I had a disappointing appointment with India. I showed photos and explained the style I wanted, but the result was noticeably uneven and much shorter than I agreed to. The undercut wasn't the shape I asked for, and it's choppy and uneven. I didn't feel listened to, and the overall quality of the cut was not acceptable. I paid $125 for a deluxe package and still left with below‑mediocre work. I even went home, rewashed my hair, and trimmed the uneven edges myself, and it still looks terrible. This area has many places to get a hair cut for men. However, most of them arer pretty terrible. While the Hair Cuttery is rather generic, I have gotten a good hair cut twice here, so far. I had to ignore the gross stink bug in the lobby and I hoped it wasn't a regular thing. I was also annoyed that I was automatically added to receive text messages which I truly despised. Either way, what makes this place is the young lady, Michaella. She finally gave me a good hair cut in this area. I returned and this time I requested her and will continue to do that. I've come here twice now, and both times have been so nice. I see Robbin (she's my aunt's stylist, has been for years) and boy, is she worth it. She's so kind and understanding, she does exactly as requested and tries to make your experience as relaxing as it can be. The other stylists I've interacted with are SOO nice! I always feel so welcomed there. I recently met the new salon manager, though I can't remember her name. We had a wonderful chat about our sons (I'm currently expecting my first, and she was giving me great advice!) and it just felt so... welcoming, calm, overall a great environment!! My husband said he has had some not great experiences there YEARS ago, but I have a feeling that's changed a lot... requested close cut...LOWER back portion about half way up...was shaved 2/3 the way up with a complete bald spot near the top of my ear!! Asked for TAPERING for the remaining. it was cut off bluntly without any tapering at all along with being uneven I'm usually not picky with a haircut as hair grows but I have to say this is the worst I have ever had. read more

Téa literally saved my life!!! I just left another salon where they completely messed up, gelled down and roughed up my hair. I came in and Jessica warned me about them being short-staffed that day, and I told her about the trauma I just endured with the other salon and she helped me immediately. She gave me, a gentle and soothing wash blow dry and trim and calmed me down from my previous experience. We were over charged for three kids hair cuts. The total was a rip off of $135 for kids under 10. We said the specific length for one of our kids and the cut was much shorter than what was asked. The stylist did the cut she thought was right instead of asking us. We had to hover over the stylist for our other kids to make sure the cuts were what we actually asked. At the end was when we found out additional charges were added. I won't go back to Mimi or haircuttery in Waldorf. read more

Terrible service. I called the day before to request color and a silk press for my birthday. I was quoted $75 for the silk press and $89 for the color. I had someone call for me and they did not get the name of the woman who answered, but that is the price she gave. I was told that Robin would be doing my hair. When I came in the next day at the scheduled time, Robin had been working on someone else's hair and told me it would take about 20 minutes until she'd be finished, then said she would get me a comb so that I could detangle my hair while I wait. I personally find it unprofessional to have your clients work on their own hair when they're at the salon for that very reason, but I did not have time to find someone else. I never received a comb, and 20 minutes turned into an hour. Once she was finally finished, I showed her the color I wanted and she needed to check and see if they even had it. She returned and told me that my hair was too dark to get that color naturally (it was a dark cherry red), so it would need to be lightened 2 shades, and that she would need 3 bottles to get to the color I wanted. For that, she charged me over $300. I told her never mind to the color, we can just do the silk press. With that, she said the silk press was over $100, and I asked the person who called if that was the price they got, and they said no, that it was $75. I let Robin know that the price was different yesterday and she tells me that it's always been over $100. I declined service and walked out. I would never go here again and anyone who might be considering this place should think otherwise. read more

I went to Hair Cuttery on October 1st, 2024, at 2 p.m. and saw Mimi. My hair was almost up to my hip, and I ended up with my hair up to my shoulders. I asked for layers and to keep my hair length. I asked her to cut 1 1/2 inches of hair. She cut my hair completely uneven, choppy, and short. When I got home, I immediately dried my hair and burst into tears. It hurt me so much that she completely didn't care about me and what I asked for. I wanted to trim and add some layers. She cut chunks of random hair all over my head, and it's like she was just playing with the scissors in my hair. I sat down in the salon until she finished my hair and didn't realize until I got home the damage she had done. The reason I went here on this day was because I just wanted to have pretty, fresh hair, and what I ended up with was trauma. They absolutely traumatized me. The more I looked in the mirror in the salon, the more I cried. Yes, they made me cry at the salon. I went back to get my money and to ask her why she did that to me. I felt so helpless that I didn't understand why she had to do that to me. At one point I thought that she did it on purpose; there is no way she didn't know what she was doing. I asked the other employees about her, and they said she had been working there for 5 years. That's why I think this was personal and that she knew she had messing up my hair. I went back the next day to the salon to talk to Mimi and ask for my money refunded. Mimi refused to talk to me and give me an apology or an explanation as to why she did that to my hair. The more I think about this and why this happened to me, the more questions I have. I really don't know why she wanted to ruin my hair. I should have listened to my previous stylist to never go to a hair cutter. Needless to say, I will never be putting a foot in another hair cuttery in my life. I'm still waiting to hear back from District Manager Bryce Besaw about this matter and for him to issue an apology. Hair Cuttery cannot keep hiring people like this and disrespecting us this way when we are paying our hard-earned money!!!!! In early June 2025, I booked my second appointment with MiMi, as she did reasonably well the first cut. However, on the second appoint-ment, I told MiMi that I wanted A DRY CUT WITH A HAIRLINE BOB AND LONG LAYERS. She gave me A VERY SHORT, LOPSIDED BOB (longer on the right) WITH A WEDGE. I did not realize how poor the cut was until I got home. Since my hair is naturally curly, this is the wrong cut for me. She should have suggested that a wedge is really not right for my hair texture, and suggested a better cut for me. She also indicated that she would send receipt to my email address. I never received the receipt, and will never go to MiMi again. In the future I will have the hairdresser repeat my instructions back to me to ensure that she understands my instructions. I will also get my receipt at the time of service in the future. One star is too much, as I will have to go at least 4 months before it is possible to repair the damage she did to my cut. Mabel ruined my hair. For context, I have no information about hair whatsoever, so I always provide my stylists with pictures because I feel as if it helps them better than me having to explain something confusing. I tried to ask if maybe I could have my straight hair styled in a way that looks sort of curled. Again, I do not know anything about hair AT ALL. She fucking laughs at me, then proceeds to tell her coworker, like? It was just a question? I'm sorry I don't know anything about hair? Then she proceeds to continuously bother me about how I should do it if I wanted it curled, like do you really think I'd welcome advice from someone who just laughed at me? I have given her another photo to look at that matches my hair type and then keeps asking me what I wanted when I just showed her. So we compromise and look at their hairstyle book so I can choose from it but she kept giving me horrible recommendations. Despite the horrible cut she did clean up my hair a little bit, but the styling is not what I wanted. I honestly wished I just walked out of there. I paid for the cut, didn't leave a tip. I made an appointment online to get my hair cut and styled before a nice dinner with my boyfriend. I walked in there and Krystal said she'd take care of me. I told her I wanted my hair cut to the top of my breasts and she said okay. The initial cut was perfect and then it kept getting shorter as she tried to even it out. I voiced concern saying it was getting too short. She told me to go to the shampoo bowl and we can fix my hair afterwards. By the time we got back to her chair I saw the left side was about an inch longer than the right. I asked for some LIGHT layers beginning near the bottom of my ear. She kept cutting past that. I AGAIN voiced concern saying it was too short. She told me "it's fine, the back is long still". The back was about 5 inches shorter than my initial request still. But she still kept cutting. It took everything in me to not cry. Plus, when my boyfriend (who's card I used to pay) went in to get a refund because i came out sobbing at my "mushroom mullet", she was rude to him and claimed I "liked" everything when she asked how it was looking. We did not get a refund for this crappy job. I did not say I liked it once. Even when i got up from the chair to go pay, I only said thanks. I am EXTREMELY upset, embarrassed and frustrated at her for just doing whatever she wanted. When I go somewhere to get my hair done and explain what I am in envisioning, I expect to get pretty darn close to that. This awful haircut is beyond fixing. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I made an appointment with one of the stylists for a shampoo, conditioner, hair cut and blow dry. She gave me an estimate which was completely different to the amount on the website. She told me in order for her to cut my hair she needs to blow dry it: "so I don't cut more hair than want you want" because I have wavy hair. She told me that would be an additional $50. I was very specific with the style I wanted and for reference, I have curly/wavy hair, 3B. Long story short, she ended up cutting way more than I told her, and when I specifically told her not to cut my bangs, she did anyways! It was extremely choppy, short and nothing like the picture I showed her. I had very long thick beautiful hair and she ruined it. Luckily it's just hair, so I know it would grow back.
