Best value on the island as long as you don't eat there every day. If you eat someplace everyday of course you are going to get bored and want something better. I go here once a week based on what is on the menu posted on their website. I like how they introduce more vegetarian/vegan dishes. Sometimes the fruit is really really good and they try to source locally when they can. Mostly the tomatoes and broccoli. They are known to gave good hot pizza, burgers, and grilled cheese. The ice cream flavors vary but you may get good ones like spumoni, banana, green tea, rocky road in addition to the usual chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and some sort of sorbet. They have cones or bowls and toppings. It's $10.50 for lunch now but that should go up by 25 cents or 50 cents as it does every year. You can get the frequent dining card which gives you a free meal after you get 5 meals. It's a different card for breakfast, lunch, dinner. They do accept all major credit cards so I can get my 5% cash back for the restaurant category. https://uhm.sodexomyway.com/dining-choices/resident/index.html

Since I work on campus here at the University of Hawaii, once in a while I will go down to the Hale Aloha Cafe and eat either breakfast or lunch. It's not too often, but sometimes I go just because it's convenient and it's all you can eat. The prices have gone up since I've last eaten here. Breakfast is $8.75, lunch is $10.50, and dinner is $12.00. Prices will be going up too when the new school year starts up. So be aware. I guess for all you can eat, it's worth it if you are a student or a heavy eater. They have different items on menu daily for breakfast and for lunch. There is a weekly menu located online https://uhm.sodexomyway.com/dining. You can decide whether or not you want to eat a meal there that day. There is an assortment of drinks, cereals, breads for toast, some pastries, and hot items as well for breakfast. For lunch has the same assortment of drinks, breads, a station where they will make to order your sandwich, a pizza station, a burger station, hot items, salad bar, ice cream (when it lasts), soups, and other desserts. The flavor of the food is just okay. Not anything gourmet with tons of flavor. The convenience is worth going once in a while and the price is reasonable for buffet compared to eating out. Since food and drink are expensive now days.

This Cafeteria might be the worst eating establishment I have eaten at. I have been a student at UH for the past 3 and a half years. Every night I am disappointed with the food they offer. They try to masquerade themselves as a quality eatery, but instead they serve food that gives me diarrhea nightly. I have included a picture of their cup to supplement the evidence of disgusting utensils they try to make us use. If you are looking for a quality meal, this is not the place to experience this. If I could have given them 0 stars, I still feel that is an under exaggeration of how atrocious their food and utensils are.

Sadly, it seemed more folks were there for the pastries though. First off, I'm surprised I found such a fabulous cup of coffee in what feels like the epicenter of tourist life on this island. While visiting another island nearly establishment had signage stating they served Kona and/or Hawaiian coffee, but nearly every establishment's coffee was absolutely awful. Seeing the location I fully expected them to phone in the coffee, but it's clear that coffee comes first here, even if many of the guests are trying to get pastries! You'll be shocked by the line, but just know the staff is efficient and it moves fast. They offer a variety of their own locally roasted beans here, with options for batch brew, espresso drinks and even pour overs (impressive considering the volume of customers). The coffees are well described and the baristas have the additional knowledge you may be seeking when you order, and all in all this went as quickly as I could have expected. Truly, the coffee was delightful, and the fact I was drinking a hot drink on an extremely hot day didn't even phase me. I wanted so badly to bring home a bag of each one, but given that everything is more expensive in Hawaii, these were all 4x the price of the specialty coffee I buy on the mainland and I just couldn't make it happen. What will happen is me telling everyone to visit this shop when they're in Hawaii because it is 100% worth it. Won't you consider opening one in Reno NV?

This can't be Kona coffee, and if it was, they don't know how to brew it. Terribly horrible, really expensive coffee. Don't bother.

This place has been my absolute favorite for good drinks and breakfast food…read more I was staying at the Outrigger Hotel that is attached to this cafe and I went here almost every single day. Food: 5/5 I was able to try several of their brunch items including their Ham & Cheese Croissant, their Turkey Pest Sandwich, and their Traditional Waffle. Almost all of them were a hit! I especially liked their Turkey Pesto. It paired beautifully with their salad. Their breakfast waffle was also light and fluffy and their fruit was fresh. Drinks: 5/5 I tried their many lattes, coffees, smoothies. Their açaí smoothie was not my favorite because it had a lot of unblended seeds. I did love their leans & green smoothie, it had so many fruits and greens in it, and it also tasted so good. Service: 5/5 This place had wonderful service. All of their servers were so kind and they explained their menu so well. The food and drinks came out pretty timely and everything was fresh to order. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is attached to the Outrigger Hotel so they share a cafe area with the pool. It was beautiful to be able to enjoy breakfast by the poolside. It was giving summer vibes outside. Inside their cafe was very tropical with plants everywhere. I would definitely come back here for the food, the drinks, the happy hour, the ambiance, and the service!

I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was a really reasonable price for the heart of Waikiki. On top of that, it was both big and satisfying. It's mainly made with eggs, potatoes, bell peppers, and cheese, so if you like eggs, you'll enjoy it. Some of my friends thought it had too many eggs and lacked actual meat of some sort, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The burritos are premade and warmed up after you order, so you can't really make any modifications. You can also order from the restaurant upstairs, but we were told the wait is around 30 minutes. I also tried the strawberry matcha, which was decent but nothing special. It's located on the first floor of a hotel and has plenty of seating, including options for larger groups.

Like, I've ordered coffee and food here before and they've just weiiiiirdly forgotten to make it...multiple times. Today I waited 25 minutes, just vibing with my friend while they finished their food and drink, before realizing I had to ask where MY drink was. They apologized and fixed it immediately, but it's becoming a 'thing.' I'm still going to come here, but I'm honestly looking for a new favorite spot where they don't forget to make my coffee, at a coffee shop. If you go here, bring a book, be prepared to wait, and definitely don't be shy about asking for your drink. It's a test of patience, but the coffee is good when you finally get it!

Plantoem offers a relaxing ambiance upon entrance. Navigate the jungle of plants to access the cafe counter. I requested the Yerba Mate which is only available for in-house. A container with filtered straw was provided alongside a thermal carafe...there was enough hot water for 2.5 servings. The barista was a bit bemused when I ( humorously ) mentioned I swallowed some sediment from the straw...not being used to drinking yerba mate in this traditional way. I felt a little less of a gringo after that beverage. The main dining area is to the left.
