My hair stylist, Jan, recently relocated here so naturally I had to follow her. She was so great in communicating with me in regards to how I wanted my hair and was very informative. She explained that everything depends on how my "hair lifted." Being a mom, it's hard to take out a huge chunk of my day out just for me but I should be able to right lol I was going for a mushbrown hair color with baby lights. My hair is natural black and haven't colored it in a year or so. I had a A line that had grown out in 4 months and in dire need of a cut. I pretty much evened it out. She styled it in beautiful light waves. Jan colored and cut my hair in 5.5 hours, so faster than I thought. I've been wanting a quarantine cut for the longest time and because of all of the closures I was quite hesitant. I've been to Jasmine many years ago and am glad to be back. Just got freshly cut today by Rhea! I was kind of wondering if it would make a difference with my old color growing out (I decided not to do any color done today), but my hair looks amazing! Rhea is really friendly, and works really fast! I came in with long hair and asked for a lob (long bob), with a couple of layers. I had two photos, one of the lob, and one of an idea of what I wanted the front to look like (I couldn't decide between a middle part or side swept so I wanted something I could do both with). I must note that I am incredibly hesitant to pay to get my hair cut, since I've had such bad experiences in the past. My hair grows pretty fast so it's not devastating, but it's really a shame when you go to a salon that's like dolla dolla bills on Yelp and are totally let down... Not only was she in my price range, but she was totally worth the dolla dolla bill ya'll. She even styled my hair after my cut. I must say, I am super impressed with her styling skills. I usually let my hair stylists style my hair after a cut if they want, even if I know they probably won't do it in a way I like (I have straight hair and I usually wave it). Not only did Rhea style my hair in a way I loved, I also learned a new way to style my hair in order to get that relaxed 'tousled' look I've been trying to achieve with short hair! Let me just say that Hylynly rocks and she'll definitely give you one helluva new and improved look (don't get me wrong, we're all beautiful by default)! I'm in love with my new hair!! I have never truly colored my hair before and I have always been quite terrified of the change. However looking at my straight basic black locks for years and years I just couldn't go through another without doing something. And boy did I do something alright... Before I go into it I did sorta...maybe...kinda put a little color in my hair by this grand ol' thing called lightening gel! I went and took a chunk of gel and smothered it all over my front bangs. Sat in the sun for a good hour or so and repeated this for a couple of days. I shit you not my hair was Karen's from Harvest Moon 64. Yes. A dare by a video game character! Again...this was hella years ago. Anyways, I finally booked my very first hair appointment with Hylynly and she definitely deserves a 5/5 (if I could push the Yelp rate score I'd say 10). She talked to me throughout the entire process making me feel at ease. She did an amazing job on my hair and I feel absolutely refreshed and brand new. I am so impressed with the transformation of my hair. Gone are the days of straight hair. She has inspired me to make time and do more with my hair. So I found Rhea from scrolling through my Instagram explore page. Found her contact info from her website, and she's been my stylist since! Her new salon is SUPER rustic chic which is super cute and chill at the same time, much like Rhea herself! It has nice open windows with high ceilings, a very relaxing place to be! It has become my summer hangout spot. Located in a very small and quiet business area of Glen Cove with nice greenery around. Not too busy at all! Rhea's work is amazing! She'll turn all my pictures and idea into a work of art! Something very unique. I get my hair done from her all the time and get so many questions about my hair! Thank goodness for Instagram and Yelp! I've been looking for a hairstylist I can go to on a regular but I wasn't successful until I came to Hairitage. I'm extremely picky, so to me, it says a lot that. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how cute everything was! The waiting area had a nice coffee station and cute furniture all around. It helped that it was a nice day out because there were plenty of windows with natural lighting and somehow it made the place feel really relaxing (if that makes any sense). Rhea makes you feel comfortable from the start. Super friendly and I didn't feel awkward at all (like I usually do). I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she got started right away! She's quick but you could tell she's been doing this for a while. I had an ombré already and wanted to go lighter and ashy and she did just that! Who knew hair could make you so happy?? She's done my haircuts, color (balayage/baby highlights), updos, and even done my makeup for my proms and my cotillion. Although it is hard to book an appointment by her because of high demand, it's definitely worth the wait! She does an awesome job at blending color into your hair (it's not hella streaky, chunky, have that ugly noticeable unblended line when it comes to balayages, etc). Rhea= AMAZING. I'm very apprehensive to give her an honest raving rating because she won't have time for me after booking up from being a master at her craft. Sorry for that awful run-on sentence but I'm so excited and happy and I can't put it into separate sentences right now. I couldn't be happier with the end result. I've NEVER had someone listen, cut AND style the way she did. She evened out my ends by shortening the longest length. She gave me the nose length light and wispy, yet blended layers around the side and back of my head for body. She cut and trimmed my hair dry to see exactly what's happening with the scissors. And finally, she styled with a light wave, just like the photos I showed her. And the price couldn't be beat either. I was pleasantly surprised and shocked and gave her a nice tip. I'm one of those people who has a hard time describing what I want. Plus, I'm guilty of doing my own coloring between appointments. She listened to what I said while putting in her advice as well. My hair is long and coarse and I asked for many layers. She cut layers skillfully and quickly with no hesitation which I enjoyed.
