I Always go to the Rio Hill location for either Charlie or Willie. Both are excellent stylists, but I chose Charlie the last two times. He is extra professional, and does a great job. My cut and style is pretty standard, but he still makes sure it is *exactly* the way I want it before I go, and even then is always happy to make any adjustments afterwards if I want them. I keep neglecting to post a review here. But had my hair done here (it was one of the few places open on a Sunday) back in early September. I had made a silly decision in July to get the "Skrillex" (one side shaved) and dye my hair purple, and ALL of the purple had bled out, leaving a splotchy mess of pink, blue, and green. Not only did they accommodate my schedule, but the dye job is still holding now in mid-October. My stylist (unsure on her name) found a color that dyed super well over the purple mess, and blended with my natural color so that growout has been seamless! She also did an excellent job of cutting around the growing-out short side of my hair. I expected Supercuts crap quality here. But that's not at all what I got! I'm super impressed! read more

I went here earlier, hoping to get my hair done for some highlights, and the lady (I didn't catch her name, all I knew is that she was old, asian and short) tried to persuade me not to get my hair done the way that I had wanted. After I insisted I wanted to highlight my hair, she continued to say that she did not have that color, then explained how 'expensive' it was and that I would ruin my hair. Money is not my problem, she was a waste of my time! If you go, just try to avoid the her at all costs, maybe just don't go at all. read more

My husband got his hair cut here yesterday. He asks for nothing complicated, a level 2 or 4 buzz cut (I'm not sure of any of the terminology, I apologize) and he came home with track marks in his hair. Whoever cut his hair couldn't even guide clippers over his skull evenly, he has parts of his hair that are longer and shorter on the sides like a lawn that's been mowed lazily. He told me his "stylist" said "I can't trim your beard for you" as he sat down in the chair without him even asking or mentioning that service. She should have told him she couldn't cut his hair either. I asked him the name of his stylist and he couldn't remember, and then realized he wasn't given a receipt for his haircut that might have indicated that information. You should be so ashamed of the way you run your business. You're missing every key point of being a good small business and a hair salon. read more

I had a hair emergency on Saturday. I had went and got my hair done by someone who I've been going to for years, and my hair ended up yellow. I was leaving for vacation, and was so upset that I was going to have to suffer with yellow hair my whole vacation. My friend referred me to Erica at hair cuttery on rio. Even tho my hair was a complete mess (and not her mess!) she did the best she could to fix it. When I left I was happy- she got most of the yellow out and also gave me a conditioner treatment to help with the damage. Poorly Managed, Poorly executed business This review pertains to the Hair Cuttery at Hollymead TownCenter. I definitely would not recommend this site. The manager, Laura, who should be setting the professional environment is totally inept and as a result the consultants can be heard griping about the business, other co-workers, and even clients. This happens almost every time I've been there. The fact that they have a reputation of mistreating their employees is manifested in their employee turnover rate and rules that end-up only hurting the customer-like they don't allow their consultants to "take appointments" unless they are the most senior stylists. I will certainly be finding another place to have my child's haircut! I wouldn't even consider allowing them to touch mine! read more

Went in a haircut today. I saw 2 people waiting ahead of me and 3 other people getting their hair done. I signed in and was told it would be about a 20-25 minute wait. 4 more people have checked in after me, 20 minutes later, the 2 people ahead of me left one by one. I looked at the clock... goodness I've been there an hour. When I asked how long it would be, I was told just a few more minutes... 10 minutes later, I just walked out. Things were moving vvveeerrrryyyy ssssllllloooowwww there. I won't be back to find out how the service is. Been to this location a couple of times and the other times were okay, but yesterdays visit has bothered me enough to not return. I asked for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry, and my eyebrows done, which should have been around 33-35, but when I was rang up I was charged $42. If I didn't ask for some silly useless package, then don't do it, and don't charge me for it. Not only that, I asked for the shape of my eyebrows to be kept, but I left with thin dreadful "U" shaped eyebrows - the nightmare I have always avoided.
