I had such a positive experience with this salon! I am always really anxious when I go to a hair stylist, mostly because I don't speak the lingo and have a hard time communicating clearly what I want my hair to look like. I had booked a same day appointment for an ombre, so first of all 5/5 for accommodating my short notice needs (I have a family wedding this weekend!) I have a short a-line and have been dying to do something fun with some red and blondes. She sat me down, went over my color complexion and how she thought the marsala would compliment my skin tone. I was relieved to hear this, as it was a concern of mine. She assured me that she always gives an honest opinion, even if it has to push her clients to chose a color that wasn't quite their first preference. She helped me feel at ease as she got to work on my hair, and it was heavenly to just relax as she did her art. The head massage was amazing. The products she used must have been infused with some sort of oil, because the fragrance was therapeutic while she rinsed all the dye from my hair. She did a light trim, just to allow for some fun texture and then spent a perfect amount of time styling my new ombre with some light curls to make it fun and bouncy. All in all, it was less than 2 hours and I absolutely love the outcome. I wish she could have seen the way my seven year old lit up after he saw it. I had been going to the same stylist for years, and for personal reasons I needed to try someone else. I was scared to go anywhere else, but I found Katherine's Groupon and went for it. First, the shampoo and head massage was awesome. I actually went in with a headache, and felt 10X better when I left. Katherine made me feel super comfortable, and between the two of us there was never a quiet moment or awkward silence during the whole process. When she started the cut, she was very in tune with what I wanted. If she wasn't sure, she would ask. And, she would cut it a little, show me in the mirror and ask if I liked it or wanted more off. I felt like I was getting my hair cut done by a friend. There were times I would explain what I wanted, and Katherine would do EXACTLY what I was picturing. Katherine did a trim, with some shaping around my face and she shortened my bangs. I was in love with my cut. There wasn't really anything that could have made it better. I decided that day that Katherine was going to be my new stylist. I am going on a trip on the 20th, and HAVE to have my hair cut again, so I am going to see Katherine later this week. I'm an older woman who had the same stylist for years (10); she always understood what I wanted. When the stylist retired, I tried two new stylists but in each case had a negative experience with the haircut. I'm very happy to have found Katherine, who really LISTENS to me and who offers very helpful suggestions. I don't always know how to describe the haircutting techniques that work best with my hair, and I don't always like the conservative styles that some stylists recommend for older clients. Katherine helped me figure out what would work with both my color and my cut. She is thorough in her work and she explains what she is doing. I left the salon looking and feeling wonderful, and plan to go back in a few weeks for a touch-up and trim. I arrived at Jenny's Hair & Company for my appointment with Katherine. She was super upbeat and finishing up "rescuing" a person who had been "butchered" elsewhere. The new client left smiling and Katherine then applied her magic to me. I need a color touch up and a trim. I explained that I had been unable to find anyone that filled my Montana stylist shoes since moving to Eugene two years ago. Eureka I am so happy to say I won't have to worry about getting back to Montana to get my hair colored and styled. I'm always very nervous getting my hair cut with a new person. I have curly, but fine, hair and it's really tricky to find someone who knows how to tackle it. I've seen Katherine twice now and each time, I've walked out feeling beautiful and loving my hair. The first time, I came in with a picture, since I have a hard time explaining what exactly I want with my hair. She cut it exactly how I wanted it, and asked questions to clarify as we went along. Recently I went in again and she remembered exactly how I wanted it, 6 months later! Her prices are very affordable, so I can actually do an appointment every 3 or so months and not break the bank. Katherine is wonderful. On a whim I decided to get color and highlights a few months ago and she was able to give me an appt within a couple days-so I decided to try her out. My hair came out exceptional! The red and blonde highlights are exquisite! I absolutely loved what she did and received MANY compliments. The I went back yesterday to cover up the brown (yuk) roots - and again- amazing- I absolutely LOVE what she created! This is a smaller shop and it feels very personal and accommodating. Katherine is great! From the first time I saw her I could tell she really cared about what I wanted for my hair and wanted it to look good. She gave me suggestions for options of what I could do in terms of low-lighting for my next visit. I went along with these and loved the result. She is good at matching colors precisely, I have a cool ashy blonde tone of hair and she was able to match my roots perfectly when adding in lowlights. Katherine is great at giving you the look you want. I actually found her on Groupon and texted her a picture of my then hair (pitch black) and what I wanted (caramel sombre). She told me she could do it and she did! This is the 2nd time I dye my hair with a professional and I loved her. It took two trips to bleach my hair the way I wanted and she was patient with me through it.
