We've been meaning to post a review for this location of Halal Munchies - finally as we grabbed our lunch today - was reminded to finally do it. We are big believers that people need to take the time to recognize when things are right; especially in these times where people are too busy to care about the next guy. This Northern Blvd location has been here for several years, having taken over another Halal spot. We've tried HM at another location and were not impressed but this location is definitely different. First of all, the guys running this shop and all of the staff, are always efficient, patient and professional. They're always busying themselves cooking or organizing or cleaning up and are always pleasant and courteous. Second, the open-kitchen is very well taken care of and clean! This is actually a rare and pleasant surprise because lots of fast-foodish joints have messy kitchens. You can clearly see everything laid out and how clean it is. When it comes to food, that is a huge point for us. And, their food - is good. Priced for value, good portions and they make your order fresh, even when ordering ahead on an app - they put together the order when you walk in so that it's all hot and good and not just sitting around getting cold. We love their hot sandwiches like Philly Cheesesteak and of course, their Halal meats over rice like the Mixed Plate. They have side options like hummus, salad, french fries and their french fries are delish! If you're looking for straight down dirty excellent meat over rice like the carts in the city - sure, this may not be it. But, all in all, with its location, good prices, good service, good food - it is definitely a solid pick.

Is the menu that difficult? I didn't even order online, I walked in and literally said Lamb Over Rice no fries. Get home and get ready to eat. Open my dish, it has fries and chicken over rice. Hello? Don't get me wrong, I am not allergic to chicken, but Hello? I paid for my food, and it wasn't even busy. I called and they asked me to come back and they will correct it. Nah, I ain't going back there again. One more local customer not to worry about.

Food was great I found a deal on UberEats and they didn't short on the food. Quick service and pick up on arrival. Got the combo over rice with fries and salad x 2. Always a great choice when you have a halal craving.

We ordered from Halal Munchies due to a UberEATS deal with their Chicken Over Rice and it came with a side of seasoned fries and salad (shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber). It was good, but I wouldn't say it is significantly better than other food carts that I've tried from considering it is a little more expensive. We also asked for sauce on the side because we wanted to adjust the amount of hot sauce, but it was put on top. I think I would only order again during promotions.

Visited a friend and we ordered food from here. I had high expectations since I've heard good things. Best I can say is that it is good halal food. I've had better and I've had a lot worst. Definitely one of the best I've had. I ordered chicken and lamb over rice with salad and fries. The fries were great, made to perfection and well seasoned. Nice and crispy! As for the rest of the meal, it was delicious. They packed a lot of food in the container. I had enough for leftovers. I felt like I got good value out of my food. My only complaint is the container the food came with. The bottom should've been flat.

Chopped cheese sandwich was good, but the wings and chicken gyro was okay. Need to find another halal spot for my gyro/halal food.

I had a great experience here. Quality was fantastic. Decently priced too. I actually switched from my old halal spot to this one. Plus they're open late for late night eats! Overall, positive experience. Would recommend.

Please do not be fooled, this place use to be call Halal Hot Spot has now been bought over. I knew I should have stuck to my instincts and walked out once I went in and things were changed around. You walk in and 3 people are just sitting around, the grill seemed to have been off for some time. What the heck I gave it a go and stayed and ordered. First the staff is very unfriendly, being new and trying to win customers to stay and come back, this was by far the opposite. I went in around prime time normally which was 6pm, old spot had people inside and ordering. This place was empty. I tried to start a little small talk and said, oh you guys changed the name and the lady looked at me and turned her head and never answered. Also all three seemed very angry looking at me for even coming in like I slapped their mother or something. So I thought I gave it another try to talk and asked "when did you guys take over"? She now responded and said I don't know what you are talking about we are new and been here for two months. Anyhow, now for the food. I ordered just the basic Chicken and rice. First off the guy went to scoop some rice out of the rice cooker and then scoop some chicken that I couldn't see from the side. Who knows how long that chicken has been sitting out. So I bring it home to eat and of course the first bite I took there was two chicken bones. As for the taste, the chicken was very dry and without much flavor. The rice was ok, but just some long grain rice. The white sauce must have been mixed with lots of water as it pretty much had no flavor and tasted like water. Sadly as much as I hate to waste food, I had to throw 3/4's of it away. You can save for sure I will not be coming back to try again since if they say they been there for two months and still can not get it right, it's only going downhill. Really missing Halal Hot Spot!

The Fresh Meadows location is right by Kohl's with ample parking. The standout hospitality began the moment I walked in. An employee directed me to the counter and helped me place my order, explaining the menu items. Another friendly employee ( I think his name was Alex) noticed my large order and personally helped carry four trays of food to the table, setting the tone for a genuinely great visit. From the first bite, it's clear this is far from ordinary fast-casual fare--the chicken is juicy beneath a perfectly crisp, non-greasy coating, and the spice levels are seriously dialed in, whether you opt for a manageable Mild or decide to take on a real heat challenge. I love that the chicken rests on the white bread which absorbs all the delicious juices. The menu is thoughtfully simple, focusing on sliders, tenders, and satisfying sides, all served fresh and hot. All delicious. The kale coleslaw is a triumph. So are the pickles. I despise pickles, yet ill eat all the pickles at Dave's. They're so good! And don't even think about skipping the Oreo milkshake, thick, refreshing, and loaded with real cookie chunks, it's the ideal finale, especially if you've embraced the spice. For anyone in Queens craving authentic, high quality Nashville style fried chicken, this spot is absolutely worth a special trip. Highly recommended, and to top it all, IT'S HALAL!!! WHAT?!?! AN ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER. PS. In an environment where bigotry is running rampant, this Muslim woman thanks you for making her feel a little more included.

I'm glad there is now in a location in Queens with a huge parking lot. The prices are not very cheap but they do give good quality chicken. The chicken is very moist and flavorful and the fries are seasoned nicely. I will be returning.

I went during Ramadan with my partner to break my fast, and they were so accommodating. Tip: call them to make a quick reservation beforehand. Next, onto the food. We ordered the dumplings, lamb stew with naan, and their special noodles. Everything was absolutely mind blowing. The lamb was perfectly seasoned and fell right off the bone. The bread was soaked in flavor. The noodles are perfect for a cold night. The noodles are mixed in house and fresh, and you can definitely taste the difference in fresh noodles and store brought. Their service was impeccable. Our host was gracious and greeted us in Arabic as soon as we walked in. He took our order fairly quickly, and the food did not take that long to come out. Whenever he spoke, he had his hand over his heart and was so friendly. I cannot speak anything but praise about this place. It's amazing and I plan to go there soon again with my whole family. Everything was delicious and this restaurant could easily be one of the top 10 restaurants I've ever been to in my life.

What a way to end the week…read more Since moving to Brooklyn, I have had my fair share of Lagman, a popular dish in Uyghur cuisine. Cafe Kashkar in Brighton Beach, Nargis Cafe in Sheepshead Bay, this is the dish that keeps on giving. Until eating here. I will just keep this one all to myself. Everything here is right, on top of right, on top of right, on top of right. Friendly, fast, and efficient service. A pretty ambiance that does not hit you over the head with a walking stick, and some of the best Lagman I have eaten this side of the East River. These folks know what they are doing. To come here and not order some naan is a huge insult, so I did that. Even that is done properly. The naan is light and full of flavor. It needs no oil or anything to spruce it up. Enjoy it for what it is. The Lagman hits all the right notes, checking every box that Lagman needs to have. Ample and flavorful meat? Check. Fresh hand pulled noodles that are also ample? Check. Crispy, sautéed vegetables? Check. About a quarter of the way through my meal, one of the owners came up to me and offered me chili oil to put in the dish. I obliged as I learned from Cafe Kashkar the importance of adding flavor to this dish. It really does elevate everything on the plate and brings all those flavors that are already on the plate, forward. Everything is rather affordable as well. Before the New York Times finds out about this little hole in the wall and blows this restaurant's cover, I will close this review by simply stating this restaurant is a winner, without all the aforementioned accolades.

I was brought here by my friend (and her family) as she recommended the place, and she came pretty often. I would say that my friend sometimes has interesting taste, but so far her recommendations have been really solid. Since my friend brought me here, I just took whatever she recommended, as she took command of all ordering. This was great for me, since I opened the menu and was like... wow, I don't even know what is good. So I just sat back and *attempted* to listen to what was going on. We ended up getting hot tea with lemon, beef skirt kebab, lamb kebab, samsa, cheburek with meat, and a few other things I'm not quite sure about. She just ordered, and honestly, I just ate everything she threw at me. The samsas were delicious! They were super flaky, and the meat was well seasoned and super juicy. The samsa were also quite hefty, they fill you up if you eat too many. It reminded me of the homemade ones my friend used to give me. Next up, the cheburek with meat. This was a first for me, and my friend said it was a must get. She was completely right... we ended up getting a 2nd order of this. It was super light, compared to everything else we ordered, as it is only filled with a bit of meat. The dough is fried to perfection, it was a bit crispy, soft, and didn't feel oily. It came with what I assume is a tomato sauce, which pairs well with it. We also got a few of the beef and lamb kebabs, and they were also delicious. The beef tasted better than the lamb, but my friend says that is just depends on the day. So I guess it depends on who is cooking that day? But the beef was super juicy, and it was well seasoned. The lamb was also good, but it just wasn't as yummy as the beef skirt. Overall, I really like everything here and I look forward to my next trip back to NY.

Incredible Uyghur food not just for Flushing standards but for the entire city as a whole…read more Everything here is halal so that's a nice plus. Went with a group on a Thursday evening, and the place is fairly small with about 10 or so tables. There was only one server but since there was only one other occupied table, this wasn't an issue. Service was prompt and friendly and our server was willing to explain things to some in our group who weren't very familiar with Uyghur cuisine. The space also had nice vibes, clean with understated and tasteful decor on the walls. We had to get the special laghman because this spot is known for that, and you get the option of either lamb or beef. We ordered both varieties and they were both delicious. The meat was tender and they're loaded with fresh vegetables, with the mushrooms being a highlight. The sauce in particular was incredibly rich and savory and I was tempted to get an additional order of noodles on the side just to enjoy the sauce some more. It was that good. Others in our group ordered the stir fried noodles which I got to try; it wasn't saucy like the laghman but it was equally delicious. We also ordered the lamb dumplings, which was probably the weakest dish of the night. They weren't bad, and for $15 you get a large plate of them, meant to be shared or enjoyed as an entree. It's just that for the area you can get better dumplings for a cheaper price. I probably wouldn't order these again when I return, but the chili oil and black vinegar elevated them a bit. But the real highlight of the night had to be the lamb kebabs, spelled kawap here, served on skewers. They are $5 a pop, so they're not exactly cheap but they are worth every penny. Grilled and seasoned to perfection with tender meat, I genuinely think these are the best lamb kebabs I've had in the city, and I've had a lot from dining at many Middle Eastern restaurants. These blow them all away. If you visit, make sure to get one or two skewers for yourself along with your entree. Finally we had some milk tea, served in a bowl and not a cup like you might expect. It was rich, decadent, a little salty, and a great way to end a great meal. All in all, loved my experience here and I'm eager to go back.
