My husband is originally from Joplin, so every time we go home to visit his family we always get Hackett's. Like ALWAYS! Their wings are AMAZING! Full of flavor and served with carrots and celery. Creamy ranch dressing (homemade) comes with it..yum! The wings are always cooked and seasoned perfectly. This is a must try if you live in Joplin or are just visiting. Hackett's Hot Wings have some of the best southern food anywhere. I love the cozy, warm and friendly atmosphere Floyd and Jackie have created. It brings a flair of the south to the midwest. The wings here are the best I have ever had, and there really isn't a close second. They are served fresh and warm, juicy and crispy. With many different sauces to choose from, there is something for everyone. They have sweet flavors; such as, Honey and Honey BBQ. They have spicy flavors anywhere from a little kick (Hot and Honey and Mild), to burn your face off (Smokin' Hot and Suicide). The great thing is all flavors have a great flavor. Nothing they make is, "burn for the sake of burn." My favorite is the "Hot and Honey." The most interesting thing about the wings is the Memphis style dry rubs. They have several flavors to choose from and are all great. My favorite is the "Greek." If you have never tried wings with a rub seasoning you are in for a treat. I am also recommend the Pork Chop Sandwich! It is an inch thick, juicy pork chop, seasoned as only Floyd Hackett can do. It is served on texas toast with lettuces and tomato. One of my favorite places in Joplin and one of the best hot wing experiences in the country! The big thing that sets them apart from competitors in my mind is the wing flavoring. While the other people at my table had very choice things to say about our dinner here, I very much enjoyed it. We were not even planning on coming here, and I think my fiances grandmother thought this was Buffalo Wild Wings when we started talking about it, but when we pulled in all comparisons were laid to rest. Instead of being bombarded by crazy jersey wearing men with beer breath (and farts), we were greeted with gas lanterns, exposed brick, and quiet seating. The menu is very simple (think Chicken), the options are easy to understand, and the prices seem very reasonable. We each got something different, and after ordering we went down and found a booth next to the windows to enjoy some conversation. A short (for me at least) while later they started bringing the food out to our table. At this point we noticed that there were roughly 20 people in line waiting for take out, to order, etc. We had no idea that this place was so popular until we dug in. The wings are AMAZING. They are perfectly seared on the outside and cooked just right, sauced with just the right amount, and are served up with your choice of veggies and ranch/bleu to dip. After cramming 10 of the biggest wings I've ever had in, I seriously could not eat anymore... I was in absolute wing heaven and will have to find a way to ship some of that Sweet/Hot Sauce back to Minnesota! Next time we are in Joplin we are absolutely coming back here! read more

This place is good at best. The flavor it's great but the wings are so small it hard to truly enjoy them unless you order a huge amount which just isn't worth the money. This is my favorite place for wings. I'm totally in love with the seasoned wings. Now, I love hot wings, and these are not hot at all. But they are freaking delicious. When I have to have some spice, I get the Beer flavored sauce. It's good too. If you like sweet tea...and like it really sweet, then this is your place. The hot wings are HOT! We ordered a BBQ and a Mild batch. The Mild had my husband and I both craving Milk to kill the burn in our mouths. Since when is Mild actually HOT? Not a fan of that! Their fried appetizers such as fries and corn fritters are so yummy! You can also order an array of beers too. The feel inside has a very urban feel with exposed brick walls and black ceiling. I came to Joplin to visit my sister, niece, and brother-in-law. We chose to eat out for only one meal and they had given me several options to choose from and I am VERY happy that I chose Hacketts I had been craving wings for a while and was really looking forward to it! We walked in and I loved the feel of the place. It was definitely small town and the employees at the walk up counter were helpful and kind. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner here last weekend. We ordered onion rings, traditional wings with a dry seasoning and a sauce & seasoned fries. The portion size of the onion rings & fries was huge and we loved the spicy ranch dipping sauce they came with. The wings were wonderful! So wonderful we talked about our dinner for the rest of the night and I recommended Hackett's to all my co-workers the next day! Our waiter was great and it's a very clean and friendly environment. Oh Hackett Hot wings, how I love thee so! I'm not even a big fan of chicken wings in general, but oh my gosh these wings are amazing! I prefer the dry rubs myself. The skin is just so crispy and delicious. I recommend trying the Jerk chicken (one of the dry rubs), it is by far my favorite. Very flavorful and kind of sweet as well. Greek is also another dry rub that is really good. If you prefer the wet saucy wings then try the honey, or if you want a little spice the hot and honey are good too. Season fries are yummy and the sweet tea is great (VERY sweet). They also have some other interesting sides that I want to try soon, like fried green beans. The atmosphere is awesome and I absolutely love the exposed brick and all the neat character that this place has! I HIGHLY recommend Hackett's to anyone and everyone. This is normally one of our favorite places to eat but since they expanded their space we have been unhappy with the service. I'm sure it's difficult to hire that many new employees and not have any issues but I'm really hoping they get everything lined out sooner rather than later. Last night's meal was good (not as good as usual) but service was HORRIBLE. The kid that seated us acted as if we were a big inconvenience and was not friendly. It took over 30 minutes to get a Bloody Mary. At one point the waitress stopped and apologized for the wait and said when it takes that long it's usually a "good one". When our food was brought out I asked if we could have some silverware. There were four people in our group and she brought out two plastic forks. Our waitress did eventually bring us some real silverware. All in all I think the kinks could be corrected with some additional training. read more

But everyone that I've taken's favorite, mine included, is dry rubbed seasoned. So crispy with just enough seasoning. Not spicy, just tasty. If we were to rate only on the food we would have given a 5 star rating. However today our overall experience was barely worth a 2 star. We waited for over an hour to get our food, which can seem like an eternity to 2 young kids who are hungry. The manager did attempt to make the situation better with a 15% discount.
