Came here today to bring my 3 year old daughter for her first haircut! She was a little nervous but Lorena was great with her! She made her feel so comfortable. She checked all the 1000 pics I brought patiently and gave me some insights as well. After a heavenly hair wash and scalp massage, she performed her magic. I had tried to get a short haircut at two separate salons before finding Studio J - both times the cut was out of their comfort zone to go from very long to very short, so while it's gotten shorter, it's not what I wanted. I called Studio J, Juli had an immediate opening and I showed her some inspiration pics. She was definitely in her comfort zone cutting my hair and she did it so well. It's taken me a long time to write this review because I have so much to write! I've been getting my hair cut by juli for about 15 years, and she's literally never given me anything but a fantastic haircut. I went through a highlights phase in middle school, and Juli did those beautifully. I've had my hair in many different forms of pixie cuts, and julis listened and figured out what I wanted even though I wasn't great at describing it. I also had an a-line cut for years, which juli layered beautifully upon my request. I went through a phase in college of cutting my own hair to save money (ill advised) and no matter what I'd done to it during the school year when i wasn't able to see her, she'd always fix it up perfectly the next time i saw her. She's also amazing to talk to if you're not positive what you want to do with your hair. She's so knowledgeable and such an expert on hair that she can tell you what will and won't work with your hair type. I've had my hair cut by other people before, when I wasn't able to see Juli due to being out of town, and no matter what I paid for the haircut no one ever measured up to her! Oh my goodness! Why had I not found this hair salon before? I am an asian woman and used to drive out of town to get my hair cut. Juli started with shampooing with all that gentle massage but very effective for stress relief and then cutted and styled my hair. She would listen to clients request and make it happen. So, it's taken me a few days since I got my hair cut with Julie this week, because I wanted to take the time to write something well thought-out. I've been seeing Julie for maybe a year and a half now to get regular hair cuts, and have always loved her work. Recently, I took it upon myself to start trimming my own bangs (haphazard and last minute each time) and let the longer part of my hair grow it. It was starting to look a little unruly, so I decided I wanted to get a full on pixie cut and start all over, a big risk for me!! Julie took the time to look at my numerous pictures I brought in, and to really understand what I wanted. She's always very friendly and asks me about things I have going on in my life. She always finds time to fit me into her schedule, even when I panic and need a hair cut at the last minute for specific events. This week, she took her time on my hair to get it just right, I didn't feel there was any rush at all. My hair is very fine, so it takes a lot of effort and precision to get it to look blended, and she did JUST that. At the end, I wasn't quite loving the length of the sides of my hair (the picture we used was a tad unclear on the length and she didn't want to start out cutting too much off), so she trimmed them up a bit more, making sure I didn't leave without absolutely loving my new 'do. And I seriously LOVE it!!!! I've gotten tons of compliments and feel great!! I couldn't be happier with my cut or the service at Studio J!! Julie, stylist and owner is so good with her craft! She always makes coming to her Salon such a pleasant experience. I just tell Julie to make me look pretty. Do what you think my hair needs and to style my hair to what she thinks looks good. I have full confidence and trust in what Julie will do and I I never leave her place disappointed. She is so meticouslous and detailed in her cutting so even after a couple of weeks my hair still falls in place and my cut still looks good. After reading all the rave reviews of JuLi at Studio J Salon in Benicia, I went to check her out. In these days of the Pandemic, there are no haircuts allowed in Contra Costa County which is where I live. The closest haircut I could get would be Benicia in Sonoma County. So off I went to see JuLi. She is indeed a good haircutter and gave me a nice looking crop. Imagine my surprise when she charged me $70 for a simple haircut. My mouth must have dropped open with the shock which caused her to drop down to 65 which I dutifully paid. I am used to paying about $25 with a 5 or 10 for a tip. read more

I am truly disappointed for the work I had from this place, I read all the reviews and they looked so good I made an appointment with Juli, she's a sweet lady but she doesn't know what she's doing when it comes of hair cuts, my hair was long passing my lower back and I asked to cut only 6 fingers of length and she cut it all the way to my shoulders, I was crying inside me, I was so sad and not only that, she didn't even cut my hair even, one side is longer than the other side, very very disappointed of this place, ultimately I asked her for two long layers and she couldn't do it, it really look so bad, I could have done this myself and probably I wouldn't messed it so bad ;( read more
