Just a few years ago I had lived in Beijing, China to learn Mandarin. After my stint there, I've had my fair share of cravings for Chinese food from the mainland. People don't normally like the food in mainland china because they are more accustomed to the more famous dishes from Hong Kong and the southern provinces of China.
Chairman Wang's will change how you think of food from the mainland. The place is authentic and delicious. From the food served, to the chairs and tables, and the ambiance. They have hand-pulled noodles and dumplings just like the ones served in the mainland for you to slurp away and stuff your faces with. The broth for their beef noodles is quite thick so it's almost like a Chinese ramen. They have some everyday dishes in China like the xihongshichaodan (tomato and egg) which I really like. I know it (the tomato and egg dish) sounds ordinary and plain but there's just something with the way the Chinese cook it. It tastes better than it sounds.
There's certainly a lot more dishes here that I haven't mentioned yet but I'll tell you that Chairman Wang's is worth the visit. I usually get the dry hand pulled noodles with minced eggplant, prime beef noodle soup, some steamed and fried dumplings, tomato and egg, century egg, and a carafe of the drink with crysanthemum in it. For those that are still unsure about Chinese dishes from the mainland, they also serve your usual fare of siomai, sweet and sour pork, and other southern Chinese cuisine. I'll be hitting this spot more often for Chinese food. It's everything I could ask for when I want some Chinese food. read more
