Had an appointment set for the 11th at 2:30pm we got a message saying our stylist was running 10 mins behind no problem. We got there and they sit us down our stylist still takes 40 mins not once someone came to tell us hey im sorry then they ask my wife who was already annoy if she had a preferred stylist she just she said no. like dude we made am appointment with an specific stylist the person we originally schedule with started helping the person that just walked in like what that person didnt even do exactly what ky my wife wanted needles to say we barely got an apology i dont think I will be back. read more

I called this morning on a whim because I wanted to get my hair straightened as part of a self care day. I was given plenty of options of when to come in, and could even look online at the times available. As a first timer, Tina was so lovely and welcoming and made me feel very at ease in her chair. UPDATE: Corporate (I'm assuming that is who it is) contacted me, told me to email their customer care. I was told I'd be contacted by the salon, and they'd make things right. Well, I did as instructed. I have yet to hear back from the salon. So, I guess that since they have their money, they just don't give a rip. That's fine. I tell EVERYONE I know when I'm happy with a business and when I'm UNhappy, I tell even MORE people. I am definitely UNhappy. Wish I could give NEGATIVE stars. The staff was very nice, my stylist was very nice. Went in for a cut and perm. The problem is that I did NOT leave with the end result I wanted. I TOLD them, I wanted my hair to 'fall in ringlets', just wash, shake it out and have curls. "No problem". What I received might be a popular look for the hip, "in" crowd, but it is NOT what I wanted. I despise the tousled, 'bed - head' look. I'm OLD, I don't do "in". I had them cut off almost 3 foot of hair in order to have shoulder length curls. I didn't get that. If I want curls, I have to roll my hair and sleep on curlers. Did I mention that I'm old?? Sleeping on curlers is for young people for whom a lack of sleep is no big deal. Basically, I spent $200 in order to have to style my hair on a daily basis. If I'd wanted to fight my hair daily, I'd have kept the longer than butt length that I had to fight daily. VERY disappointed. Very. As you can see in the photos, I got waves, NOT curls. Once dry, it looks messy and frizzy. read more

The thing that made me the most uncomfortable was the pressure to purchase products during my visit. I caved and purchased the smallest size I could find of a recommended product, and left having spent $80 for a basic haircut and one mini-sized product, so in my opinion the value just wasn't there for me. I went in and saw a young girl named Bella. I asked for light balayage and a cut a little above my shoulders with subtle layers. She gave me high lights, and also botched my hair. I had pretty long hair, she cut probably more than 10 inches off. The worst experience I've ever had, my hair still looks awful, not only did she botch my hair with the layers, THE CUT ISN'T even on both sides!!!!! So not go here. My hair is falling out in handfuls since they colored it. This was my first time to the salon! I went back to them and they argued with me and questioned me that it was a health issue after I explained to them that it was not. The manager was rude and intimidating rather than offering a solution to help fix the problem. At that point I asked for a refund because it was obvious they had no solution or at the very least not offering me one but rather blame me for the issue they created. They said the owner would call me. Never heard a word but they were happy to cancel my appointment via text that I had made when I first came to them. So unprofessional! This service cost me $288 and I am left with my hair falling out in clumps and no attempt to rectify it!! My hair is ruined!!! read more

There was a computer error with my appointment time and what could've made for a disappointing afternoon- turned out to be a fantastic hair appointment. Shout out to Rachael at the Barracks Road location for being not only super kind and willing to squeeze me in but for also doing a fantastic job on my hair. Despite being squeezed in, Rachael never made me feel rushed or that what I wanted wasn't doable. She went above and beyond for what I'm sure was a simple hair cut for her. Morgan at the Hollymead Town Center location did an awesome job on my pixie cut! She was super friendly and gave me exactly the cut I wanted even though I wasn't quite sure how to describe it at the beginning. She also made some adjustments at the end to make sure I was super happy with it and wore a mask in accordance with my preference. I would totally come back and I highly recommend her. The salon was also nice looking, quiet, with good decor and lighting. It was a pleasant place to get my hair cut. read more

Still new to Charlottesville and eventually needed a haircut, so I researched all the few salons within the 20 mile radius and settled for Bubbles. I was trying to grow my hair long again, but I should know better to get at least a trim. Tina was fantastic! I asked her to keep the length and she just cleaned the edge and gave my hair a bit of a shape (she probably noticed my desperation to keep the length). I am still wearing the same cut since Nov13. Yesterday was my first time going to Bubbles. I'm from NYC and only in Charlottesville for a travel assignment (I'm a traveling physical therapist). I spent the better part of a week looking up different hair salons in the Charlottesville area until a co-worker recommended Bubbles in Hollymead as she said, everyone she sees walking out of that salon looks great. Best recommendation ever. Service was great, everyone was friendly, and Jessie did an amazing job with my hair despite my scant instructions/descriptions: artistic license, I just want a new, low maintenance style. She really delivered! No real styling products used/needed, no flat iron needed, no fancy blow out skills needed. Just wash, anti-frizz, and dry. Woke up this morning and despite all the tossing and turning I do throughout the night, a simple brush and my hair looked almost as good as when I left the salon! Prices are more than reasonable when compared to skill level and attention to detail as well as speed of service. I walked out of there in less than 30 minutes for wash/cut/dry despite multiple interruptions due to external factors. Speed did not affect service and end result the least. LOVE IT! read more

No I did not get my hair cut at a place called bubbles but I wish I had! I took my autistic son here and they were simply amazing. He has NEVER sat still for even a trim and they charmed him all the way through. They cut my daughters hair right next to him and finished her off with braids. Both got suckers for good behavior. Yes they cut adult hair too, mostly women. Wife was getting color and rinse and she looks great. Again, I wish I had time for myself. Also of note, good music but at low volume, thumbs up Comfy seating and refreshments to boot If you have an autistic child ask for the stylist with the cotton candy hair, names Tiffany. For the past year, I've been asking for Elisa. She is fabulous. I bring her pictures of what I want and she tells me how she can do it (or modify it so it looks good with my hair type/face shape). I came in on a sleepy Saturday morning and the women were in top gear, and running the shop like they stepped off a hair-runway. All their hair, and I mean -- all of the stylists -- had great hair. From the lob (long bob), to the asymmetric cut, to the long wavy curls, these ladies looked fresh! I came for a cut and was really happy with my results. Here's a bit more background, I have straight hair with stubborn fly-a-ways, and weird volume. It takes a very patient person to understand what to do with this, and Sandra, did a great job. She was meticulous with every cut she made and kept communicating with me throughout the entire process. I really appreciated her willingness to cut and re-cut until I was satisfied. Yikes. I scheduled an appointment for an up-do Saturday morning. The staff was welcoming and nice, but that's about all I can say positively for this experience. I requested a high, smooth bun. It requires knowing how to make a pony tail, use a couple pins, and a pick comb to tease a bit. My stylist requested help from her colleague, who was nice, but she literally couldn't do more than spray my hair at the end. The style wasn't even and not very clean looking for a simple design. I go to this salon often to get my hair and waxing done by Tiffany. I enjoy talking to her and to be honest would not go here if she did not work there. Most of the other stylists are rude and not friendly to clients who aren't in their chairs. The manger does not act like a manager from what I have observed from my several times being there and the conversations over overheard her having on the floor with her employees and clients about her employees. Very unprofessional!!! There is also an odor that follows her around that I have noticed! The salon is always clean, the receptionist is friendly always and the products are amazing as well! I would recommend Tiffany to anyone who wanted to get their hair done, no matter what they wanted done. Other stylist I recommend are Ashley, Stacy, Elizabeth and Megan! read more
