I was really looking forward to getting my hair done after letting it grow out during quarantine. I asked for an ash-blonde money piece balayage and even had a video as an example. I've never met someone with such TERRIBLE customer service. I understand it's been hard for everyone because of the pandemic so I tried to be as pleasant as possible but she really took advantage of my kindness. After she finished washing my hair, I realized the front 2 pieces were looking really yellow and were significantly lighter than the rest of my highlights. She started saying it's because my hair is still wet and it'll look better after she dries it. And surprise surprise it did not get better. I kept mentioning that the color was off and not blended but she insisted that she did an even better job blending my hair than the person from the video. At that point I started believing her because she was so confident and persistent but now that I think about it I'm pretty sure I was manipulated. Fast forward, I paid and tipped her because I didn't want to be terrible. This morning I took a proper look at myself and I just couldn't. I know it's not possible to get the exact hair from a picture but this ain't it. I called her to ask if she can fix my hair and she started blaming me for wanting a balayage instead of an ombré. I don't understand how that has anything to do with having blended hair because I'm 100% sure you can have an even balayage. She even had the audacity to tell me to pay her more to fix it. So clearly I refused and told her I'd do it myself. The best part is she calls me again, tells me to hold, hangs up, AND NEVER CALLED BACK. I just wanted a nice balayage but got GASLIGHTED and a whole e-girl makeover (it looks great on others just not me). Thanks Lynn. read more

Our hair is part of us, part of our expression. I had a traumatic hair experience back in august of this year and I finally built up the guts to try someone new as my hair was in desperate need of a trim. Thus I turned to Yelp and found Lynn. Sure, I saw a few of the negative reviews but there were so many more positive ones so I gave her a go. When I first called to make an appointment for balayage and cut and asked pricing, she said she couldn't tell me until she sees my hair. The red flag went up but I ignored it. I mean, would you get a boob job, plastic surgery, manicure, hamburger without knowing the price range first? Even if you don't want to give a firm price, give me a range at least...right? So I get in her chair and she seems nice. After some talking I feel like, "This might be alright after all." WRONG! After she blow dried she immediately curled my hair instead of showing me the haircut. Even with curling I could see the choppy uneven layers. She kept saying that it was due to my previous haircut. Anyway I go home and after washing my hair, my fears are confirmed- she chopped my hair. I texted her, and to her credit, she told me to come in. She starts snipping and then after a few minutes, as if in frustration, she starts cutting the choppy pieces straight across, as in cutting them shorter instead of blending them. I explicitly said to her, "You just cut my hair shorter, I saw you cut across." Instead of owning up to her error or ineptitude, she states that it's the fault of the prior haircut. Lady, YOU just cut my hair even shorter, YOU did that. Where am I, crazy town?! She keeps saying, "Oh just let it grow out." At this point I want to just run out before I explode. She takes off the drape and pats my shoulder...the nerve! YOU, as another woman, should understand how much hair is part of our being. YOU do a horrible job and have the nerve to pat my shoulder?! I leave and sit in my car for a few minutes in disbelief. I can't believe that she just let me leave her chair looking a mess. Does she have no pride in her work? I can't believe she tried to take me on a tour of crazy town and I almost let her. How can she blame this crazy haircut on the prior haircut?! Madness. I go back and ask for my money back so I can use it to have someone else fix it. She still wants to live in crazy town and blame the prior haircut. She starts acting hurt and angry. She only gives me back $50 of the $240 I paid for cut and color. So I paid for crappy cut and color and will have to pay more to hopefully get it fixed AND I get to walk around feeling fugly. What a crappy week. Thanks Lynn. read more

Lynn is amazing! I love how she's hardworking, caring, and GENUINE. She pays close attention to what we want and gives the best suggestions as to what we should do to our hair. Yesterday was my third time coming to Lynn. My first time was around November of 2016. Honestly, I was completely clueless on how I wanted my hair to be exactly but I knew I wanted something like a highlight balayage kind of thing. Basically, she gave me some options and I chose from it. It turned out very nice! That was my very first time getting my hair done professionally so to be quite honest, I wasn't used to the change. But my friends all loved my hair so it made me feel happy (and have no regrets)! :) During my winter break (which was around beginning of January), I went back in to get my hair toned. (Toning is very important to get rid of the orange color)! I knew I wanted to get my hair toned but she asked me whether I wanted a lighter or darker toning. I didn't know. But, because I think at one point I told Lynn that I live out of town because of school, she suggested that I should go darker for two reasons. 1. It'll make the highlights seem more subtle (which I personally prefer!) and 2. I wouldn't have to come back as often to get it toned. She told me that the next time I should come back is summer time which was a huge plus for me! To me, that meant I wouldn't have to come down as often and I get to save money too. (Here, she was thinking about me more than herself). Throughout the months, I was just in love with my hair and the color. Third time (august 2017) I came in for a retouch on my roots and toning. In short, I love how it came out. :) All three experiences were great! I'm planning to stick with Lynn for a while! In terms of the prices, I PERSONALLY think it's a bit pricier, BUT only because I'm an (almost broke) college student. However, I do see it as fair in the long run! It's nice to invest in yourself and treat yourself to some nice hair. I never had any regrets on spending money on hair at Lynn's! Overall, definitely TRUST in Lynn! She does great things! Thank you, Lynn! :) read more

Note: I'm writing this review prematurely; I haven't received any services yet. I booked my appointment with Lynn through Yelp, then decided to text her to introduce myself and share a picture of my hair along with the color that I am hoping for. She was quick to respond to all my questions and was honest in what she can do with my hair. I look forward to my appointment in a few days and will share pictures with the Yelp community. read more

I'm always scared & nervous getting my hair done with new people. It was my first time meeting Lynn and she was very amazing though! She's very kind, sweet, and she works very hard and efficiently on your hair. I didn't know what to do with my hair for this appointment, but I trusted Lynn to choose for me and she did my hair perfectly. She is an expert also when it comes to coloring asian hair. :) She colored my hair balayage for this appointment. She also cut and trimmed off the dry parts of my hair and my hair looked so healthy after. I was very happy with my hair after and she charges reasonably too. I want to keep going to her from now on. :) read more

Lynn Phan's services are GREAT. She is so sweet, considerate, and professional. She actually listens and knows what you want. She really values what you want and yet puts in her best and honest opinion. During our brief consultation after I sat down on her chair, it felt like she was reading my mind. One thing she does that's great is she'll write down the price of each service ($50 haircut, $65 toner refresh) before starting so there aren't any surprises at the end. I went in for a haircut and toner refresh, I believe the entire process took 1.5-2 hours. Lynn is so good at what she does. She really puts her whole undivided attention to you and your hair. I felt so pampered by her! After she was done with me, I felt like a new person. I LOVED my hair. My hair felt so much healthier and I left so happy. Best color I've ever gotten in a while! I kind of want to keep her a secret because she is so great! Tip: She's usually booked out a month! So book in advance! read more

Book with Lynn for your hair. Call or text her cell 310-401-4706 to book your appointment, she is an independent stylist. I love Lynn's attention to detail. I've never seen a hair stylist so patient and doesn't rush the work. I've seen stylists try to squeeze in clients and work on multiple clients at once so they can get the most clients in their day...but I haven't encountered that problem with Lynn. She's so into her work and I love that about her. She is so accommodating, she came in on her day off (my last visit) when I told her it was my only day off work... and today, she took her time and was working on me the whole time for 4 freaken hours! I've never seen anyone so patient and hardworking, i appreciate that so much!!! And not only that, she stayed after closing, curled my hair...even though I wasn't going anywhere...LOL....n picture I post doesn't do justice...:) She's amazing. Thanks, Lynn! read more

I had previously tried to get an ombré done by a stylist out in Rowland. Instead of doing what I asked, she put big chunky yellow highlights all over my hair. After saving up money, and doing my research, I came across Lynn on yelp. My first time in, she toned my hair and dyed it the same color. Even though I wanted my hair to have more contrast (aka more blonde) she didn't want to ruin my hair and she recommended that I wait (which I appreciate!!!). Finally, after excessive deep conditioning and not styling my hair for two months I came back to redo my color. Lynn was precise and has a keen eye for detail. She did an amazing job (picture uploaded). I definitely recommended saving up your money and visiting Lynn! You will no be disappointed :) read more

Im over 30 years old and yet to find a hair stylist that I really enjoy but Lynn may just be the one. Since having my daughter late last year I haven't really paid much attention to my hair. It had gotten long and looked so dried out. I had an open morning to give myself some TLC but I needed some place open early enough. A quick search on yelp and I found Lynn. I saw pretty good reviews and decided to give it a try. I called her and she answered right away and I was able to get an appointment first thing the next morning. Lynn is super sweet and was able to give me a great haircut at a reasonable price and she didn't try to sell me anything. She answered my questions and was able to breath some life back into my hair with a quick wash, cut and style. She even taught me how to get some volume into my thin flat Asian hair without trying to get me to buy a product but just telling me what to use and what to do. Great experience. Easy to make appointments by call or text or on her website. Definitely will consider going back again! Wish I had taken photos but had tired mom brain! :) definitely recommend you give her a try. read more

I have been going to Lynn for the last 3(!?) years, possibly even longer. Before going to Lynn I've been a regular with other hairstylists, but they usually grow complacent and stop trying after a couple of times, but Lynn has been consistent since the first cut. Aside from her likable personality, she's prompt, efficient, skillful, and very experienced. I feel safe with her working on my hair.  General tip for everyone, come with a well thought out idea/ picture of how you want your hair to look and she will provide feedback on what may work better on you. Yay! Satisfied haircuts for all!  *** HELPFUL TIPS *** 1) It seems like she's booked almost all the time during popular holidays and the weekends, so be sure to make an early appointment!  2) Texting is best if you want a quick response! (310) 401-4706 3) Don't let the 310 area code scare you off, she works about 5-10 minutes away from Westfield Santa Anita inside Salon De Jeunesse. read more

Lynn is an exceptional stylist. She is very attentive to detail and truly makes an effort to understand exactly what you are looking for. She is focused, professional, and great at what she does! She caters to what looks best on each individual, not just what is trending, and I love that about her. Highly recommend. I went in for a balayage ombre on my first session and it came out great. I decided a couple months later to go lighter on my front pieces. I requested "partial highlights" when booking an appointment with her on styleseat.com. When I went in, she advised me that it would be better to lighten both front and back to blend it nicely, and I'm so glad that she did. I am very pleased with the way it turned out! She has great judgement and wants to make sure you love how you look! read more

Moving to a different city I no longer had my hair stylist near by for touch ups. I came across Lynn Phan who seemed to have very good reviews. I contacted her via the number provided giving her some pictures of my hair and explaining what I wanted done. She gave me an estimated price and scheduled an appointment for me to come in. She was fully booked on the day I originally had time to come in so, she made arrangements for another day that would work for me. She gladly accepted to work on my hair at 6:45, right before she gets off, knowing that my appointment would take over an hour to complete. I got a root touch up on my bayalage colored hair and toned it. The process altogether took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. She stayed way over time to fit me in. Lynn definitely takes the time to get to know your hair for proper care without damage. She kindly explained what I should be doing to treat my hair and maintain the color. When finished, my hair not only looked fresh with new color but, it also looked a lot more healthy! I will most likely be coming back to Lynn to get my hair going for the Fall season. read more

I got my hair cut and blow dried by Lynn this past Friday and I have to say I definitely found my new hair stylist! I moved back to Pasadena approx. 3 months ago and was in bad need of a haircut. This Friday happened to be the Fourth of July, and because I had off I decided to try to take advantage and get my hair did. Of course, no places in Pasadena were open for the holiday. However, I happened to be on my way to Monrovia so decided to try to find a hair salon along the way. Lynn said she could take me that day in a couple of hours, so I was already impressed :-) When I got to the salon and met Lynn, she was super sweet and kind and gave me her price upfront (and also explained the basis for the price). She then gave me the best head and neck massage while shampooing, and gave me exactly the haircut I was looking for (she kept my LENGTH!! While keeping it nice and healthy!!!!). We talked a little bit, but nothing forced and it was really peaceful. She also has great hair herself, and it always makes me feel better when the person cutting your hair has great hair. Overall Lynn was A++ and I would definitely recommend her to a friend. read more

I had a negative experience with Lynn. She completely misunderstood what hair color I wanted despite showing her photos. I had to spend a lot of money on color correction. I felt like dying my hair out of boredom and Lynn was able to fit me in the next say. It is super easy to set up an appointment with her. Just text her and she responds promptly. Her location is in a nice, clean, big salon where you don't have to worry about smelling all the chemicals one may expect in a smaller salon. There is ample parking in the back for customers, even though it may say "employees only." The cost on her website was pretty similar to what I was quoted in person. While she accepts credit, please try to help her out by paying with cash or venmo. She was very easy to talk to and that helped the 3 hours on my butt go by. I definitely recommend Lynn! read more

Lynn is amazing! When I thought about getting my hair colored my biggest fear and worst nightmare was having a stylist mess up my long, black, Asian hair. Lynn surpassed and blew me away with her skills and attention to detail! I found Lynn through yelp and instagram. I went in for a consultation and brought in a few pictures and told her what I wanted. She gave me some suggestions and I felt comfortable with her so I decided to book her. One thing I loved while looking through her photos was her blending technique. The first thing I told her on the day of my appointment was that I am picky about my ombre balayage blending well throughout. She gave no hesitation and in full confidence executing my vision. She even gave my hair a nice layered trim. A day after my treatment and I'm receiving comments about the beautiful color and hair cut! I would recommend going to Lynn for future coloring and style if you are looking for someone! Hair by Lynn Phan - A before and after of my hair by Lynn! I got this from her instagram account - Hair Stylists Near Me - Arcadia, California

Got a haircut by Lynn this past weekend and am so completely happy that I found her! I've been growing my hair out for the past three years and had Lynn cut off 10 inches for a long inverted bob. Although the initial cut was great, I didn't realize how much work blowing out a bob would be, so a few days later I went back and asked her to help me figure out a way to make the cut a little easier to take care of. My hair is really thick and I basically have zero hair maintenance skills (didn't even have a blowdryer until the day after this haircut)--Lynn was super patient throughout the whole process and spent an hour thinning out my hair so that it's at a point where I can manage it. A lot of stylists don't take the time to really make sure you love the haircut, especially at a follow-up appointment, but Lynn really knows and cares about what she's doing. She focuses on her work and doesn't spend the entire time chatting with you (bonus). She worked around my schedule and just seems like an overall wonderful person. I've already made another appointment with her! Thank you, Lynn!!!!! read more

My girl called Lynn after getting the run around and brush off from a local salon here in Monrovia. She is SO glad she did. Lynn, unlike the other salon wouldn't give her an estimate based on pictures. She stated she needed to see the damage and access the color correction in person before she could give a price. Not only did Lynn call back when she said she would, she also did exactly what she said she would with the first visit. She also texted my girl when an appointment canceled so Lynn could see her earlier, now that's someone who wants the business. Lynn did a phenomenal job with the Balayage Ombre my girl wanted and was able to match her natural hair color. A feat no one has been able to do in many many years. Lynn trimmed and did a basic style as well and wow did it turn out great. My girl was absolutely ecstatic and talked about how great it was for two days after. Needless to say I think we've finally found the right person. Lynn's prices were great given the service and she is a terrific person to do business with. I'd highly recommend her to anyone for any service Lynn can provide. read more

I came to Lynn for a cut after reading the great reviews on Yelp. I've been looking for a local stylist and I'm so glad I found her! She is very professional, kind, and listens to what you want. I have really thick hair so it was nice that she was very patient and took her time with me. (You'll be surprised how frustrated some stylists can get with my hair.) $55 came with a wash, cut and blowout. I can't wait come back to for a color sesh! Been having my dyed by Lynn for the ~ last 2 years. I'd say she does a great job at balayage with cooler lighter tones which you can see from the many photos on yelp. I started coming to Salon Viva because of Lynn Phan. She has recently relocated there, having formerly worked at Pecha Hair Salon (which closed due to illness). Lynn is fantastic! I've been going to her for seven years now -- I mean, my gosh, the woman has watched me go gray! I moved to the valley a couple of years ago and tried finding someone to cut my hair up there, but just couldn't find anyone as good as Lynn. I now drive 45 minutes for her expertise! Time after time she has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Once she met me at the salon at 7:00 in the morning to do my hair for an early photo shoot! And once she met me in a pinch when her husband had just come home from the hospital. Yes, if I had known I would have told her not to come, but I want you to see what a sweetheart she is. I don't recommend coming to Lynn for a balayage. Those Yelp pics had me fooled! My results were first invisible and she told me that after a few washes, the highlights and colors would be more visible. Well she's right-now there are brassy looking small strips dispersed throughout my hair, really not cute or pretty. It was my first time getting a balayage and from everything I heard about it, I knew it would take a long time at the salon. But she competed the entire process in about two and a half hours, which by all accounts isn't right. I'm honestly not sure what she did wrong but I know it took too little time. Also, I know my hair doesn't look good right now. There are small, thin streaks of bleached hair which looks super brassy. So, sigh. It's ok, it's just hair. I'll just have to find someone else to correct the colors. It was my first time going to Lynn and also my last. read more

Lynn's 10+ years experiences on Coloring + Cutting and good customer service really won my trust in a hair stylist!! Before I let Lynn to take care of my hair, I had trusting issues on the most of the hair stylist in the State. They either cut the hair with too many layers, or too boring. I came cross from my bridal make up artist recommend Lynn in Embellish First Ave Salon. The first time I met her, she took her time consulting with me about the color and style that I can try. I was really scared when she suggested me to dye the color I have never tried before (red brown not usually fits for Asian skin...). But The result turned out so well! And I got so many complaints on my wedding day about how the color made me stood out from the pictures! Lynn's strength is on coloring and cutting base on each client's hair quality, skin tone, and personality!! After couple consultants and services, she really won my trust and actually went back 3 times after my wedding!! She was very detailed and like to communicate with each of client's request while suggesting the style and color base on her professional experiences! The process is very long, took me from 11-3:30 to finish the whole process (no cut, just color) but I'm really happy w the results. In the past when I've gone to other stylists, I would tell them what I want w my color but the results wouldn't really match up to what I had imagined but Lynn really made it happen and I left w exactly what I wanted! :)))) I'll definitely be back to tone and cut, and prob a Brazilian blowout :))) Thanks so much Lynn :))))) read more
