    Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf
    Patrick U.

FOOD Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf was very sticky, filling and umami. Pork Dumpling with Shrimp is one of our favorite dim sum so we ordered this one again; always succeeds to please our taste buds, especially with soy sauce. Baked Bun with BBQ Pork was the best part, and once again, this order is almost perfect attendance on our tables. The coating packed a soft crunch and smelled super good as I smelled the hot BBQ Pork filling inside. SERVICE Taking note of our orders, serving the food, and delivering the receipt and change were done fairly quick.

Just the pork bun and hakaw for me please. Not really much of a dim sum fan. This place is OK. My mom loves dim sum and she didn't enjoy this place. Dim sum places in Canada are way better and more like the real dim sum in Hong Kong she says. Sometimes it has a line to go in so try to plan ahead if you want to eat here. At least its cheap and Michelin star. So it's nice to check off your list of places you've eaten.

Definitely a dimsum go-to place! The price range isn't something to be worried about because it is definitely affordable for a Michelin star restaurant. Their Bbq pork buns -- definitely recommended as this is what Tim Ho Wan is known for. Their vermicelli rolls menu are a must try as well! When it comes to their rice toppings though, I would suggest to opt for another place because it's just so-so. But considering that I've been to this place lots of times and got to experience it in Hong Kong as well, I can say that their buns are quite different. Here, it has more sauce and is much sweeter as compared to the ones in HK which have less sauce and is packed with more Char Siew. I'm not sure if there are still lines being held because I usually make it a point to visit the place at dead times (before and after peak hours) which is before lunch, after lunch, before dinner, and after dinner times. This place definitely earns my 3.5 (but there's no .5 so... I'm going with 4) stars because of the affordable price, the Michelin star value, and most especially, the Pork buns!! Thus, living up to their name as the world's cheapest Michelin star restaurant.

In addition to Din Tai Fung, Tim Ho Wan is my favorite Asian chain "go-to lunch spot" in Manila. I've tried many a dim sum but Tim Ho Wan is QUALITY. Yes, it's a chain but that doesn't make their food any less delicious. What I've noticed about dim sums is some places tend to be complacent about their food. It almost feels as if once you've been to one dim sum, you've been to them all. What I love about Tim Ho Wan is the variety they have to offer in their dishes and how they're prepared. It isn't like any ordinary dim sum. You sit down and order, rather than the food carts coming to you. For some, it may take away from the whole authentic "dim sum" experience but the food completely justifies what you pay for. Side note: I'd like to add though, their neon green stool chairs are a bit small so all the big booty people (such as myself) can feel me on sometimes feeling awkward sitting on them, haha. Bless you if you have a booth seat. Prices are normally what you'd expect to pay at dim sums; nothing completely outrageous. For two people, I usually expect to pay between P1000 and P1500, which is plenty of servings. My personal favorites are the iconic pork buns, the spring rolls with egg whites and the wasabi salad prawns. These NEVER disappoint me. P.S. If you're into iced tea, Tim Ho Wan actually makes their own brew. As in, legit house brew. You can tell it isn't some cheap store bought packets being brewed in some dispenser.

Food was delicious! Wanted to try this place in makati and we made our way here using Grab. The congee has salted duck egg inside so no soy sauce was needed. Dim sum was tasty and didn't lack any flavor. Will visit again next time I'm in Makati

When they announced that Tim Ho Wan would open in Manila, I can't tell you how excited I was! I tried their Pork Buns because my friend brought home some for me from HK. I made sure to try the buns, they were good but they were a bit sweeter than what I remember. :( BUT, I would recommend the Vermicelli Roll with Sweet & Sesame Sauce and Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumpling. Each costs Php140 (3USD). :)

Playing Tic Tac Toe with pork buns!

There are certain places that you go to and know exactly what you're going to order, Tim Ho Wan is without a doubt one of those places. It's all about the pork buns baby!!! When I first tried them it was literally a WOW moment! Like with one bite you completely understand what all the hype was about! The outer shell is perfectly doughy and crunchy at the same time, and when you taste the oh so yummy filling in the middle, it's just a party of flavor in your mouth. Just so yuuuummmm! Guaranteed every table will have an order of pork buns on them! The pork buns have literally become the only thing I order when I go here. I've tried the other items in the menu, but nothing comes even close to how yummy the pork buns are. With it being as popular as it is the lines can be intimidatingly long, but the turn over is so quick that I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a table. If you really can't wait and don't mind eating on the go, they do have a separate line for take-out orders that gets you your pork buns fix real fast!

*sings* reunited and it tastes so goooood

I like to think of Hong Kong as my second home (I even memorize their MTR system), so I was ecstatic to finally be reunited with one of the things I've missed the most from there. Granted, I didn't have to stand in line for two hours at the original, but at least I wouldn't have to take a plane ride anymore just to experience Michelin-star dining. Of course, I don't need to remind you to get those perfect baked buns - crumbly golden brown pastry with warm saucy barbecue pork bursting inside. It's not the first of their Big 4 Heavenly Kings for nothing! That's obviously not the only reason to come here though; the pork dumplings with shrimp (they're the Dim Sum Specialists after all), century egg congee, and steamed egg cake (another King) are must-tries you shouldn't miss. Service was amazing as well - each waiter is focused on maybe three tables tops, so you feel well taken care of over the course of your meal. If a restaurant was the epitome of "worth the wait," it's this hands down. Don't want none unless you got Tim Ho Wan, hun.

We patronized the place in order to take advantage of their Feast All You Can promo which, for less than six hundred pesos, allows you to order one House Specialty and as much as you want of most everything else on the menu. Now, it bears mentioning that I'm not exactly a fan of buffets--often, ninety percent of what's laid out is a half-baked concoction of chefs that don't exactly have the time to develop and focus on every single dish they have to pop out come the dinner rush, and not everything is worth the calories--and while the food at Lugang isn't really served buffet style, I was hesitant. I was willing to try it though because I figured if I was ordering from the menu anyway, then those dishes probably did go through better development procedures than buffet food. For my House Specialty dish, I ordered their crispy fried chicken (but only because everyone else at my table had already ordered their Hainan chicken). The chicken that they set down in front of me was a healthy brown color (very promising), and the skin definitely looked crispy. It tasted pretty good, too! I was happily surprised that they did not commit the fried chicken sin of uneven cooking and underseasoning. The rest of what I ate was mostly their Xiao Long Bao. There were other dishes on our table, but I couldn't stop eating the Xiao Long Bao. It was THAT GOOD. I liked that the wrapper wasn't fragile (like in other places), so the soup wouldn't pour out at the slightest touch of your chopsticks. Another homerun was their mango dessert thing. They serve it with ice cream and shaved ice, and it's a simple-looking bowl of yellow stuff, but it was surprisingly REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD. I'm a chocolate-is-the-only-real-dessert kind of gal, but let me tell you, they must lace their mangoes with some sort of aphrodisiac because everyone at our table loved it! So much so that we ordered several more bowls to share. I was surprised to find how much I loved Lugang Cafe. For a while now, I've been too suspicious of it to patronize it, but now I think of it as a go-to for indecisive and hungry moments.
