Poor customer service I originally posted a one star review based on the fact that they send out advertisements saying they can repair grass seams and other issues, but then refused to do the job saying it was not possible.. After my one star review the owner contacted me and said he would send someone to my house to see what could be done. I greatly appreciated that follow up. However, Afterwards he said the only thing that could be done would be to replace the entire area with new grass. Apparently they cannot really repair seams and also you need the exact same grass to make it work. This of course was not what their mailed advertisements say. Afterwards he asked me to remove the one star review from Yelp saying they had assisted me with a solution. I was told someone would come to my home and give me a formal estimate to replace the grass...no one called and no one showed up ! It seems like all they cared about were two things: getting the one star review from Yelp removed and avoiding to do repairs on a small job. Of course it's their business and that is their right, but I think this type of service is shady. I am late in writing this well-deserved excellent review, as the work was initially performed in November, 2022. Artificial Grass Pros (Ron and Alonso) installed artificial turf for us in the front entry area of our home, and in the back garden. The back yard was a very substantial project, over 5000 sq. ft. The front area about 200-250. They did a great job on both. The project took close to three weeks due in part to the difficulty in getting to the back area and the substantial amount of prep work we requested, including re-routing part of our irrigation system. The prep work was meticulously done and took most of the project time. Alonso and his crew were on the job daily and worked hard to complete it timely and well. After all the prep work, the installation of the artificial turf was done relatively quickly and the final product looked great. Unfortunately, after several months, it became clear that one of the rolls of lawn that had been installed was defective (a manufacturer's defect/not the installation). When brought to Ron's attention, he had Alonso's crew come out and try to fix it, but when it became clear it could not be fixed, Alonso and crew promptly replaced it with new artificial turf, entirely without cost to us. So, I can highly recommend Artificial Grass Pros for their initial installation work and then for the excellent work they performed to correct the unexpected problem. So it has been about 8 months since we got this synthetic lawn installed. Still gorgeous, but one of our main concerns in the beginning was the smell of urine from our 2 dogs urinating on it (we had that issue last time we installed synthetic). 1st Impression assured us it would not be an issue as long as we took care of the lawn as specified in the manual. They insisted that the drainage was incredible. To our dismay, these hot summer months have really brought the urine smell out. We have tried using Simple Green as suggested. No improvement. Then we bought the enzyme neutralizer they suggested. No improvement. We rinse the entire lawn down throughout the week. No improvement. So at this point, we are using more water on the synthetic lawn then we ever did with the real lawn. We have spent a lot of time and money fixing up our backyard, but I don't even want to go out there or invite friends out there because the smell is so unpleasant. I've contacted 1st Impression about this issue, and they were only able to repeat what I already read in the manual. After I said I've already tried all of that, they told me it's very rare, and they would research more. I haven't heard back from them since then (about a week), so I'm hoping this updated Yelp review will add some urgency back into their research. read more

We had close to 1000 sq ft installed in our backyard, the crew was quick and efficient. I was very impressed with the prep work prior to the grass being put down. I felt like it was a thorough installation. There was a slight issue of our fence being damaged during installation (long story that really doesn't matter, essentially they were trying to protect our stamped concrete, so they opted to take out a fence panel for access to our space vs hauling everything (gravel, heavy equipment etc) over our new stamped concrete, however our fence was SO old it just couldn't stand up to being moved, and broke) what DOES matter is that Jason the owner, was on site and made sure our fence was repaired to our liking. I really appreciated that. Jason is a super straight forward guy, no fluff. Another company provided us a lower quote than Artificial Grass Pros, so their salesperson decided to offer us an even better price which we accepted. At the start of the project when the daily manager came on-site the first day, he told us that we'd end up with a fence on which we'd need to implement a retaining board at the very bottom along the whole length (equal to artificial grass length). No option was provided. We were surprised since we just finished installing this fence 2 weeks before, increasing cost there again. Thus, we reached out to the fencing company and they told us that the under digging of the fence posts will sacrifice the structural integrity of the fence - Artificial Grass Pros needs to resolve it. We informed Artificial Grass Pros about that and said that the salesperson needs to come on-site such that we can find a solution to the problem. He did so and we found a good workaround. At that point we also agreed to install a corner at the edge where we could install a small irrigated area. The salesperson discussed this with the daily manager, beyond which point the daily manager refused to continue working with us. The salesperson thus spoke with him again and he was capable to bring the daily manager back on-site to finish his work. The salesperson apparently did not tell him about the irrigated area, so we instructed him ourselves. However, the daily manager did not take care of the water pipe to that area, but the salesperson said that this is not an issue and he could install that momentarily without any problem himself. So all the work was finalized, soil added back but that pipe was missing. We were surprised why that pipe would not get installed before the soil was added back since someone needs to open it up all again, which was apparently ok for the salesperson. The project was finalized. 2 months after the project we are still missing a partial receipt and the salesperson informed us by text that we need to take care of the water pipe to the irrigated area ourselves. In conclusion: the communication with Artificial Grass Pros and their internal communication was not acceptable which led to many issues downstream. Work was promised but not done and receipts are not provided. We want to note that other parts of the project were met: roots were removed (although 1-2 excessive ones due to proximity of trees), water fountain was hauled away and project was started promptly. But overall we're very disappointed about how this project ended and thus cannot recommend them. read more

We hired Artificial Grass Pros to build a putting green in our backyard. Jason Webb (the owner) explained the process, types of grass etc. We chose this company over others because they are a diamond certified company and their pricing was very competitive. We have a small yard. in order to have a decent size putting green (350-400 sq. ft.) we needed a small retaining wall which the Artificial Grass Pros team also built. The crew of three men did a great job, cleaning up each day and being respectful of our property while moving large amounts of material (soil & crushed granite). Jason stopped by on the last day of the project ensuring all the work was done properly and to our satisfaction. We also wanted to create a small railing at the back of the green where the retaining wall ended. Jason found a reasonably priced carpenter to build the railing. That was above and beyond! Jason also provided the little flagsticks for each hole - nice touch! We had Artificial Grass Pros replace our back lawn about 10 days ago. They did a fantastic job, and we are extremely happy with our new outdoor space! We knew we needed to do something with this lawn, because we just couldn't get it to grow, for years now. Part of the lawn was constantly shaded, while part of it gets lots of sun (including some days above 100F, here in Walnut Creek). At this point, it was rock-hard, we had weeds and mosses growing, etc. We finally gave up! I chose AGP first because of their excellent turf products. The owner, Jason, came over in his mobile showroom and walked me through all of his products. I ended up selecting their "Summer Gold 2-inch", which consists of 2-inch long grass blades. Combined with the few inches of loose gravel (foundation) they installed beneath the turf, it gives the turf a soft feel without feeling spongy. (In other words, it feels real!) This turf also contains some yellow grass blades randomly mixed in among the green blades, to give the turf a more textured and authentic look. I opted for the "natural edge", where they gently slope the edges of the turf into the surrounding landscape (rather than installing hard plastic borders). I highly recommend this. Our edges look amazing and very natural! I also chose AGP because I visited some of their installations in our area, including some from more than 10 years ago. They all looked amazing, and frankly, stood out as the nicest looking lawns in their respective neighborhoods. Some of them: I hadn't even noticed they were artificial until I got up close! I was concerned about the turf potentially being damaged by burrowing animals. (Walnut Creek people might remember being overrun by voles in 2017.) I paid a little extra to include a "gopher guard" - a metal fencing that AGP installed underneath the gravel, to prevent animals from burrowing up from underground. Finally, we had one minor issue with my installation, and AGP's customer service was fantastic. They were very responsive, easy to work with, and intent on doing A+ work. They remedied the issue in no time. In sum, we went from an unusable space to a lawn that my kids can't get enough of. We went from constantly fighting with our lawn to not even having to think about it anymore. And we're going to save a lot of water to boot. We're very satisfied! read more

This review is long over due. A few months ago, I had artificial grass installed in my backyard. About 1000 sq ft. 700 sq ft was installed by another artificial grass company. Decent work but ended up in a bit of bait and switch. Corners were cut to keep the price down. Overall, not a good feeling. Later I decided to get the rest of the backyard (300 sq ft) done too. Since they had already wrapped up, The company that I had hired for the previous job quoted a price that was 40% higher than what they had charged me before. I felt that that was just unfair. That is when I spoke to Artificial Grass Pros (Jason Webb) and he not only took care of the remaining work at a very nominal cost but actually got some of the work done by the other company "fixed" at no cost! Jason came to my place several times to check for any kind of reflection from the windows into the grass (which can potentially burn the grass). He identified two spots that could pose a problem and ordered screens for those two windows. We decided to get a synthetic lawn because our existing lawn had difficult time growing in our yard due to the amount of shade in our yard. We called up few companies for estimates. After getting estimates from two other companies (Creative Landscape and Heavenly Greens), Jason (1st impression owner) came to our place. After putting together a proposal, the cost of doing the job was very fair. He did not out bid the two other competitors but we went with him anyway. Please keep in mind that "you get what you pay for!" After I shared the two other bids, Jason brought the cost down to a point to where he was very honest about not being able to compete. He even suggested that I go with Heavenly (they were little cheaper) if I didn't choose him (what a honest recommendation). Then, I asked him to break down the costs and he didn't hide any information and was honest about his profit margin. Again, he had a business to run and there must be some money to be made so that his business could survive and thrive. The minute we signed the contract, work began in few days. His crew came and was very neat in their work. They didn't rush but took time in making sure that everything is put together right. The lawn itself was beautifully installed along with a pathway through the gate to the side of the street. On the next morning after the completion of the job, I found Jason inspecting a leak from one of the sprinkler pipes that broke during the installation. Jason took time to come back on a Saturday to fix the pipe himself and made sure that the pathway is assembled correctly. Throughout the process, Jason was prompt in his responses via his mobile phone using text messages to me. He showed up to check on the process 2 or 3 times during the process daily. Jason is very easy to work with and he even bothered to learn some sign language to communicate with us!
