Sam fit us in as walk-ins and did it right! Very professional and kind. We had Cara last time and have the same things to say about her. We continue to be impressed with the stylists at Hair Cuttery and it is our new, best hair salon. read more

1st visit to Hair Cuttery and was fortunate Ashleigh was assigned to me. Though my style is pretty basic, it had been months since my last cut. After the standard "what are you looking for," Ashleigh actually listened and had follow up questions to understand my preferences. She checked for satisfaction all the way through and did a great job. Bottom line: got a real good cut that I was well satisfied with (even my wife agreed). It was a great overall experience and I'll be going back to Ashleigh next time around. read more

I went in on Sunday morning and got the best stylist on duty. Joanie greeted me and proceeded to be undeterred by a huge tangle in the back of my head. She took the time it required to get the tangle completely out, which I was grateful for, before proceeding to wash and style my hair. Joanie was the ultimate professional and so pleasant, despite the tough detangling job I presented her with. She truly made my day. I love my hair and I will definitely schedule my next appointment with Joanie! read more

They always do a good job with my kids' hair. They get it done quickly before they lose their tolerance for sitting in the chair. I decided to try them for a simple haircut/trim for myself and wasn't impressed. I asked for textured ends because I don't like a blunt cut, and even after her redoing it before finishing up, it was still too blunt. I eventually got it fixed by someone else. read more

Hair dresser Tammy is so skillful and easy to chat with. And she gave me a great cut!

Christina is amazing (friendly and professional). She discussed the best option and what my hair needed. I even learned about a service Hair Cuttery offers that I didn't even know about. Thank you Christina guiding me on my healthy hair journey. read more

Normally this is the only place I go. The last three times I've gone I've logged in online and showed up at the exact time stated. Each time people walk in, sign in, and get helped before me. No, these were not people with appointments. This most recent time, I waited over an hour while three other people were helped before me. I was quoted 30 minutes. I know these people did not have appointments as they went to the counter and i listened as they signed in. A stylist would see them and call them back, obviously recognizing them as a friend or repeat customer. There seems to be no management at this place anymore. Online sign ins seem to be on a separate list, as last time they didn't even know I was signed in at all until I asked after 30 minutes. I always tip 50% and I've been going tot his location all my life, but I will not be returning. read more

Mediocre haircut last time. I described what I wanted, but I ended up with a 90s boy-band has has been haircut. I wanted to make another appointment today. No one answered the phone after five tries over an hour. It directed me to the website. I have no desire to create an account just to get a $%^&* haircut. I already have enough extraneous accounts that I had to create for other stupid stuff. read more

Walked in without an appointment and Amber took me straight back. I was totally surprised due to the fact that Amber is one of the best. Not to mention my favorite. She is very patient and accommodating to make sure you leave satisfied. read more

I booked for a signature hair cut that costs $24. After the shampoo and hair cut the stylist started drying my hair and charged $35. I never asked for a blow dry and it was not styling at all. Just a bit of a drying after the cut. I was totally surprised. She should've mention that earlier. Very disappointed. read more

Hair Cuttery - Hair Stylists Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

I walked in without an appointment, but early in the morning, and was told that they had a 4 hour wait and couldn't take me, even though the place was nearly empty. No one was waiting, and there was one hair dresser sitting around playing on her phone. With a name like "Hair Cuttery", one would think that they would be in the business of actually cutting hair - but that didn't seem to be the case at this location. read more

I guess Sunday nights aren't the best time to get a haircut. I showed up and was taken back instantly but some guy. I gave him clear directions for what I wanted and he followed NONE of it. My hair got botched and I have never gotten a worse cut. I've been there before and I'm guessing this guy is VERY new. read more

I was told 30 minute wait, which stretched to an hour. I was a walk in without an appointment, I get that scheduled clients have priority, but if I may make a suggestion, please don't waste people's time by just saying a random number of minutes when giving an estimate of wait time. I'd much rather hear "to be honest, it's going to be a looooong wait" to which I'll reply thank you and I'll come back because of honesty. Instead I was told a random number for wait time which was obviously not true. My time was wasted, and time is money. This Hair Cuttery made me waste money. I left after an hour and a half of waiting. So why the one one star rating even though I didn't get a fair cut? Well on top of the lack of honesty when it came to estimating wait times, during my time sitting in the waiting area, i was able to see other people's finished work. And i gotta say, maybe it's a good thing I didn't get called. This one guys fade was all jacked in the back - I felt so bad for the guy. I'm pretty sure all he asked for was a nice hair cut so he can look nice for a lady. Instead, he'll end up on one of those "I got you fam" barber/stylist memes. TLDR: don't waste your time, money, or chance to meet ladies by coming here. read more

I showed up on a Friday around 3:00. The shop was not very busy. There was one person waiting and three folks behind the counter. Several people were getting their hair cut. I checked in and was told to wait. The person waiting was taken after a couple minutes. Another person came in and was also taken before me. I'm assuming they were on a waitlist. During my entire wait there were always at least 2 and sometimes 4 people (stylists) sitting or standing by the register. After 20 minutes of waiting I had enough and left. This is not the first time this has happened at this store. I will not be back read more

Go see Alexis for your next haircut especially if you have wavy hair! My hair hasn't looked this healthy and bouncy in a long time. I just moved to the area and am always nervous going to a new place to get my hair cut especially since my hair is thick and can be difficult (in my opinion). If you're like me and hesitant to get your hair cut in Charlottesville, just book an appointment with Alexis! The price of the cut is $19 (a steal for this area!) and her skills are definitely on par with what you'd find in a non-chain salon. read more
