This is my favorite deli in the area. Food is good and staff are friendly. There are also really great organic options here. :)

The original name was called laurose and tuna salad chopping has been happening for over four decades. My fort green family really know what it is. My cousin and I stopped by yesterday and picked up a couple of heroes. I had to get my beef salami and 3 pepper colby jack cheese, extra mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, on a whole wheat hero (10.99) . Much love to a family staple for years. Definitely a place for you to pick up a sandwich that won't break the bank.

I waited for about 45 minutes, while waiting I picked up my chips and a white peach ginger ale. I also talked to the girl in front and she explained that you can get your sandwhich on a hero or roll. I ordered a chopped honey turkey with onions, pickles, lettuce and mayo. The guy who made my sandwich was soo friendly and patient. I just put my trust in him to hook it up lol. He also asked if I wanted to add the chips and I did. Overall my sandwhich was better the next day after it firmed up. The flavor was good but the texture was soft, mushy and just not what I want in a turkey sandwhich. It ran me about 12.00 and it was worth the experience.

If that's not the most Brooklyn thing ever, I don't know what is. Same sandwiches, different blessing. Everybody says order the pastrami, so I listened like a grown man should. Pastrami on rye with spicy mustard absolutely slapped. Smoky, juicy, perfectly stacked, and messy enough to ruin your shirt with honor. Then came the beef brisket on rye with a cup of au jus for dipping... and brother, that dip should be studied by scientists. Pure perfection. Washed everything down with a Dr. Brown's root beer like it was 1957. No fake trendy nonsense. No deconstructed sandwiches. Just old-school deli greatness that punches you directly in the soul. Great food doesn't care where you come from -- it just brings everybody to the same table. That's New York. That's Brooklyn.

But don't dare get a simple turkey sandwich. And also, they're misrepresenting that they have chicken salad. They do not. Or maybe they've been lying about it.

I went with two friends so were able to try three different sandwiches and to be honest, they were all just alright. The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.

Delivery: Handled directly by the deli's driver, it was delivered extremely fast even despite the bad weather. 2. The Coleslaw: Excellent! Exceptionally fresh and creamy, perfectly balancing acidity with sweetness, which resulted in an amazingly pleasant taste. The cabbage had a wonderfully delicate, tender bite rather than a heavy or harsh crunch. An easy 10/10. Unfortunately, the sandwich was only a 2/10. I ordered regular turkey breast and did not expect it to be fried! Heating it changed both the texture and flavor, as I didn't realize I needed to explicitly request that cold, fresh-sliced turkey should not be seared. While the sandwich was large, freshly prepared, and delivered still warm, it tasted completely bland and flavorless. I chose feta cheese because it usually pairs so well with fresh turkey breast and olives. I paid extra for olives, but received literally only 2 Kalamata olives cut in half--and while they tasted good, that quantity was ridiculous. The feta was barely there, and what little was included had an unpleasant taste and texture. The avocado was also practically nonexistent. The eggs were cut in such an unfortunate place that the yummy yolk ended up all over the wrapping paper, leaving only over-fried whites in this breakfast sandwich. I even tried saving it with my own authentic Mexican chili-garlic hot sauce, but unfortunately, it didn't help much. Perhaps this was an off-day for the cook or a result of changes under new management, because I remember enjoying this exact sandwich so much more in the past. I am not writing this to disparage the restaurant, but I hope management takes this feedback seriously, since Brooklyn has no shortage of excellent sandwich spots, and longtime, loyal customers will notice when ingredient quality and portions decline. Sandwich: 2/10 Coleslaw: 10/10
