Nachos
Serli N.

Love this place! My fav is the nachos with steak (I love that they have a half-nacho option too). The tacos I've tried have all been great and my daughter loves the quesadilla. If you're in the mood for dessert, the churros are a nice treat. I love that they use organic ingredients, grass fed beef/wild caught fish, and no seed oils! I believe they fry with avocado oil. Service is generally good and quick, but we have waited up to 45 min before during a busy weekend visit. They're dog friendly (big patio dining area), and also have lots of fun activities for kids to help keep them entertained (coloring pages with crayons, games, animal figurines). Highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for Mexican food!

Love Haggo's! This is a neighborhood staple. The portion sizes are always generous. You leave feeling great as for the most part it is pretty healthy. Love the casual vibe

Vegan Sweet Potato with vegan cheddar

Vegan cardio heart healthy menu options! I like this place for its "all fresh organic and healthy" commitment. There are 2-3 vegan Taco options, including ones with sweet potato and mushroom. The 3rd option, a garden veggie with red beans, has sharp cheddar you just have to request a substitute the vegan cheddar. I tried two, both good, especially with a slice of avocado on top. The "Immortal" Mushroom grilled onion was fine as is, a good balance of flavors. I am not a fan of the pico de gallo "salsa cruda" on the 2nd taco, the sweet potato "Veronica" vegan taco as it was too spicy and overpowering for my sensitive palate. My original inclination was to order it without pico de gallo and cilantro, don't like either, but decided to try it as listed on the menu. I should've gone with my instinct and next time I will definitely order it without to enjoy it more. The kitchen is very flexible, willing to change menu items up to taste, substitutions and omissions welcome which means it's all made to order (vs pre-made). My fellow diners ordered the "Garden Vegetables taco" and said it was pretty good with it's zucchini and slightly salty red beans, and our third diner (a 50+ year SoCal burrito expert) tried a health-sized red bean and rice vegetarian burrito oozing with melted cheese and said "it was pretty good", so big he rewrapped the last half and took it to go. All the tacos are served soft-style corn tortillas, finger food, a little messy as things fall out but that's standard for taco. For salsa lovers, you'll be happy when they bring out the complimentary four bottles of fresh salsa, 1 mild red, 2 spicy reds and 1 green to kick up your meal a degree or three. No chance of bland or too mild food with these jugs of flavor additions available. The chips were just ok, standard; I was expecting more as the nachos came highly recommended. They were fresh: crunchy and low salt, but fried with avocado oil. I'd swap for air fryer corn tortillas, no salt, to make them even healthier like our home made ones. We didn't order them as we were they specifically for tacos, but the table next to us did. They were piled high with toppings, looked healthy (compared to heavy cheese doused stadium nachos) and smelled good. We went on a Sunday a bit after 12 noon, it was extremely busy with a line to order and all the tables (90% outdoors, only 2 inside) were full, it let up a little bit closer to 1 PM but still busy. Street parking available was a bit of a challenge. Dog friendly release a half a dozen people with dogs there. If you like local places on Highway 101 close to the beach, casual and friendly, this place fits. Nice staff took the time to answer my many questions about vegan and menu options.. They also have micro beers, but we aren't beer drinkers so we passed. It'd be nice if they had some other home brewed beverage option like root beer or non-carbonated lemonade, especially considering it's June middle of summer, but didn't see anything like that on menu. We like this place overall it's pretty good, (we prefer my homemade ones better) but still worth returning to. To improve maybe add guacamole (that I heard people at other tables raving about ) to the Vegan & Vegetarian tacos vs The fresh sliced avocado on top was nice, but it slid off, maybe the guac on top of the bottom filling would hold in the greens on top. I'd add a vegan protein like Tofu for a seasoned tofu crumble taco (which is a good substitute for ground meat), with black bean, roasted corn, diced tomatoes fresh chopped not spicy salsa. All in all a good meal, But I'd go back on a day it's less crowded for faster experience.

Veggie Breakfast burrito add pork
Anola S.

I reallllly wanted to love my burrito. I've been dying to come here forever and finally did for a breakfast burrito. Because the other breakfast burritos seemed lacking ingredients overall (like only eggs and pork for the pork burrito) I decided to order a Veggie Breakfast Burrito with no dairy and asked to add pork. Came out to over $20 bucks but that's what I expect for clean ingredients and to add meat! I always fear when ordering a veggie burrito that it's gonna be super greasy because sauteed veggies always seem to be that way (sadly) and I was right. This thick girl was insanely greasy and veggies were overcooked and overall lacked any sort of spices. With that being said, I LOVED the addition of gold potatoes, which added a touch of sweetness, and how much pork they gave me! On the OTHER hand, you'd get huge mouthfuls of just pork or just greasy veggies. I ended up picking out half the veg mix just cuz it didn't have much flavor. You can definitely tell the quality of ingredients, it just didn't hit like I wanted it to! Salsas were all delicious and sitting on the patio overlooking the 101 is gorgeous! Service was relatively slow considering there weren't many people here but I always expect slower service when I make substitutions to my order. I can't wait to come back and try more items because I know I'll love something else...just not so much this order!

Haggo's is a Leucadia staple and for good reason. Every time I drive by, the place is busy. I hadn't been back to Haggo's since it first opened years and years ago, so I stopped by on my lunch break and was not disappointed. The veggie burrito I got was one of the best burritos i've ever had - it had beans, cheese, rice, guac. Their spicy salsa is also to die for. Yes it might be a little more expensive than your average SD burrito, but making organic clean food that tastes phenomenal is well worth the price. I'll be dreaming of this burrito until I can have it next! Also, the restaurant is just such a vibe. You can't beat a coast highway location.

Haggo's Organic Taco is an organic Mexican restaurant. It is located just adjacent to Bump Coffee. We couldn't resist the aroma coming from their shop. The place was packed but clean and cozy. They have beach style interior decor. The staff were very nice. We got our order outside at one of Bump Coffee table since we ordered coffee Mojito from there. Their menu includes burritos, nachos, bowls salad plates, quesadillas, tacos , quinoa and more. They also have local craft beer. We got Shrimp burrito and came with tortilla chips. Their burrito was very juicy, tasty and flavorful. They brought four different condiments with our order. For sure, we will come back to try more of their delicious menu.

Steak and eggs plate
Jade Morgan M.

Haggos absolutely crushed it. Had the steak & eggs plate this weekend and it was unreal, insanely flavorful while still feeling super clean and healthy. Everything is organic, the beef is grass fed, and they cook with avocado oil instead of all the nasty seed oils you find everywhere else. You can genuinely taste the quality. I feel like people don't realize they do breakfast on weekends because honestly it's one of the most slept on breakfast spots around. The staff is incredibly friendly, the atmosphere is super welcoming, and the owners are some of the coolest people ever. They make you feel right at home the second you walk in. Amazing food, amazing people, amazing vibe. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Grilled fish burrito

Tasty and a bit on the healthier side. Burritos default on a whole grain tortilla. Only annoying thing is that everything is so watery and drips everywhere. Micheladas were delicious. Crowded, but with quick turnover, didn't take too long to get a table.

Michelada was freshly-made, spicy (at my request), and outstanding.

This place, located right on PCH, screams SoCal, and Encinitas, in particular. The people watching, even the car watching, is terrific. Be prepared to wait in a long line to order. You can blame Guy Fieri for that. Then be prepared to wait for your food. We waited about 30 minutes, which is exactly what the cashier warned us. The food is good. The presentation is top notch. The prices are high but you are paying for the high rent and high quality. I liked my shrimp taco. The pastor taco, with little chunks of pineapple, was probably a little better. The shrimp burrito was not huge but it was very nice. With the two taco combo, you get chips and red beans. The chips are very good. The beans are fantastic. Really. With my taco combo, they gave me about six chips. Is there a chip shortage? Come on, guys. The salsas, and there are four types in squeeze bottles, are pretty good. The spicy one should be spicier. They make an excellent, freshly-made Michelada here. It's excellent. I liked but didn't love the food. I loved my Michelada and the beans. I loved the people and car watching. There you go.

I love the casual, open-&-airy location, especially sitting along the outside counter facing the street -- for fresh air and lots of people-watching! In addition, I love that they offer self-serve chilled ice water (it's these seemingly small details that elevate my enjoyment and experience)! For this first visit, I ordered a la carte: Cousteau Fish taco ($6.95) and Baja Fish taco ($6.95)-- both tacos were generously stuffed with fresh-tasting and colorful ingredients; the Baja fish taco was generous in size and its puffy, crispy, and satisfyingly crunchy texture was unique compared to other fried fish tacos I'd had. While orders are placed at the counter, the food is delivered to your table. I liked the staff's positive energy! Great find (however, heads-up, only 1 restroom)!

Birria taco (left) Steak (right)
Hailey F.

Yall there is no need to get these tacos while in Southern California. There are better and cheaper options on every block. Don't be fooled because of how beautiful the tacos and employees are. The meat was dry and over cooked... even the Birria. The corn tortillas were hazardously thin, almost split on my pants. The tortillas had a nice chew.

Kevin N.

no complaints! great quality ingredients and you can taste/feel it. usually places that use clean & organic ingredients and skip on seed oils don't have the best flavor, but this place is always on point. can be a little pricy, but you pay for what you get given the quality. the staff is always super friendly too! great place to stop by if you're in Leucadia

Is there inside dining?

Hi there! We have both inside and outside dining. There are huge bay windows that open to Hwy 101 so the whole thing is pretty wide open.

Do they have gluten free tortillas?

Corn is gluten free.... ;) Corn and masa tortillas are naturally gluten free.

The parking lot has plentiful parking but was completely full as I was leaving around 12pm. There were tons of order pick-up spots and 20-minute max parking spots that help with the flow. The restaurant was impeccably clean with a growing line of lunch-goers. The workers were very efficient and the line moved quickly. I also noticed the apparent owner/manager talking to regulars and greeting customers as they walked in, which I really liked to see! I was served my order to-go in less than 10 minutes and ended up unexpectedly using the other 10 minutes after taking my first bite--after that it was hard to stop. The burrito was the perfect size (not too large and not too small). My original breakfast burrito was wrapped in a fresh hand-made tortilla filled with fluffy eggs, the perfect amount of bacon, cheese, soft fresh potatoes, topped with the avocado salsa verde which went perfectly with everything. I even ended up sipping the salsa (it was that good) between bites of the burrito. I was also blown away by the clean and fully stocked salsa bar. So many options (including non-spicy ones for those with gastric limitations too!) and they even offered radishes, carrots, and pickled onions individually wrapped with care. Everything tasted fresh and home-made. After 7 years being away from San Diego, Los Tacos delivered exactly what I had been missing. This location really blew me away and I will definitely be back to see what else it has to offer.

You HAVE to stop by and try their fish tacos for $3/taco on Tuesdays! Somehow they are SO fresh, even though they are battered. A battered fish taco that somehow is insanely delicious AND also tastes kinda healthy?? And they were sizable too -- I only needed 2 fish tacos to get full. I didn't know that existed, but now that I do, this will certainly be one of my go-to spots! My boyfriend also said their surf & turf burrito was the best he's ever had... and if all that isn't enough, to top it all off, the customer service + atmosphere is 5 stars as well! Pavlos himself is the SWEETEST man -- so down-to-earth, genuine, and super duper cool... and when we walked in, my first thought (spoken aloud) was, "Wow, this place is so CLEAN!" It contained crinkle-cut, Ore-Ida-style fries, a few decent shrimp, and dry carne asada. The pico de gallo had an overpowering flavor and a soggy texture. The burrito itself was large, and the toasted tortilla was one of the few positives. The fish tacos were equally disappointing. The tortillas were cold and rubbery, while the fish was this overly large, rectangular, store-bought frozen fillet rather than something freshly prepared. The rolled taco combo was arguably the worst item. They were extremely dry and topped with what tasted like processed, store-bought melted cheese. The avocado mash (not guac) was actually pretty good, which was one of the only highlights of the meal. The beans tasted like store bought, canned beans and the rice was okay. Most importantly for any taco shop, the red salsa was simply awful. The green salsa was decent, but the red salsa was honestly the worst I've ever tasted. The flavor reminded me of Ragu marinara sauce mixed with a dash of hot sauce...I kid you not! I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I hope ownership takes this feedback seriously and makes some changes. There is potential here, but the food quality and ingredient choices need significant improvement.
