We recently had Artificial Turf by FENIX replace our grass lawn with artificial turf. Our 300 sq ft front lawn was decimated by a grub infestation and a lawn disease in fall 2025 prompting our action. Called the office and Adam came out a couple of days later to inspect our lawn and give us a quote. After talking to a few other local vendors, we decided to go with FENIX and we are really pleased we did. Adam, Kimberley and Erica communicated really well and answered any question we had about the entire process. They provided us with a few turf samples as well as an extensive list of referral addresses we could use to inspect their craftsmanship and the quality of the installed turf product. We had a small lawn area in our backyard that would not grow grass. One part got very little sun and the other got too much. We decided to install artificial turf. A neighbor had recommended Fenix. About a year ago a representative came to our house to give an estimate. He brought samples and measured the area and was quite thorough in his explanation and recommendations. We decided on one of the products but had to hold off installation because we were having other work done in the backyard that could have damaged a new turf. Finally the yard was done almost a year later and we contacted Fenix. Their prices had gone up only 10 cents a square foot but they honored our original bid. Installation was scheduled a couple of weeks later. A week before the install we received an email with the site prep, warranty, care instructions, and other useful information. They offer a discount if you pay by cash or check. On installation day they arrived close to 8 a.m. and apologized for being late as it was foggy in Sacramento and dangerous driving. The crew immediately got to work, first capping off the irrigation that watered the former grass lawn and then digging out the dirt and roots. They uncovered a couple of drainage pipes that we weren't aware of and cleaned them out and reset them to be operational under the turf. They accidentally cut some irrigation pipes and quickly repaired them. Once the job was finished they cleaned up our backyard, even on the side of the yard they weren't working in. I called these guys last min while in town to help my mom. The owner went out of his way to come give me an estimate before I had to leave. I had already done a lot of research and got 2 other estimates so I felt like I would know if they were just trying to upsell me. What I found was that he was totally honest and convinced me to pay less and also offered to help remove a tree. The other companies either said to leave the dying tree or have a pro company do it before they start. I didn't want the hassle and he included removing it and another small bush for only $300 with the same crew and they would bring the machines in to do that. Then I really need it to be done on a specific day when I was back to help my mom because she was uncomfortable with being there and not knowing what was going on. Fenix did everything they could to push aside a major client in order to make it work for little old us. The explanation of the type of grass shape was explained very well. The other places wanted to charge me for the waste. Fenix didn't and they even let me keep the extras because the shape of my yard made it susceptible to waste. Was able to use the extra waste in a small enclosed patio and it looks like a bonus. These guys almost got it done in 1 day! The only reason they didn't was cuz a couple guys got sick so they were short handed and also because the rock company screwed up and arrived 2 hours late. But still, they were almost done and came back the next morning and finished in about 1 hour before I had to leave. We showed our neighbors and they love it. Best decision we made in our yard!! This review is bit overdue, as of this month our putting green was installed 1 year ago and we could not love it more! It is used multiple times a day and we have not had single issue with anything. Got 3 quotes, theirs came lower even though they quoted me about 12 feet more of turf than the other 2 companies. I brought that up to whoever picked up the phone and she said they didn't revised their quotes regardless of other companies measurements; 'it is what it is'. I accepted, not like I had an option. Installer showed up, did the work, and left. And left the leftover turf, which was sizeable, just folded up in my yard. About 10 days after, I noticed that along the block retaining wall there were gaps where the block sit together. These triangular gaps were initially covered with turf, but towards the end of the wall they just cut a straight line. I emailed them with pictures as to ask why the discrepancy on the work, but got no response after 2 weeks. I called and asked the same person to look at the email, as it explained better what I was trying to tell her. She said she would and would get back to me. Surprise, she did not. Instead the foreman call and said he saw the email but wasn't sure why it had been done this way. He thought maybe there was some concrete underneath that prevent them from getting that area done. Factchecked: There is no concrete underneath. He said he would talk to his crew, to save his number and call him directly, not the office, and he'd have an answer. I haven't called because it is in their best interest to follow up with the client. Now I am not only dissatisfied for how shoddy it looks, but also at the crap costumer service. And here I am writing my review. it is not 5 stars as they suggest on their propaganda, but hey- I am still expecting the gift card they bribe you with to do so. Ok, on to Yelp. ************************************************************** Reply to owner: Yes, you don't have to match competitor's price or measurements, but whatever you measure you ought to install. You are so adamant about price and measurements but your installers failed at doing precisely that. What you foreman explain on the phone, AFTER the fact, was that he wasn't sure and that he had to talk to the workers and he'd let me know. After that he never called. I don't think you understand what is going on on the work site. I went on and pulled your ill-installed turf to show that even if there is a block underneath as you try to use as a justification, you can STILL cut and tuck turf in that area, without nails- I checked. Just look at the picture I posted. The simply failed at doing their job and you are just trying to justify them without knowing what happened. Second, The product is amazing, we went for 1.75 inch Tiger Turf for our nearly 1,200 sf backyard. It feels amazing to walk on, sit and lay on. Easy to clean and looks absolutely amazing. Our previous lawn was sod that was only 4 years old, got a disease that was hard to fix, took too much water to keep green and the dogs just tracked mud everywhere once it rained. With the new turf the kids, dogs, visitors all go out to it to play or sit and relax. I think we have used this lawn more in the last 2 months than we have in the last 4 years. They came out for an estimate and theirs was one of the lowest bids. The estimate was for front and side yard artificial turf. The estimator Adam, advised me that it was not worth the money to do the side yard. I requested that the side yard be cleaned and rocks be put in there. They verbally agreed. My other quotes also told me that they would put a weed barrier and also patch up any turf burn due to heat reflection from the window one time. I called them up and requested whether they can accommodate the above two requests. They verbally said yes. I asked them multiple times to put the side yard clean up, weed barrier and turf patching up due to burn in the contract. They never put it in the contract. They were verbally agreeing which doesn't help in any way. When I DM'ed them on Yelp about this, I was told Yelp is not their communication method after estimation. I would be careful with this business. They really need to work on their contract process. How can you trust a business when they are not ready to include project details in contract? read more

He came out several times for measurements as I kept changing things (sorry Jim!). But he was super cool about it and easy to talk with. No sales pressure, which I appreciate.
