This was our go to place for lunch and dinner while vacationing in Manila. We love everything. Especially the dishes made with coconut milk. They were super delicious. We need to go back some more to try their other dishes instead of sticking with the ones we have been familiar with. No wonder this place was always crowded. I can't remember why I wanted to try this place. However, it's near Discovery Primea Hotel, which is where we stayed. Upon entering, two 'guards' were at the door. We had to flag someone to have our orders taken. The staff were either talking to each other by the front door or by the baarea. We ordered: Pinakbet, which was really good. Bangus in Yellow Bean Sauce. Just OK. Didn't taste deep fried at all. Not even crispy. Crab Omelette. I like this one. Went well with Pinakbet. Turon Kanin Club. They should just stick with plain bananas. The whole stuffing combination doesn't work. When the food was delivered, the server didn't even acknowledge us or tell us to enjoy our meal. To get our bill, we had to wave at the server who was all the way at the back. Very disappointed at the staff. Some of the food was very good. But, I can not recommend a place who treats their guests in such a way. There are many other great Filipino restaurants with much friendlier staff, such as Manam. read more

If you want very good Filipino food, you MUST eat at Kanin Club! Before anything else, you'll feel very at home here because of the Pinoy-themed decor: wood furnishings, colored stained glass, and Pinoy folk songs in the background. I also prefer this branch because it's conveniently located in Ayala Triangle. Kanin means "Rice". Since it's the "Rice Club", all the dishes they serve goes very well with rice! :) These are my favorites: Crispy Dinuguan (Fried Pork with in a Stew of Pork Blood, Php290, 6.22USD), Laing (Taro leaves simmered in coconut milk, flavored with pork, dried fish & chilis, Php190, 4.08USD), Crispy Tadyang (Crunchy Beef Spareribs with 3 dipping sauces, Php345, 7.40USD). Pair them all with a bowl of Aligue Rice (Fried Rice sautéed in Crab Fat, Php165, 3.54USD)!!! Crab Fat is sooo sinfully delicious. If I could, I would just eat it alone but, my poor heart. :P To wash everything down, try their Sago-Gulaman (Php115, 2.47USD). Kanin Club's customers are almost, always BIG families! So, expect loud laughter and lots of story-telling to go with the instrumental background music with your meal. It's a happy food place, so very Pinoy! :) read more

The crispy dinuguan here is legit. Apparently it's a best-seller. The binagoongan rice is also flavorful with tiny slivers of green mango. We also had the lemon chicken and paksiw na boneless bangus (milkfish simmered in vinegar- but I think they used green mangoes for the flavor instead) which were ok too. The decor here is Filipiniana which I like. Service was good and we didn't have to wait a while for the food to come out. read more

When it comes to Filipino food, Kanin Club is consistently at the top of my list. I like bringing tourists or balikbayan friends there because this restaurant is always ready to impress. That one night for instance, when I was with some of my balikbayan friends, and their only request was to eat in the finest Filipino restaurants in Manila. So we went to their branch in Ayala Triangle. It was a Tuesday night, and as expected, the place was packed so we had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated. Thank goodness the service was quick (as we were starving) and our food was ready a few minutes after we settled into our seats. The food was nothing short of amazing, and it took only three dishes to do the job: the Crispy Dinuguan wins over any non-Dinuguan eater every time. And their Seafood Kare-kare sets the standard for any restaurant Kare-kare dish for me (this remains in the top spot). For dessert, everybody loves their Turon KC ala Mode. I used to always go for their "All You Kanin" (unlimited rice), but since I'm trying to change my eating habits, I skipped that and was thrilled to find out that they also serve brown rice. Excellent service. Quick and attentive. Since I am more a vegetarian, I consider the Best dishes on the vegetable side - the Sigarilyas, the Patola and the Green mango fresh raw salad. The Crispy Dinuguan is fine. The crispy pata was not really crispy but hefty in serving quantity. The Bangus in Miso is fantastic. Kare-Kare and Tinapa rice are so-so. Overall nice experience especially with the simple Filipiniana themed decor and great Piped-in Filipino music. read more

A big thank you to Joey for introducing this place! A first timer in Philippines, and I had to try Filipino food. Very lucky to be accompanied by 2 great hosts who introduced the best dishes at this restaurant. Arriving around 8 in the evening, the place was filled but we didn't wait long for our place. Place may be packed but service at the restaurant was good. I like the interior of the restaurant, certainly has charming to it. I left the ordering part to the hosts and the food came quicker than I expected! Ordering the Karin Club Beer, we enjoyed the Green Mango Salad, Crispy Dinuguan, Fried Tilapia, fried rice and Bistek Tagalog. For 3 of us, the food portion is just right I feel and I enjoyed every one of them though it took a while for me to get used to Crispy Dinuguan. Washing it down with San Miguel's Pale Pilsen made my stomach very happy! Atmosphere of the restaurant is lively with many families over there to enjoy the good food. But chatting with my hosts was not a problem, we were able to communicate without the need of raising our voices, that's the important thing. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner with my hosts and will definitely come back the next time I return to Manila! read more

I've never really paid much attention to this place, as it always seemed to me that this might be yet another one of those Filipino restaurants that's all heavy on the meat, fat, salt and oil, thus being unforgiving to vegans and vegetarians such as myself. I'm glad I was proven wrong, because their menu actually has a "Vegetables" section, which is quite rare for places that are named in the same manner as Kanin Club. I'm being mean, but their name makes me think of a fastfood place with unli rice or something. But this place is actually quite nice! As it has already been mentioned here, it's somewhere you can bring balikbayans or foreign friends to. The stars of the vegetable persuasion here are their Vegetarian Delight Platter (great choice for sharing) and their Vegetarian Curry (rich and tasty!). Though I did also get their Patola in Olive Oil because of its intriguing description on their menu that said that "You'd never thought patola could be this good". I've always had neutral feelings about patola, and I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, this patola dish just didn't..... NOPE. It was quite sad and bland (reminiscent of hospital food, sorry!). Except for that dish, I enjoyed the other 2 that I have tried so far. If you're vegan/vegetarian, their salads and appetizers seem to have potential veganizable options. read more

What started out as a popular pitstop for people going up to Tagaytay is now a regular haunt for city dwellers who are looking for a place that serves modern Filipino Food! One of the relatively new city branches is this one in Ayala Triangle - decorated in with a Spanish Era feel this place is definitely homey! The dish that put them on the map is their Crispy Dinuguaan - a modern take on the Filipino Pig's Blood Stew. Their version uses twice fried pork as the protein in their pig's blood based stew! My other personal favorites are: Aligue Fried Rice (Crab Fat Fried Rice); Binukadkad na Tilapia (Deep Fried Fish); Ensaladang Mangga w/ Salted Egg (Green Mango w/ Salted Egg Salad) Will we be coming back: Yes, but not too often! I visit the Philippines often and I just love Kanin Club (Alabang & Ayala Triangle) I always tell my friends who are visiting Manila to make sure to try Kanin Club.Good quality and flavorful food.I love how they make their garlic rice,pork bbq,sisig,Crispy dinuguan,Kaldereta Nueva and more.The Star of this restaurant by far is the Crispy dinuguan.The dinuguan is both sour,creamy and salty with crispy pork belly in the mix.The only thing is the wait.Be prepared to wait (more than an hour) during peak hours since people even after the meal is done would often just hangout.I found hair in my Garlic fried rice once but I just shrugged it off.I would totally give it 5 stars if they paid close attention to their restroom.The last few times I went,the restroom was dirty and stinky.I felt bad for the diners near the restroom.Thats what I noticed in the restaurants in Manila they need to pay more attention to their restrooms.Anyway,food is good! Kanin Club is one of those modern Filipino restaurants that you simply must try. I've tried it on a date with my husband and again with balikbayan friends and on both occasions, I'd say it was a hit. I'm not a big fan of Filipino food (except for anything with bagnet) and was pleasantly surprised with their take on popular dishes. I super love their Sinangag na Sinigang. This tongue-twister of a dish is inspired by the Filipino sour soup. It has pork liempo (thus my fondess for it) and vegetable tempura and the hint of sourness in the rice itself. It's like eating a dry version of sinigang...very surreal. Eat it by itself, it's more than enough to satisfy your Pinoy food cravings. Other must-try dishes include Crispy Dinuguan (which is so good it is being copied by other restaurants) and the very rich peanut sauce dish of Kare-kare. Try this with plain rice so you fully appreciate the flavor of both dishes. read more

Crispy Dinuguan, Seafood Kare Kare, Lots of Rice, Two Helpings of Green Mango Shake = a very full, happy, table. Pricy (what else would you expect from this part of town). Their take on Filipino food is thoroughly respectful, never losing sight of the core that made any given dish a national classic. They do, however, pepper in a slight subversive note that forces you to pay attention to each bite. Take the Crispy Dinuguan, which is bathed in your standard issue A+ blood stew, but whose meat has been pre-fried to an unexpected crisp. I know it's in the dish's name, but the slight tweak makes such a familiar dish uncanny that it made me truly pay attention to the food. Perhaps I'm exaggerating. Given this was my first proper FIlipino meal after having been away from the country for 10 years, it is very likely. Nevertheless, the meal was one I fully enjoyed and was the perfect welcome note to my return trip. P.S. I don't know if the Green Mango Shake is a recent innovation, but I certainly have no memories of it from the first 14 years of my life spent locally. This was the meal's true revelation. I don't normally like going out and spending money on Filipino restaurants (homemade is best) but this place along with Wooden Spoon are my exceptions. Here they really know how to elevate Filipino cuisine unpretentiously and use simple yet effective techniques to make their traditional dishes stand out above the crowd. I don't normally eat dinuguan but their crispy dinuguan here is amazing. I think it's served with fried pork. Their sinangag na sinigang is also really good and I highly recommend that. In fact, I think those two dishes are their most popular ones. Pricewise you won't be spending too much here. I think P300-P500 is a fair range. You can sit inside or outside in the al fresco area. The location is nice because it's in the Ayala Triangle Park - lots of greenery around. read more

Kanin Club takes comfort food to a level that goes where no other establishment has gone. Case in point: Crispy Dinuguan. A traditional Filipino dish seen on every Filipino menu and often cooked at home, dinuguan is that crazy black concoction made of pork, vinegar, and pig's blood. While the combination of ingredients is enough to make anyone unfamiliar with the dish's skin crawl, local foodies will be delighted to know that here it's served with (what I'd like to think is) crispy pata. Yes, fried pork swimming in the signature dinuguan sauce--it doesn't get any better than that. But while blood pressures may rise, it's just comforting to know that there are people willing to go leaps and bounds crazy just to serve Filipino food in unique ways, and I think Kanin Club is doing an excellent job at that. read more

This place is definitely perfect for big groups! They have big servings and what really sets them apart from other Filipino restaurants are their very unique takes on the typical Filipino dishes. One of which is the crispy dinuguan! Oh my god, just thinking about it is already making my heart jump! I did try it and it was so delicious! It's simply pure sinful goodness! Apart from that, I also especially like their crispy tadyang and kare-kare! It's always a feast whenever we eat here! I am the type of person who is not so big on rice, but whenever we eat here, it is absolutely impossible not to have more than one cup! Go here to indulge! Go here to celebrate! Another thing which I especially appreciate are the interiors, it totally reminds me of colonial era Spain or more like, the houses of our grand parents.
