai tai's ($10 during happy hour m-f 4-6pm) This is such a great little spot with friendly service and incredible views. There is a kids menu which is great and surprisingly when we went there was no cross contamination in the fryer for our son with nut allergies. The mai tais were definitely not my husband and I'd favorite, unfortunately. And we shared the nachos, which were fine, but we wouldn't order them again. Mamahune's on Kuhio is a fun and laid-back tiki bar with views of the beach and Pacific Ocean. Mamahune's was honestly just alright. There's really nothing to write home about. I wasn't able to get pictures before my family dug in but we ordered fish tacos and coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was pretty yummy, but they didn't really taste like coconut and they were kind of heavy/buttery. I like the fish tacos, they were the best thing we ordered. They they were light and easy to eat but I felt like they would have been better accompanied by a sweet chili sauce. Service was pretty good and everyone was friendly. I don't think I would come back here during my trip though only because I think the food was just kind of average and plain, but everything else was good. read more

Great little tiki bar located right on the Hilton property near Lydgate Beach. Bartenders are fantastic across the board and really make the experience. Drinks are strong and well made, with a solid variety of rums to choose from. You truly can't go wrong with any of the Mai Tais. Food was surprisingly good. We loved the kalua pork nachos, the poke bowl, and the panko battered keiki tenders. Perfect beach bar food but done right. If you're staying at the Hilton, you get two free Mai Tai vouchers per day at check in, which makes this spot an easy go to. One of the highlights was the chickens casually wandering up to the bar and the locals sharing background stories and cultural insight about the island. This is an adorable little tiki bar with amazing views of the beach. You order at a counter. The woman working was really nice and gave us recommendations. I got the fresh catch tacos. The fresh catch today was ono. I had never tried it before but really enjoyed it. I got the cilantro lime crema and mango lomilomi on it and honestly they were incredible. My husband got the fried chicken with the lilikoi hot sauce. They lilikoi didn't come through as much as we wanted it to, but it was still really good. It came with bleu cheese. They had fountain Diet Coke and it was a really good brew. I would recommend this spot for a great bite with an even better view. read more

UPDATE Last night in Kauai.... Still good, still very popular in the evening. More snacky options like nachos, burgers, a salad and a couple desserts options. I have not had a bad meal eating here: the parmesan fries are the best in a long time, I suspect the chef double fried them. Or they're a master frier. Or both. Let's talk about this $70 meal. We are staying at this hotel and decided to have dinner here a couple nights ago. We got the mamachos with the pork on the side and two orders of the fish tacos. One order with fries one order with salad. First it appeared we inconvenience the lady by asking for fish instead of pork on the nachos and that wasn't an option so we got the pork on the side. We usually only eat fish. We asked for it to go since we figured we wouldn't eat it all and could take it back to our room. When our order was ready we were handed our containers... no thank you...nothing. On the mamachos the nacho cheese sauce was so cold it was still chunky...the chips say they are freshly fried...they tasted stale. The pork had clumps of fat. The tacos had seared ahi that was slimy and the tendons were so gross and chewy. The salad just had some water splashed on it, no dressing. It seemed there was quality ingredients available to make this meal but no pride in what was being prepared. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The staff seemed happy to help the people that were ordering alcoholic drinks. read more

Mamahune's was the perfect tiki-bar to visit on our first night in Kauai. The views of the ocean are stunning, and the decor is fitting for the location. This is a very casual counter/bar service restaurant at the Hilton Garden inn Wailua Bay. The bartender and cook were both super friendly and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the hummus plate, truffle fries, and burger with a tasty pineapple jam. The hummus plate had a ton of tasty accompaniments which we thoroughly enjoyed. It's really fun to be at a tiki bar that is right next to the beach. I thought the drinks were amazing, they were pretty strong and stylish. The decor in the bar area is fabulous, we really enjoyed being out on the lawn because it was a lot of space for the kids to run around and you could watch the ocean. Stopped here to kill some time between finishing the days activities and hopping on a flight home. It is absolutely adorable for a beachside tiki bar at a hotel. You can park in the beach park and walk up the lawn and sit down at the bar to enjoy a drink with a view of the bay. The mai tais were strong and wonderful. The Aunty serving at the bar was so nice and fun to talk with. They have some really good food items available, including fish tacos that we watched them cooking fresh right there in front of us. If I hadn't eaten too much for lunch earlier in the day, I definitely would have tried several things on their menu. This place is usually counter service but for some reason we were served at our table, but poorly. The server kept forgetting we asked for things. Then she brought us our bill without even asking if we wanted another drink, so we felt like we should go. I got the burger and a Pina colada. The burger was OK but for my fries all they had were fast food ketchup packets... I had to use like 15 of them to eat my food. The pina colada was horrible. No pineapple flavor, no rum detected and it seemed like it was just straight coconut flavored syrup. My husband had the poke bowl and liked it but only after going to ask for a side of sauce the server told him would be on it but it wasn't. I think I would have liked the vibe better if we got there when it was already dark outside. They turned on the cool tiki themed lanterns and way better music. This review is mostly to WARN the other patrons of the absolute horrible service received at this establishment! I was meeting friends staying at the Hilton on Monday 6/22. We were heading to the beach and made a quick pit stop at Mamahune's; upon leaving, I slipped on the grass and rolled not one, but both of my ankles and took a pretty hard fall. My friend quickly ran to the bar to ask for some ice and a rag and they simply told her they did not have any rags... she begged them to find something as I could not stand at all and low and behold, they found paper towels to wrap ice in! After sitting on the grass for what seemed to be an eternity, my friend went back to the bar staff and asked if they could call someone from the hotel to help us. She said there is no one at the resort who can help us and to just call 911... OK thanks for nothing. My two friends, who were patrons of the hotel and, who by the way, were there with their one and two year old babies, CARRIED me to my car so my other friend could drive me to Urgent Care. Turned out I had one broken ankle and one sprained ankle. Will NEVER return here and definitely telling everyone what HORRIBLE customer service they have here. Absolutely no aloha or care in the world. I'd say the two service workers seemed to be having a pretty bad day if they couldn't even assist a fellow human. read more

Expectations are never too high when ordering from a bar. Mamahune's is a super chill little restaurant/tiki bar with great vibes, great views, great food, and great people. The server was very attentive but not overbearing. I was pretty hungry and when I got there and asked about the size of the poke bowl. She said it would be good and it was perfect. The mai tai's are a little expensive at $17 but very tasty especially with the addition of macadamia nut flavor. We ate here 2 nights, I had fish tacos and the huli chicken sandwich. My wife had the Niçoise salad with seared ahi tuna which was very good. The only minor complaint is the long wait time for someone to come and take our order. We ordered a kids cheeseburger and a wagyu burger with fries plus the tuna nicoise Salad. There was nowhere to sit that night so we took it to go. The burger meats tasted like frozen patties and not flavorful. The salad was the cheapest ingredients ever... with iceberg lettuce, potatoes and very few quality ingredients like the tomatoes. The tuna itself was ok but also not very flavorful at all. The only good part of the meal were the fries. They were really crispy on the outside. You order your food at the counter and choose whatever seat you Iike, so it's first come first serve. On a non windy day, I can def see the appeal of sitting here for a meal. read more

Later to our understanding we realized it was mostly shortage of staff that could've caused it. Nonetheless, the team of two that was working that night seemed tirelessly juggling and multitasking with exceptional customer service - kudos to them!
