I'm a big fan of food in general, but I will admit that I do love my steak. Also, I'm surrounded by carnivores who enjoy it way more than I do, so relative to me, they are connoisseurs, constantly on the quest for the best steak in town.
Now, according to them, Hai Chix & Steaks has one of the best steaks in town. Why? First of all, for the sheer size of it. Depending on the size that you ask for, it is possible for your steak to come in with its ends spilling over the edge of your plate. And it is a handsome piece of meat.
Secondly, it is cooked to perfection. Nicely charred on the outside, and pink and tender on the inside. As a bonus: they remove any excess fat from the steak, cut it up to tiny pieces, fry them up until they are crunchy, and sprinkle them over your slab. Hmm.
The other half of its namesake, the Hainanese Chicken, is equally delightful. It comes with three dipping sauces, all tasty.
For a hole-in-the-wall located in the darkest recesses of the Ortigas Home Depot, Hai Chix & Steaks has stood its ground. Everything else on the menu may be a tad overpriced, but I don't go there for everything else; I go for the steak. read more
