We did Installations for them and they still us over $26k in past due invoices for installs we completed months ago. They owe another subcontractor over $200k. Their license is suspended and has been for months. They legally cannot contract work but still do so unlawfully. The owner Matt Watkins does not live in CA and doesn't have a grip on what he's doing. Good luck with trying to get them fix any warranty work as this falls under the subcontractor. They don't answer calls or emails if you have an issue or anything post install related. We've began a formal complain with the Contractors License Board and have began legal proceedings against Bay Area Turf. Due your due diligence and do not hire this company. You have been warned!

In addition to the pool itself, there was a shed full of pool equipment, including motors, pool filter, and heater. The owner (Raphael) came by, examined the area, then sent me a reasonable quote followed by the contract. BBP quickly obtained the necessary permits and, as promised, two weeks later I was contacted with a removal date of the following week. The work was completed in two days by four workers who were polite, efficient, and skilled. They were very careful with my property and the cleanup was impeccable. Everything was left in much better shape than I expected. From start to finish, every interaction I had with BBP was positive and professional. I have engaged countless businesses and people to work on my properties over the last 40 years and can say, without reservation, that this was the best experience I've had. The guy was so helpful and very clear and transparent which is always appreciated. We had our landscaper put it in vs going with their crew for price purposes. You can purchase from them with or without install although their guarantee doesn't accommodate you (or very limited) without their install services. We legit went to 5-6 different turf spots for samples and this was one of the more expensive options, but it blew the competition outta the water. It's by far the most realistic looking/luxurious turf. Thanks to Yelp for helping us find this gem!

He gave some great advice, and, frankly, he is the main reason we went with Synlawn. Installation was quick and done efficiently. Then it all went south! Mario said that it was great for pets, citing drainage and durability. It is not good if you have a puppy, which he knew we had, as puppies love to chew on things and the turf pulls out quite easily. Too, shortly after installation, we thought we had a ripple in the turf possibly due to installation. I contacted Mario and he said he would come by and take a look. We never heard from him again. To be honest, it turned out to be nothing, but, nonetheless, he never reached out again. After a couple of months was saw some discoloration around the fountain. I contacted Billy Bright, and he said it was due to the water from the fountain. He said to try CLR cleaner, which didn't change anything, and then he said to try GooGone, which also didn't work. He said Synlawn was not going to do anything about it, since it was due to the fountain. My point is, since it seems to be a known issue, why wasn't this mentioned at the time of the sale by our salesperson, Mario, with 17 years experience! The fountain has been in place long before the turf sale took place. Seemingly it is always what the salesperson doesn't tell you that comes back to bite you. Needless to say, that in no way can I recommend Synlawn to anyone. I am giving them one star as there is no zero.

Called the office and Adam came out a couple of days later to inspect our lawn and give us a quote. After talking to a few other local vendors, we decided to go with FENIX and we are really pleased we did. Adam, Kimberley and Erica communicated really well and answered any question we had about the entire process. They provided us with a few turf samples as well as an extensive list of referral addresses we could use to inspect their craftsmanship and the quality of the installed turf product. When the day to start the project arrived, Dylan and the large crew arrived right on time as arranged and immediately got to work. They were very professional and skilled. They were able to complete the entire project in one day and cleaned up the "worksite" nicely. A neighbor had recommended Fenix. About a year ago a representative came to our house to give an estimate. He brought samples and measured the area and was quite thorough in his explanation and recommendations. We decided on one of the products but had to hold off installation because we were having other work done in the backyard that could have damaged a new turf. Finally the yard was done almost a year later and we contacted Fenix. Their prices had gone up only 10 cents a square foot but they honored our original bid. Installation was scheduled a couple of weeks later. A week before the install we received an email with the site prep, warranty, care instructions, and other useful information. They offer a discount if you pay by cash or check. On installation day they arrived close to 8 a.m. and apologized for being late as it was foggy in Sacramento and dangerous driving. The crew immediately got to work, first capping off the irrigation that watered the former grass lawn and then digging out the dirt and roots. They uncovered a couple of drainage pipes that we weren't aware of and cleaned them out and reset them to be operational under the turf. They accidentally cut some irrigation pipes and quickly repaired them. Once the job was finished they cleaned up our backyard, even on the side of the yard they weren't working in. The new artificial turf looks wonderful. We highly recommend Fenix if you are considering artificial turf for your yard.
