With almost 30 years selling real estate in the Downey/Norwalk/Long Beach area I have known and utilized Hala's service for about 25 years for both personal and business jobs. Two days ago they removed 4 large cypress trees (they had to be 40 feet tall) from a client's property. They said they would arrive between 7-8 am; my client took her dog out at 6:15 am and they were sitting in their trucks at the corner. At 7:05 am they were on it and by 2:00 pm finishing the last bit of cleanup. (Picture attached halfway done) I highly recommend Hala and his team. Oh...and the price was very fair!! I have a happy client :) read more

We have used Hala Tree service many times in the past. They have been prompt and given us a great price. I called recently about an estimate, and no one called me back -- okay. I heard back from them about three days later and it took a week to get an estimate -- okay. I'm still in the game here. I was told they would call me back with an estimate. I called them -- okay. Got my estimate and arranged for them to trim the tree. They were supposed to come on a Saturday morning at 8:00 am. I moved all the plants can cancelled my regular gardener to give them good access. I waited until around 1:00 pm to hear from them or have them show up. They never showed for the appointment. They never called. I consider this unacceptable. I sent them a text and never heard anything back. So, if the Hala owner reads this review, maybe they can give me an explanation. I have now waited several weeks for no service. Will not hire again. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY !! THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR CONTRACT!! I called for service (removal of bamboo), they came out, gave me an estimate, returned to do the work and promised to return and check on results. HOWEVER, they NEVER returned, even after several phone calls and messages. read more

Don't trust Rodney for doing any Tree Cutting or anything! He promised to build a patio for me 2 years ago took the money and to this day didn't complete the job. I had to hire someone else to complete. DON'T PAY HIM UNTIL THE JOBS DONE. Even after getting the Patio done by a someone else I called Rodney many times to give him the chance to work off the $1,600. He actually continued to tell me he would cut my trees in lieu of paying me the money that he never seems to have. He continued with his empty promises of coming over but would reschedule or just not show up. His crew are day workers so he needs money daily. He robs Peter to Pay Paul. And this was after 15+ years of doing business with him! Also, don't think he knows how to do landscaping I got screwed on that one too! Good thing I got the tree cut before I got F..... again! I suggest you Call Discount Tree Service! They are in Long Beach but this Company cuts Trees and Landscapes all over! They have their own equipment ............the chopper is so cool they bring it all to you and do a GREAT JOB. They don't drive to the dump like Rodney does! They are Masters at their trade/craft and state of the art equipment! 562.842.8635 read more

I called Hala to get an estimate. He came on time and was very professional and friendly. His quote was slightly higher than the other company, but when I asked what his availability was he was able to come the next day. I asked Hala to make sure my pool was clean after the service and he left it the way he found it. I will definitely be using this company again soon! read more

I am very impressed with the Hala Tree Service group of workers that were just here this week to top and thin our huge tree. Price was reasonable. They arrived early and worked until about 5 PM. Clean up was great and will definitely use them again. read more

This crew is great. Mr Hala came out and gave me a clear estimate right away and then removed a 35-40 foot elm tree 2 days later in only 3 hours. They were considerate and fast and went above and beyond with meticulous clean up, thoroughly grinding all visible roots and even delicately saving 2 baby squirrels and their nest. They set the nest aside and mama squirrel came after and picked them up! Heroes read more

Called for to schedule a time to meet at the project to get an estimate and scheduled for Saturday morning. Never showed up or called.

Hala's tree service is the best! We called for an estimate and they were here within an hour. They gave us a reasonable price for trimming 15 trees on our property. They showed up the next day on time, trimmed the trees quickly, cleaned up, and were done within 3 hours. Their work was exceptional and better than we expected! They were professional and friendly. If you are looking for a quality tree trimming service, we highly recommend Hala's Tree Service. read more

I don't know why there aren't more reviews -- Hala is the BEST. We used him several times to get rid of trees and do the big projects we couldn't handle. He was always on time and pricing was fair. Highly recommend. read more

Let's just say we wouldn't want any other tree trimmers on our property! Mr. Hala & his crew are amazing & very hard working! What's even better is they're insured & so very polite. read more

After getting many outrageous quotes to remove my giant Christmas tree, I finally did some research and discovered Hala's Tree Service. Their first quote was still a bit high, but I was able to negotiate with them to a price I could afford. They were able to start the next day and did an amazing job considering the amount of work there was. They removed the Christmas tree and also trimmed my sycamore and palm tree which had not been trimmed in many years. The clean-up work they did was nearly spotless and the results were so impressive I actually tipped them above the agreed price because I felt no-one could have done a better job than they did. read more

Back in March 2015 Mr. Hala's relative left me a message portraying to be a very satisfied customer. That further proves my point and further shows everyone that reads this review, of Hala's Tree Service innability to have truly satisfied clients. Their work was outright a ripoff to both myself and the clients I referred to him. Anyone using them I caution buyer beware. Roots not dug up. This is why they quote cheaper prices. Shame on them. Shame on the relative sending me a message as to how great their customer satisfaction level was. Point proved. read more

Very fast estimate , fair reasonable price to remove 2 trees, roots and stumps. Hard workers ! Definitely recommend

You cannot beat Hala Tree service. Hala, first off, came for the estimate the same day (maybe I got lucky). The estimate was more than reasonable. We scheduled for the following morning. A team of 3 with proper ladders, tools, and a truck came early, were professional, and did a wonderful job. The site was left clean after. ANYONE in Downey, Norwalk or surrounding areas would be silly to not get your trees removed or trimmed by Hala. Thank you much! Best tree service I have had to date. read more

Very prompt response time with excellent service and prices. Sola was very accommodating!

Using Hala is supporting local, family run business which I highly recommend. We've used them for years and love them. One suggestion is make sure you ask them to dig out roots if you desire it when you've hired them for land clearing. Their default seems to be to just hack off at the roots which is great for erosion prevention, but not so good if you are looking for permanent removal of plants. I don't have one complaint; they are kind, courteous, efficient, and clean. Totally recommend. read more

Hala came out gave me a fair price. Arrived 30 minutes prior to set up and started on time and completed the job fast and efficient. They cleaned up outstanding and even swept the street in front of my house. Also gave me some extra wood for my personal use. They grinded the stump down and leveled the ground nicely. Very pleasant and kind family of workers from the Father to the Uncle and Son's. I am extremely pleased and would definitely recommend them to my friends and family and if I ever need tree service? The Family Hala is who I will always call first. read more

Very happy with Hala Tree Care , was stood up by another company who didn't even have the courtesy to call me to cancel or to tell me they were going to be late. In the hour I was sitting there waiting I did my homework called and spoke with Rodney the owner he came , quoted me and they started the job within a couple of hours. Very reasonable price , professional .... Totally going to recommend and use them again. read more

Hala's tree service removed four palm trees from my front yard today. They were prompt, removed the trees and worked very carefully as if they were working in their own yard. After the trees were gone, they cleaned up the driveway and street. They worked quickly and efficiently, and the price was very reasonable. It was great to have the work done by such professionals. I would highly recommend them! read more

Hala Tree Service is THE BEST!!!! I called Rodney, he came out the same day, provided me with an estimate. He was professional and priced extremely well. The day of the job was seamless. I thought "something has to go wrong, this has been too easy." NOTHING WENT WRONG! The tree came out perfect and my backyard had ZERO debris left over.... it was as though he simply waved a magic wand and viola! I recommend Hala Tree Services and would use him again and again! read more

I have been using Hala to trim my Australian Willow and my neighbor's trees (that hang over my block wall) for the past dozen years or so. The service has always been on time, efficient, and reasonably priced. Am about to give them another call for our bi-annual tree overhaul. read more

Do not use this service. They will try to skimp their way out of the job the second they get their cash. They were supposed to pickup about 200 lbs worth of wood after I decided to pay them because they promised that they would clean it all up the next day and that he had to pay their workers. They ended up not showing up and they ignored all my calls and requests to come and clean up the mess they promised to clean. There are many other services out there that do a better job and actually care about customer service. Do yourself a favor and ignore these guys read more
