I have…read morehad to go to the hospital 3 times for emergency and the wait was less than 1/2 hour in all 3 cases. I was taken care of and the problem I had was taken care of by the doctors and nurses. The last few months I was at the hospital due to blocked arteries which caused me to have a triple bypass, heart shocked twice, an ablation, and finally a pacemaker implanted. After my bypass I ended up in the Cardiac Care Unit where I was taken care of by the most professional caring doctors and nurses. It was like my comfort and recovery were the most important task they had. It is no wonder that they and the doctors and nurses at the McKenzie Heart Group are a level 3 star for patient care and outcomes. My understanding is that is the highest level attainable and there are only 3 in all of Oregon. Two in Portland and one at McKenzie-Willamette hospital with the McKenzie Heart group. You couldn't do any better than them for your heart care especially if you need bypass surgery.

When i see people throwing the race card around i did not have any experience from the staff here i was here from Thursday 9/24 until 9/28, 2026 i felt absolutely cared for and respected!! Trust me i personally know what racism looks and feels like and i didnt have any of that the entire time i was there!! All the nurses and aides, respiratory therapists Robert & D dont wanna get his name wrong but he'll know it's him cuz I told him n I would call him that!! They were excellent at their jobs and I got my breathing g treatments every 4 hours!! Christine on Thursday was absolutely amazing and very sweet. Christine was one of the first people I met when I was rolled up to the 3rd floor. She was amazing before her shift was over clearly explained everything to me. How they were gonna make sure to help me get my breathing on track and I would be there all weekend!! I appreciated that because honestly I thought i was going to die!! To the all the people who helped me i cant thank you enough for your genuine caring and compassion. I feel grateful and want you all to know that u helped save my life!! With all the blood draws, and constant care I see how hard u all work and how busy u all are!! I especially want to thank the lady whose favorite color is orange of any shade!! I forgot her name but she was such a beautiful warm and friendly nurse. She had went to Greece with her husband for their 30 year anniversary. What a great lady .!! Amazing. So as u can tell i was in contact with a diverse group of caregivers and was well tooken care of. So was the lady I shared a room with . Anyway the weekend day I think NP was also amazing . She was great. For 4 days of great care I am breathing better and alive to talk about it!! THANK U ALL SO MUCH!!! Really quick like this isnt the only experience I've had here this is my go to hospital because it beats the alternative!! So please dont assume oh I've been here one time and dont know what im talking about. One more thing as we all know Dr's aren't passing out opiates and those type of pain pills like they used to, it is just the way it is these days. I am not implying that every one is drug seeking by any means but we all know they are out there. Laws have changed and no doctor wants to lose his career or license by passing out opiates like candy!! Times have changed . Rules and laws have to be followed!! I also suspect that quite a few are not willing to undergo the necessary and rigorous process to determine the validity of their complaint. Vanessa follows very specific guidelines to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment protocols. I find her to be compassionate and understanding of the difficulties dealing with actual chronic pain. Appointments are timely. The only time I have ever had to wait 5 or 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, is due to Vanessa spending some extra time working with a patient in need. I commend her for that. Lastly, several people seem to have an issue with the gentleman who answers her phone. Every time I have called, Mike answers promptly. Never had a problem making an appointment. He's succinct and friendly. Is it the fact that he has a slight accent that cause some people's dismay? If so, they might have more issues than just pain... The expense should've been covered under personal injury protection via my provider, I sent the bill to my PIP examiner, explained the situation to one of the reps at McKenzie Medical Imaging and told them they would have to send my chart to the PIP examiner, which never happened, and despite explaining the situation and the ball being in their court, they sent my bill to collections. So now, not only has this accident impacted my health and my career, it's now impacted my credit. These people don't care about circumstances or legal process--they just want their money. Go anywhere but here for your medical imaging.

Upon walking in the door I was surprised how clean and picked up the reception area was. Mary at the front desk was very polite and answered all my questions relating to her area of responsibility. Next Brooke took me to the prep area and explained what was going to be happening next. She then passed me off to Teri who continued prepping me, answering all my questions and staying with me until it was time to go to the operating theater. When I awoke there was another nurse ( didn't get her name) who stayed with me until I was released. Because I am hypoglycemic she had my choice of apple juice or apple sauce waiting for me when I awoke. Everything went very smoothly and would definitely use the facility again.

The type of care I received last week from Dr. Magda Dissanayake, aka "Dr. D" was awful. I have…read moreseveral life threatening illnesses, & am caught in the midst of new doctors and/or many attitude/negative changes to practices. Dr. D not only blamed me for my illnesses, that are inherited & very serious, he asked me where my neuropathy pain was. I briefly pointed to the 2 spots in my legs, then Dr. told me to "quit complaining". I came to him per my insurance company's suggestion because of the severity of my medical issues at 68 years old, also to ask him for a scan on my stomach/rectal area that had malignancy taken out about 2 years ago, that is painful 24/7 & has bled intermittently after the malignancy was taken out. He refused any scans, because he himself didn't diagnose it, also he hadn't read any of the 62 pages of medical records I brought in at 1st visit last week, from Lane County for the last 19 years. I asked him to please, per my insurance company's Case Management's request, send a referral to Palliative Care that I do qualify for. He refused that, too. My impression is that he wanted to start from scratch to make his own evaluation. If I wasn't so sick with internal bleeding issues, consistent stomach pains, alleged IBS/Crohns Disease (suggested by a specialist/provider last year), I would have been agreeable to Dr. D's requests, though partially, because I've had severe problems with stools (constipation), requiring hospitalization, since I was 8 years old, also possibly inherited. Dr. D said that my 2.5 years of low dose pain meds for Fibromyalgia, Neuropathy, Osteoarthritis, etc.,etc., is the cause of my constipation. Again, he didn't read a thing about my past medical history the 19 years here in OR + other state I lived. This has been going on for 29 years. I don't mean only bathroom difficulties/issues, but severe & life threatening medical issues. I was put on SSDI in '97. To top this, he didn't continue my pain meds, so I'm cut off cold turkey. I felt as if I had to pull teeth for my heart meds, also he didn't prescribe me my Pro-Air asthma/COPD inhaler. His medical assistant also neglected to log in my very high systolic blood pressure reading because she intimated that "I have too many issues to put in necessary info". This girl had a bad attitude from the start, maybe due to having a bad day. Please note: I was refused any/all referrals, whether to Digestive or pain management. Dr. D said that he's an Internist & doesn't refer, also he said he doesn't specialize in Digestive issues (that's why I needed the referrals). I fired Dr. "D" the next day & have to wait a couple weeks to see a new Primary Care Dr. Time is of essence. I am scared. I hurt. The pain everywhere is unbearable, & I just want help from a doctor/specialist. I don't want to die like this. Staff in reception....awesome! Kim was so helpful, & the 2 other ladies went out of their way to help me log in my pages full of info on their tablet. I was very impressed, also grateful for them! I've been instructed by our state Senator, to contact Senior/Disabled Advocacy, because our senator is not happy with this issue & others from me/other patients. He wants to be apprised of what the State Advocacy says & does as far as my grievances, & I am to keep contact with the Senator. This, he said, is unacceptable! I will call/contact State Advocacy tomorrow, Monday. I wished it had worked out with Dr. "D".

In every connection within the medical field I came upon during this journey, Dr. Keiper was the only surgeon recommended. I wanted a surgeon on the cutting edge of technology and Dr. Keiper designed and developed the technique used on my spine.   Beginning with our first consultation and reviewing my MRI results, Dr. Keiper was able to put me at ease with his explanations and confidence at what he knew he could fix. He took the time to answer my questions more than once, always making sure I understood. He said I would notice immediate improvement and he was correct. Every step I have taken since surgery has been done with a very thankful heart. I look forward to every step I take and gaining strength for a future full of adventure.   Thank you, Dr. Keiper, for your dedication to the betterment of movement and helping to improve my quality of life. I also highly recommend Ralph Peterson with KeiperSpine. He was able to calm my nerves (more than once) while waiting for the long process of insurance approval. He was able to factually demonstrate my condition by having me perform a series of tests and explain to me what my legs were experiencing. These tests gave me confidence that after surgery, I would be relieved of the symptoms I was experiencing. When I went in for staple removal (which was painless), his encouragement made me feel proud of the progress I had made at only one week post-op. Then, my first X-ray checking on my new hardware was again a huge encouragement. I am happy to report I am well ahead of all timelines with the minimally invasive back surgery only Dr. Keiper with Ralph are approved to perform here locally.

My appt was at 11:00, I was finally called in to the room at 11:35, take vitals, shoes off, etc. I remember it was 11:45 because I was looking at my watch as Dr Angeles walked in. Told me I don't need surgery, asked me where my back hurt, told me to lift both legs against her hand, said "I don't see anything wrong with your back, I recommend PT" and walked out. I put my shoes on and looked at my watch again, it was 11:38. 3 minutes she spent. I see the brochure I got before hand; "As a mother of 3, Dr. Angeles.........treats every patient with compassionate care as if they are her family". I really hope she spends more time on her children's problems than she did on me. Do Not Go Here.
