I go to this salon often to get my hair and waxing done by Tiffany. I enjoy talking to her and to be honest would not go here if she did not work there. Most of the other stylists are rude and not friendly to clients who aren't in their chairs. The manger does not act like a manager from what I have observed from my several times being there and the conversations over overheard her having on the floor with her employees and clients about her employees. Very unprofessional!!! There is also an odor that follows her around that I have noticed! The salon is always clean, the receptionist is friendly always and the products are amazing as well! I have gone to Bubbles for several years now and was always satisfied. However my last visit was tragic. I went in for highlights on my blonde hair, and Monique my colorist did an awful job. She took 4 hours to just foil my hair. She put bright blonde highlights in and dark low lights when I asked for her not to put low lights in. I was a stripy mess which was not what I asked for at all. She spent hours trying to correct the problem but it just got worse. I had to end up going somewhere else for corrective color. read more

I made an appointment for a blowout, and when I showed up with my clean hair, my stylist insisted she shouldn't blow out my hair because it wouldn't hold if washed twice. Instead she offered to curl it to get the same desired effect. I asked for good body with a little curl, but nothing too curly. The end result was basically tight ringlets that were not only not what I asked for, but looked awful. I had to go home and wash and style my hair myself after paying for it to be styled by a professional! I would not recommend this place based on my experience. read more

Sandra was amazing. I have been dyeing my hair a natural looking red for six years, and was letting my natural hair color grow back in, and was hating the line of dye and growth. I researched balayage, a new highlighting technique, and was really nervous about letting anyone but me touch my hair. She did a stunning job, my hair feels and looks healthy despite coloring again, and I look like I've been out in the sunshine. She did a wonderful job, and I will be trusting her with my hair as long as I live here. read more

She is very experienced and it shows! This was my first time at Bubbles and I will never go to another salon again! All of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I showed her a picture of the hair cut I wanted and she nailed it!! She was very nice and helpful on teaching me how to style my new cut at home. SO happy I checked Yelp reviews and decided to come here! I just moved to Charlottesville less than a month ago, and let's face it - what's more stressful to a woman than having to find a new hair salon? I am picky. No, scratch that. In all honesty, I'm ridiculously picky. I am blessed in that I have really good hair - but I'd like to keep it that way! I have freaked out over bad haircuts and bad color/highlights (haven't we all?), and there have been way too many! I recently had a terrible, awful, traumatizing experience with a former stylist who used 40 volume peroxide on my already lightened hair and literally fried it to pieces. I'm talking 2 inch pieces of platinum blonde hair falling all around me like a nightmare hairstorm. My hair was too brittle and damaged to even brush or blow dry for 2+ months, so I rocked my naturally wavy look all summer. Cried a lot, and mourned my beautiful hair. So today, having not done anything to my hair since early June (!) I went (very nervously) to my appointment with Ashley at Bubbles. She couldn't have been nicer! We hit it off right away (she has fine hair too and totally gets it that you can't use razors or thinning shears on it or it shreds), and she spent time on a very thoughtful and helpful consultation with me as to how we were going to get rid of the damage that obviously had to be cut off, but still not lose too much length, all the while still cutting my hair into a nice, contemporary style. She listened, she gave great advice, made excellent product suggestions - without any pressure to buy at all, and gave me a GREAT CUT and deep conditioning treatment that has my hair feeling like silk and looking better and healthier than it has in a LONG time! We have a plan to get me back to my healthy, shiny, highlighted blonde, and are moving in steps to my shorter much more layered "goal" cut. We agreed that since it's a big change, maybe doing it in steps would be the way to go and I totally agree. I feel super safe and confident in Ashley's capable hands. I was actually relaxed and felt comfortable in every way the whole time. Everyone in the salon was really nice, laid back, and just plain friendly (none of that all-too-common looking down your nose condescending attitude crap, here!) Bubbles is clean, modern, comfortable, well-lit, and pretty much perfect in my opinion. It's modern and high-er end without being snooty, too "artiste-y", or overpriced. Great product lines and selection (Redken, MoroccanOil, Pureology, etc.), AND you can add a tip on your credit/debit card (yay! who carries cash anymore anyway?), plus, they offer you coffee, tea, or lovely orange-infused water. What?! My search for my new salon and hairdresser is over! I'm so excited I got it right the first time! Ashley and Bubbles are awesome. Such an all-around great experience. Two thumbs way up. Already booked my next appointment! LOVE! Thank you Ashley! EDITED 7/16 Although I still think Ashley is a sweetheart, my last 3 visits were nowhere near as good as my first. Had to go back and have a cut fixed. Twice. And it still wasn't even close to what I'd wanted. I even brought pictures. I gave them three chances...three strikes...you're OUT. Sigh. This was my first visit. I have just moved to the area and I was so nervous as I have been going to my previous hairdresser for 20 years. I loved my stylist Rhonda. She did a fabulous job with my highlights, it looked amazing. She took the time to ask questions, get my preferences, etc. She even helped me find a way around using toner as it really irritates my scalp. I love the cut too and she gave me tips to help make styling my hair easier as I am about to become a new Mom. Love this place! read more

To anyone who has problem hair, i.e., fine, thin, limp, etc. give Tina at Bubbles a try. I have always needed perms, but because my hair takes curl very quickly I am often burned and frizzed, to the point the damage has to be cut out. This even though I tell the stylist exactly how long is too long, they persist with what works SHOULD work, and I pay for the damage. Tina, however, listened! Amazing! Best perm since I moved to Charlottesville 5 years ago. And a good cut. read more

I moved to Charlottesville a year ago. I usually go to get my hair cut at Cutting Edge, but I figured I would try out Bubbles because it's closer to my apartment. The first two times I went, I was helped by Sandra. The first time she was doing my hair for a wedding. My hair looked nice, but she did not follow my directions at all. The second time was for a 2 inch haircut with layers. It was a MESS! I got home and my roommate made me turn around and go right back. Jessie came to the rescue and fixed the mess that was my hair. She pushed back a different appointment to be able to squeeze me in and help me out. If it wasn't for Jessie, I wouldn't even consider going back to this salon. read more

I cannot say enough about the service and experience we had today at Bubbles in Hollymead Town Center. My daughter's hair got caught in a mixer yesterday at my MILs. It ripped a huge chunk out leaving a bald spot, and between the loose hair, the eggs and sugar, and the entanglement around the mixer, she ended up with a large matted clump. I spent 2 hours this morning soaking her hair in everything I could think of, tediously trying to work through it. We both needed a break so we went to Sweet Frog then walked over to Bubbles. We had no appointment. They immediately took us in. Andrea was our main stylist and she worked for another 2 hours trying to detangle her hair. Almost every stylist in the salon helped at some point, either with products and suggestions, or rolling up their sleeves and diving in. They worked tirelessly and never once pushed me to just give up and cut it. They were so sweet to my daughter, who even fell asleep as they tried hot water and about a million products I've never even heard of. When I finally said let's just cut it - Andrea was super careful to take the bare minimum needed and to ensure her hair blended well enough to cover up that area. And after 2 hours of nonstop labor on a 4 year old's hair, they only charged me $25 (?!) That was some of the most amazing customer service and human compassion I've ever seen.
