I would not go to this salon if you care about your hair and how you look.
I went in starting in June 2011 after having alot of dead ends and damaged hair cut in February 2011 at another salon. I spent $35 each visit for a "K-Pak" deep conditioner and went in 4 or 5 times. The goal was to grow out my hair and get it in great shape so we could continue with highlights and lowlights.
After waiting 7 months, I finally got to get it cut! I was so excited...and Tiffany cut the heck out of it! It was as short as when I got it all cut-off in February! I walked out of that salon with a head of hair that looked horrible! I immediately went home and wet it just to blow it dry the way I liked it and it was impossible! I fought with it for two weeks trying mousse, foam, gel, flat iron, curling iron and nothing helped it to look good! I was doing the same techniques and using the same products that dried out my hair to begin with!
I went back in exactly two weeks later after running around in the rain most of the day. Tiffany claimed she did not know what happened to her "that day" and she was glad I came back in because 'this is the only way I will learn." It was great to know that my hair was being used like an experiment!!! She stood there and said, "I will cut it dry this time." The only problem was, was the mere fact that my hair was in-between dry and wet and she even said you shouldn't cut it when it's in-between! She cut it more!!! I used to have lengths that were 6-8 inches long. They are now 1.5 to 5 inches long. I have curly hair; so does Tiffany. What were supposed to be 'wisps' of bangs are now a whole forehead of bangs that are cowlicks!! You can't do anything with cowlicks. Also, because the lengths are so short in the back, they don't lay right, they stick out everywhere and naturally there is alot of curl. The sides and top still do not lay right and the lengths are choppy and uneven.
I contacted the salon after another week of fighting my hair. They ignored my email and my request for a refund. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB of Norfolk, VA of which my complaint will stay in Hair It Is' file for 3 years.
I guess the most frustrating part in this whole situation is that I do not understand why we were deep-conditioning my hair for a couple of months just to cut it off. Tiffany knew from all of my prior visits that my goal was to have long layers and wisps of bangs. This situation was no different than stealing and maiming someone. It's just too bad that one doesn't find out until AFTER they have paid and tipped for this service.
Also, the manager of the salon breeds Austrailian Shephereds. You may not want to visit if you have a fear of or do not care for dogs. When I was in the 2nd time for 'damage-control', the dog was on her period and walking around freely with a diaper on. This is not the place for a dog most especially at that time of the month! Disgusting! And I love dogs but there is a time and a place for everything!
As of this date, the salon and Tiffany have not contacted me to apologize or offer any kind of compromise. It is bad enough that they ruined my hair, but to not even say they are sorry or refund my money just so I would not have terrible feelings about this salon...This is a prime example of a business that does not care about their customers; only about the almighty dollar. It isn't the money, but the principle. Obviously, they need it.
I am not trying to be mean, but I am the one who has to deal with this mess for the next several months. What was done to me was just simply wrong! So, my words of wisdom to everyone out there is beware of Hair It Is! . read more
