Drinks post-shopping is always a good idea. My friend and I visited Habitant after shopping at the anniversary sale at Nordy's, so of course we needed to get some sustenance after all that hard work of bargain hunting. Thus, we come to Habitant located steps from where we were. Habitant is the bar located inside Nordstrom's on the second floor by the women's department. We visited during Friday evening and the small bar was pretty busy, with nearly all tables taken. My friend and I got some brut rose and shared fries and artichoke dip with pita. The menu doesn't have much, but enough for bites or even a whole meal as it offered a couple of entrees and some snacks, with a full list of cocktails, wine and beer. It's a fun place to get some drinks and refreshments in the middle of Nordy's! Staff was super friendly and informed us of when last call was for the kitchen and bar. Rose was solid, as well as the fries and artichoke dip. We had a fun time here getting some snacks and sipping along with the other shoppers. Prices are a little steep, but they do offer happy hour if you're able to get here early. Habitant is a solid place to treat yo' self at Nordy's. read more

You can order food - thought it's made at another restaurant on the same floor and brought to the bar. The service is good. However, depending on the time seating can be tricky. I love that there is a bar in Nordstrom! Let's be honest - cocktails and shopping? Hardly anything beats it. The location and vibe is spot on, and the servers are always super friendly. My three star review is a result of the price (most cocktails are ~$20) and the food (which is lackluster). My friend and I ordered the Burrata. And I'm not sure what we got - but it was definitely not Burrata. Burrata is a yummy ball of mozzarella cheese with yummy gooey cheesiness on the inside. We did not get this. We got 3 *very small* pieces of fresh mozzarella (size of a quarter), 6 pieces of bread, and a boatload of tomatoes. It was definitely more of a Caprese salad. I asked the server if we received the right thing, as typically burrata would imply a mostly cheese based dish (not a few slices of regular mozzarella), and he informed me this is how their burrata is. Then he looked closer and agreed it was definitely lacking cheese. He brought us a side plate with more fresh mozzarella which was nice, but it really wasn't what we were expecting. Delicious Drinks and wonderful service ! I really enjoyed walking around Nordstrom and bumping into this bar in the middle of the store. The server was wearing a mask and ensured customers were seated far part. The bar seating is temporarily closed. However, there is plenty of seating surrounding the bar. Upon our arrival our server greeted us, walked us to a clean table top by the TV, and handed us the cocktail menu. Currently sitting here on a crowded, short-staffed day so thought I'd bring some positivity- I love this place! If you order only one thing, get the Vine Street (vodka, rosé, lime, mint, grape, and prosecco). I've never had something with three different alcohols be so smooth and refreshing! The service is wonderful, bartenders are always so great; they are friendly and welcoming without being pushy or fake. I've visited several times across the tears and they always provide consistent service! The setting...a bar in a Nordstrom. I have said it all. They are dark, twisted, brilliant, and kind for putting this place in however many years ago they did. I have only tried the deviled eggs (cage free, with maple/bacon) but they were great! A great snack when you need some shopping fuel. The prices are also perfectly fair, something that honestly surprised me at first. A Vine Street is currently $14 and the eggs are $8. Why doesn't every department store come with a killer bar complete with snacka menu!? If this was just a thing, I'd probably have far less hangry incidents..I might be more of a lush than I already am..but much more good natured. Well, I was definitely approaching that dangerous hangry state when the husband, fearing for his life, spotted this place. We were excited at the thought of a bite as well drinks before noon on a Sunday..priorities guys. The bartender was busy preparing his homemade sweet and sour mix as we walked up. Wellll I then felt obligated to indulge in my usual club cocktail and had an amaretto sour at 11 am. No judgment friends. The husband spotted the copper mug, he's a Moscow mule purist, and caved as well. So there we are, just a newly married couple showing how we've successfully survived our first year of marriage- drinking before noon. We sipped our drinks, snacked on pretentious pistachio bar nuts and marveled at the menu noms. The menu was labeled with gf designations, and even better was that the bartender was familiar with contamination and it was clear that this place takes their food allergies very seriously. I ordered the berry salad which was a glorious combination on strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, goat cheese, and candied nuts. The husband enjoyed the polenta fries with aioli and we shared some home run maple bacon deviled eggs. If I lived in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs town, I'd request these deviled eggs weekly. Absolutely love this bar even though it is located in the middle of Nordstrom. After a couple of hours shopping, this is the perfect quick stop for a refreshing drink, ahh Vine street or whatchamacallit. My new favorite drink. This concept is brilliant, a bar in the middle of one of America's largest retail store. I would go here if I'm shopping at Nordstrom and need a place to sit down. Or if I work at the mall & need a break from dealing with customer service. It's small & intimate here, better than going to a restaurant to me if you're looking for a quick place to hang out at. Full bar & snacks/appetizers which does get you full if you order enough small plates. Surprisingly the food was decent enough to have me come back. I thought it was just a convenient type of deal, but their cilantro lime chicken tacos were a hit. 4 small hard shell tacos with great flavors. On the second floor, located at the middle section of Nordstrom by the escalators, (Bellevue location) there is a wonderful oasis to quench your thirst and satisfy your snack hankerings named Habitant. It's a place to loosen up before shopping your heart out. Have a martini or a nice glass of red blend. Shopping can be so much more fun after relaxing for a moment. A word of caution: I only recommend starting here if you are very aware of your spending limits otherwise this is a danger zone - um which is what a little bird told me. Gene is usually the bartender. He is friendly, can make a solid old fashioned, and can recommend a cocktail if nothing on the menu sings to your whim of the moment. The happy hour is decent. This bar was the best idea Nordstrom ever had. There's nothing like a quick bite to eat and drink to get you in the mood to shop. I like that there are table snacks if you just want something to pad your drink, and also items like polenta fries if you are looking for something a little more substantial without being completely unhealthy. The servers here are really nice and are always racing around - I believe they make the drinks for the Grill restaurant inside the Nordstrom, too. Most recently I brought my best friend's mom here to pamper her before our pre-sale shopping experience. She had a wonderful time and we three ladies found lots of great products to purchase after having proseccos here with the polenta fries. This is how every shopping experience should go. read more

This is a bar inside of Bellevue Nordstrom. At the other corner, there is a restaurant, also inside of Nordstrom. Eat there, but have a drink and a snack here. My "Billionaire" cocktail was Maker's Mark based. My companion had a "craft Vodka" based cocktail. Both were excellently made and delicious. We had a hummus and fried Polenta. Both had excellent presentation and taste delicious. Soon, we were smiling and chattery and felt happy. The waiter/bartender had the right balance of attentiveness at a distance. Several people were watching football games. Shoppers bumped into friends and had a spontaneous conversation. This is what made Nordstrom. Nice. read more

Incredible service. My sister is pregnant and due any minute, so I'm in town to help. Help means walk around the mall. We stopped in with sort of low expectations only because it's a bar in the middle of Nordstrom. We love Nordstrom's though, so I think we knew it wouldn't be terrible. My sister asked if they could do something with pineapple and they made her a pineapple soda with fresh pineapple juice and brought her a refill too. We ordered: 1. grilled watermelon salad- different but amazing. The watermelon came with char marks and was still warm, it was perfectly sweet and the prosciutto was the perfect about of salty, the mozzarella and balsamic made the perfect bite. 2. chicken lime and cilantro tacos- really good! The chicken was flavorful and the diced tomatoes and peppers were great additions. I don't like crunchy taco shells and I liked this dish a lot. 3. smoked salmon and creme fraiche crostini's- not bad, I wasn't a huge fan but they weren't bad. I'm not a fan of pickled onion or capers but I will admit they worked well in this. 4. frites- we had been expecting fries since frites typically translate to fries everywhere else we've been. It wasn't a huge deal, the frites were good. Warm, a little too salty but still good. Service was impeccable. Prompt, friendly, helpful. Everything you would want and then some. Habitant provides more of an upscale sports bars feel while also reminding you that you're in a department store. The drink I had, Cupid's Arrow, was absolutely delightful. I would absolutely have another 5 or 6 of those. The bartender was on point and a had a great balance of being social while not being overbearing. The icing? They give you pistachios. The Smoke and Heat (a jalapeno tequila drink) is one of the finest hot pepper infused drinks I've ever had; my fiancé is in love with the Billionaire (though sadly, it's the bourbon and absinthe drink, not me). In addition to their excellent drinks, their bar food is delicious. This should be no surprise since the Nordstrom Cafe is a well-regarded eatery, and they share the same kitchen. Their food have excellent flavor, and are all pretty interesting: from the lamb meatballs (delicious) and lotus root chips (also pretty good), to the smashed potato-lings with truffle salt and bacon aioli (addictive). Of course, no discussion of Habitant can exist without discussing its conspicuous location, right as you walk into the 2nd floor entrance of the Bellevue Square Nordstroms. It is obviously a brilliant idea, not just because guys need all the help they can get, but it turns out ladies also enjoy being tipsy before/after they go around the mall collecting their 'free gifts' (this insight added by my fiance, not me). They have no happy hour (lord help them if they did...), though I do have one interesting tip. For those of you that have a Nordstrom reward Visa card. It turns out, you can spend your rewards at the bar. So there you go... your lady spends lots of money and you get rewarded with alcohol. A consolation prize that I can (kinda) get behind. read more

What in the world is NOT to love about this place? It's on the second floor of Nordie's, centrally located smack-dab in full view of the store's entrance to the mall, abutting the escalator. There are dividers designating this cozy restaurant/bar from the rest of the store, and signs that say that minors are not permitted (due to this being a bar). There are wall-mounted tv screens on the wooden panel above the bar and there are always some sports events playing (football or golf or baseball, whenever I've been here). You can tell they primarily cater to men: all those guys who were shanghaied by their female friends or partners to go out shopping. lol! I like how you can sit down and recoup for a while and just order a cup of tea. I like how they have cute bowls of pistachios on the table, to munch on. I like how the foods are presented as appetizers, in smaller plates, prettily plated. (The roasted beet salad with goat cheese is fantastic, btw. And less than $7, to boot! Very reasonable, and just the right size for a light lunch or a quick snack). I like how the bartenders and waiters are always super nice. I never feel rushed here. I've come to think of this place as a little haven in the middle of a sometimes-overwhelming store. What's not to love? read more

I've been here a couple times, usually to take a break from shopping and just people watch, but last night was for a night cap after dinner at a different restaurant. Don't get me wrong the food here is good, it just wasn't the purpose of this trip. The location is perfect, in the center of the 2nd Floor with a view of the escalator behind a wall of glass (the bar area). This space is 21+ which is kind of nice. They have a long bar, an abbreviated menu as closing time approaches 9:30pm I believe) and 2 TVs, one of which was playing Monday Night Football. My husband and I chose a nice red wine and while I was searching for dessert, my sweet tooth was satisfied by some complimentary chocolate sticks (see pictures) that were included with the bill. Maybe it was because of the hour but unfortunately not much INTERESTING people watching occurred, but if it's going to, this is the spot I wanting to be sitting. read more

They give you free pistachios to snack on while you sip your cocktails, that alone is worth a couple stars. I really like the concept of Habitant, and as a Nordstroms regular (understatement of the year) I know I'll find myself here again to enjoy a beverage. Drink menu is really concise and they focus on "crafting" cocktails. They make all their own syrups and sours, use fresh fruit for muddling, and have a better selection than you'd expect of high end booze. Johnny Blue, Macallan 21, Louis XIII to name a few. Prices are reasonable, so don't be scared to try a few cocktails the next time you're picking up something from the Gucci boutique. read more

Concept: Replacing the sitting area where men would wait for their wives or significant others to finish shopping with a full-service bar is not only ingenious, it's incredibly convenient for everyone. Even though Nordstrom has a cafe and a restaurant already, Habitant does bring something new to the table. The idea is that it is quicker and easier to access good 'ol drinks and small bites, and you don't have to walk far. Drinks: I'm not much of a day-drinker as my tolerance is pretty low, but the drink quality and price is pretty good for the Bellevue area. They serve their Moscow mules (made with Rachel's Ginger Beer, yum!) in those copper cups which is a nice stylistic touch. Food: All plates are more like appetizer or snack-portioned. Please try the lime cilantro chicken tacos. The shells are crispy and greasy and delicious! They're also the perfect size for small plate tacos. Everything about them is tasty, without being overwhelming. For about $9, it's also a great deal! Definitely my favorite plate out of anything Nordstrom makes (including what's in their cafe on the 3rd floor)! I've also had the crab cake sliders. These have a bit of a kick to them. They're presented nicely with these unique chips (I think they're made out of radishes?). The only downside to this dish is the salt... a bit too salty for me. Another favorite is the crispy roasted potatoes with bacon aioli! Anything with aioli screams my name so I had to try them. I thought it was a nice twist on the traditional fried potato or french fry appetizer at most bars. Service: Here is where I docked the most... When this place is busy (which is most of the time during business hours), the service is very slow. There's only 1-2 servers including the bartender. They need to have a bit more staff on hand to accommodate because they are very popular. One time I waited un upwards of 30-35 minutes for my tacos. Ah! Whoever decided to put a bar in the middle of a department store is a genius. I do the majority of my shopping in Nordstrom and love after I'm done I can sit at the bar and order a drink. I always get a Hendricks and Tonic- the bartenders know how to make it properly (w/ cucumber garnish!) The food list isn't extensive but they have yummy little appetizers to fuel you to continue with your shopping or tie you over until dinner. They also offer complimentary pistachios when you sit down and a chocolate mint when you get your check. The atmosphere is nice enough. Prices are decent considering you're at Nordstrom. read more

Came to watch the rockets game and hang out with the sister. The food was really just meh. The Honey chicken wings were sour and the Cilantro lime chicken was just okay as well. They grind up the chicken which I found different. We had 4 pieces of chicken wing and 4 hard tacos and a basil cucumber cooler that totaled $33, $38 with tip. Honestly not worth it. If you took Habitant out of Nordstrom it would still be a cool bar. I went there last Friday during the Bellevue Art Fair. Habitant is on the second floor of Nordstrom right between TBD and Point of View backing up to the escalator. It is totally open and in the middle of the main selling floor. For those of you who know this Nordstrom well it is where the Piano used to be. The have about a dozen cocktails on the menu. I tried one called Smoke and Heat that was made with mezcal (imagine tequila but smokier), jalapeno syrup, grand marnier, oj and alder smoked sea salt on the rim. I'll be honest, I only like oj in my mimosas so I asked if I could do grapefruit juice instead and they happily obliged. The smoked sea salt rim was an awesome touch! I was really impressed with their liquor selection overall (don't forget it's a new concept bar for Nordstrom). It was nice to see some local products including some from Woodinville Whiskey and Sound Spirits. They even had Tanqueray Malacca which is not easy to come by. Other things you don't always see at a bar included Chartreuse, Aperol, Benedictine, Fernet, Campari, Cochi, Ramazzati, Pimm's, Liquor 43, St. Germaine, Luxardo, Domain de Canton etc.... not so uncommon but plenty of places in Bellevue wouldn't have all of these liquors. In addition to a nice craft cocktail list they had small plates. I tried a grilled mushroom salad. It had several nice large trumpet mushrooms in it. The cheese and charcuterie plates ( about 10 dollars a piece) both looked really nice as well. Only set back that I can see is that the kitchen preparing the food is not on the same floor. I stumbled upon Habitant their first day open and the service overall was very good but the food did take quite a bit longer than I would have thought. Loved it - but feeling a little bitter and betrayed that the nachos are no longer on the menu... I ran for it today and it wasn't there. I'm still mourning it. It's literally keeping me up at night, and I had to let the world know of this travesty. I'm writing this from under the comforter so the light doesn't wake my boyfriend. I hope I can let go of the grief so I can start the healing process soon. Habitant is the name of the bar that resides right smack in the middle of the Bellevue Nordstrom. I spend lots of time here while my wife and daughters roam the mall. Often it is too crowded on the weekend and I can't find a seat. However if you do find a seat, there are 2 TV's with sports on them always. Very nice. It is a full service bar with food available but my only complaint, no draft beer. read more
