So I found this little market place serving Mediterranean food. Place reminded me of little Asian market. Disorganized and cluttered. I was very skeptical about this place, but I read yelp review and figure what can it go wrong.... Right? Well, waited 40 mins to get my food, because they forgot my order. Chicken was burnt. I mean it was so black, I thought I was eating a charcoal. I made small compliant to them, they offered to give me $3 off the tab.. I would of been more pleased if they remade my food, but they were closing. So $3 off the tab was the only option they given me.. Salad was decent. Fresh and great dressing. Hummus was decent. Little salty and sour compared to others. Rice was okay, nothing special. Food was about average to me. I had a better experience eating at "Greek wrap" on bell road. I don't think I will be returning to this place after the experience I've encountered. It is not worth of waiting 15 mins for seating, getting over cooked food, and not getting my order for 40 mins. Of all the places I've eaten, this is the place I always get a craving for. I would eat here everyday if I didn't live so far away. Over the years I have probably tried almost everything. Wait. Let me rephrase that. I always get the same thing every time. The chicken schwarma platter. Yeah, it is the best. Once they were sold out and I couldn't even believe it. I was so sad. I can't remember what I got instead, but I'm sure it was amazing. They have really good pita bread. And really good hummus. It's the best. Oh yeah, the pickles are so delicious. The prices are easily affordable. The portions are huge. The service is slow. Waiter did not check on us at all - I had to grab his attention to get a refill on my drink. Beef schwarma was just average and a bit dry and tough. Salad consisted of mostly chopped lettuce, one cucumber slice and one tomato slice. Nice dressing. Rice was great! Gyro was made with processed meat, like almost everyone these days. Their "grocery" area is very good with nice canned goods and fresh cheeses, olives, etc., and not expensive at all. I loved coming here when I was in college and I love coming here 5 years later. This place is very inexpensive and the food is very authentic, a wonderful portion size and delicious. I don't feel it is the cleanest place, but I have eaten here over 20 times and have never gotten sick. It is a small restaurant inside a small grocery store. Even though it is a small restaurant, I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes. Be careful to not miss it in the plaza as it is very small and it's almost difficult to find in the plaza, but it's there. I love eating two things here, any of the sandwiches (especially the gyro) and the hummus with pita. It is extremely delicious! My friends like getting the full meal dishes, and any of them are very good. If you are a person that likes to all kinds of food or does not have alot of money in the bank and wants to eat well , this place is perfect for you. read more

I came to Arizona with my friends for the weekend to attend some Dodgers spring training activities and we found this little hole in the wall on Yelp. We decided to try it because the pictures of the food looked promising. At first sight of the restaurant, we were surprised because it was a restaurant / grocery store hybrid. We found it interesting but were intrigued. The chicken shawarma plate for $9 was delicious and filling. The chicken had a lot of flavor, the pita bread was warm, and the garlic sauce was strong, just the way I prefer any garlic sauce. The tangy tabouli and moist rice were good complements to the meal as well. Also, our waiter was very friendly and accommodating! You go up to the register at the end of the meal to individually pay for your food which makes it convenient and easy to dutch pay when youre with friends. I love this hidden diamond in the rough. It's been around for over 20 yrs. There's the Tempe Firehouse across the street and a new apartment complex in construction off Apache and Elm. Spices and portions are right on. Definitely the best olives outside of Spain. You can do carnivor, vegetarian, or vegan and gluten free. The staff have been there as long as I can remember, some I'd say at least over 10 years. The decor is simple and adds to the ambiance of dining in the real Middle East. Not really inexpensive either. Nestled next to a middle eastern grocery store, it is a Mecca for people for migrated to the West and miss their native fare. Please do not get me wrong. If you are one of those who like trying international flavors but are not too concerned about authenticity, you will do fine here. But those of you who are in an eternal quest for real ethnic food are sure to leave with an unfulfilled desire. My kabab was tough and small in quantity.
