We ordered everything on the menu as far as the sides catfish was flavored perfectly. The batter was incredible. The oil that was used was fresh and everything was clean, clean tasting. We ordered to jumbo shrimp with the macaroni and hush puppies. We also got the potato salad and the greens. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Our next trip, which will be soon we're gonna try the chicken, the cornbread and all the other things on the menu that we missed. we love supporting you and you guys are a wonderful couple. We wish you all the success in the world and we got your back. Congratulations on your venture. It speaks for itself.

We came in on a Saturday afternoon about a month ago after receiving news that a great grandma in…read moreour family had passed away. We were having an emotional day and just wanted a good meal. Earlier the woman, who seemed like she wasn't having that great of a day either, helping us commented about having to keep walking things over to our table. When we finished eating, all the tables were full and I had just watched a group of four walk in and leave, so I genuinely thought I was helping by bringing our dishes to the counter and freeing up the table. She told me to leave them at the table, I apologized, and did exactly that. What bothered me was that while I was waiting to pay, she looked at me, pointed at the counter and said, "No... SUCIO dishes on counter," with a smirk. I had already understood her perfectly and responded in English. English is my first language and Spanish is my second. As a Mexican woman, the way she emphasized "sucio" felt incredibly condescending and racially insensitive. That being said, the food was SO flavorful, and the cook even came out to check on us, which I really appreciated. You never know what someone is going through and a little kindness and basic respect go a long way. Sadly, I wouldn't come back to dine in after this interaction, but I would still order the food for delivery.

I've been coming to Pita Kitchen in Sherman Oaks for more than 20 years, and the quality has…read moreremained consistently excellent the entire time. If you're looking for a place that never disappoints, this is it. My go-to order is the filet steak with salads. The key is to eat it fresh, right off the grill, when it's at its absolute best. Parking and traffic in the area can be a bit of a challenge, but there is plenty of metered parking around the surrounding blocks, so it's manageable. What impresses me most is that after all these years, it's still the same ownership, the same people, and the same great food. Many of the newer shawarma places tend to overdo the seasoning and MSG, which I'm very sensitive to. Pita Kitchen keeps it simple--the meat tastes fresh, clean, and properly seasoned without any of the side effects. Twenty years later, they're still doing it right. Highly recommended.

Back to back issues with this restaurant…read more I found a hair last week in my food. I didn't even want a new plate. Today I went to the restaurant and I saw a gentleman in the kitchen with a wet mop, touching the wet mop, then touching my food right after. I will never go back to Pita Kitchen and do not recommend. This place is extremely unsanitary and unprofessional. They need to rewrite or follow through on their SOPs, standard operation procedures.

They still have some amazingly visually tantalizing social media food post, so it made me drive over to give the menu and my culinary memories an update. It's definitely a menu that I'm interested in across the spectrum and could probably eat here a few times a month if I lived closer, but my waistline is happy that I don't! You should find something for nearly every dietary request or gluttony desires. The place is always well kept, nice neighborhood ambience, great staff, and excellent food.

I ordered the double cheeseburger, and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was packed with flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the buns were soft, fluffy, and airy. The patties weren't smash burgers and were on the thinner side, but they were still juicy and satisfying. My husband ordered the BBQ burger, and he really enjoyed his as well. For our side, we shared the loaded tots. They were crispy, well-seasoned, and a great addition to the meal. Service was good overall. The cashier seemed a little serious at first and didn't really greet us, but when we asked to swap out a drink, she was very accommodating and didn't charge us extra. There was a small misunderstanding when I asked about side options, but she quickly explained that another table had the menu and went to grab one for us. She was friendly and helpful throughout the rest of the interaction. The restaurant was clean, which I always appreciate. The atmosphere could use a little improvement, though. It felt a bit stuffy inside, two of the three menu screens weren't working, and it was very quiet with no music playing, which made the dining room feel a little empty. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight and I'd come back for the burgers and loaded tots.

Ventured into Hi Ho at the height of Friday dinner time, when the whole Sportsmen's Lodge shopping…read more& dining nook was packed with people, including at least 75 kids under the age of 6. Yowza! Luckily, Hi Ho wasn't quite as busy as the pizza and ice cream shops, but there were still quite a few folks, and the staff did manage to tend to everyone nicely. If you haven't been, Hi Ho is a simple, fast food burger joint in terms of decor, but the menu (from the same people who own Matu) is a small, curated selection of very high quality options: mostly Wagyu burgers in a few different configurations, and chicken tenders + some very good, hand cut fries. This time I opted for the Pastrami Heat, a double cheeseburger fortified with spicy grilled onions and a not-too-large topper of Wagyu pastrami. I don't usually go for such an elaborate burger, but I just had a hankering. And while I won't say the burger was small, it was not as ridiculously enormous as you might get other places. The double patties were juicy and flavorful, nicely seasoned and coated in properly melted American cheese. The spicy grilled onions did pack a nice punch, but there weren't a lot of them, so their effect was minimal (definitely could use more of those). House-made pickles were pleasingly artisan, with a layered, briny flavor far more enjoyable than the commercial dill chips usually deployed. Finally, the Wagyu pastrami was really quite good. Marbled and juicy without be too fatty or too rich, thinly shaved and portioned just large enough to make its presence known without becoming unwelcome halfway through. Though decadent for sure, this was an enjoyable treat that was only about 50% guilt-inducing. Fries were fresh, hot, crispy and well done, cooked in beef tallow. Also a treat. Prices are in line with what you're paying at other fast casual burger places like Five Guys or Burger Lounge, but the quality here is definitely a step above, so you could almost say it's a deal. Of course, if you also stop into neighboring Erewhon for a smoothie, your budget will be blown.
