Our fishing trip got canceled due to hurricane Erin. We decided to go to the waterpark on our last day in the Outer Banks. It was a little pricey, but so worth it. The park is completely enclosed, and all the rides are grouped together by size. So our youngest toddlers got to go play all day then our older kids got to go to this section for the families while also going to check out the thriller rides. it was a great time. A good activity for those who want an alternative day activity. There are occasional sales or ticket deals to watch for. We tried a Saturday and found it to not be too crowded. You do not have to pay for parking. Please read the info on the website because several people were slowing the entrance by trying to bring in outside food. It is very clear on website, that you can only bring one unopened bottle of water per person. Pro tip- pack a cooler and leave in vehicle. You can have cold drinks waiting for you on the way home. They also will allow you to go out and come back in with a stamp. Food and drink prices are very reasonable. There is a good variety of food choices in the park and they were quick. Bring your ID for some adult beverages (frozen drinks, cocktails, wine and beer). There is a lot of things to do in the park so you can spend most of the day there - and lots of umbrellas so you can sit comfortably. The concrete does get hot, so shoes are good when walking long distances. Friendly people, good and attentive staff and clean. Maybe I went in with low expectations, but my family and I had an excellent experience. The park was clean and well-tended to. We went midweek, arriving when they opened and stayed till 3. Never had a substantial line on any ride. All the slides were a blast. Food/drink was reasonable for being an amusement park (or maybe my home state is just more expensive so it seemed reasonable to me). Their website was great and answered all the questions we had ahead of time so we knew to bring empty water bottles, which we could fill with water at the concession stand. They even let you get a stamp, leave the park and come back in so you could technically pack a cooler and eat near your car if you really don't want to buy food there. If you have teenage girls with you, make sure you warn them about the male workers hitting on them and nothing being done about it immediately. My daughter who loves any type of amusement ride was so uncomfortable that she would not go on any one of the slides that one of the employees(Oliver) was watching or near(Wild Horse, Rogue Wave, Dune Runnner ,etc.). I told one of the "lead employees" in the green shirt and 20 minutes later I went up to where he was and he was still there. Nothing was done about it immediately which should have. You should not make guests uncomfortable (especially since we spent an extra $250 on a Cabana) and spent money there so our kids could enjoy the rides, not be harassed on them. I told another employee after I saw nothing was done about it and he said "well he's 16". That shouldn't matter. It's unprofessional. I was 16 once so I understand, but I never hit on anyone while on the job at that age. GREAT PLACE! First off, I'm quite surprised there aren't any reviews within the last year so I'll gladly kick it off. Decided to come to Outerbanks for the week of the 4th and desperately needed things to do for my family of four. I remembered seeing this water park on the way in. I checked Groupon and luckily they had tickets for $5 cheaper bringing the total to $33.99 per ticket. I quickly bought 4. I was torn between renting a Cabana or taking my chances by getting there early and getting a seat. I chose the latter option. I arrived bright and early at 10 AM, park opening. Got a perfect spot. (FREE PARKING). Walked up to the gate and the individual scanned my tickets. Away we went into the park. This place was VERY clean. I was surprised. PLENTY OF SEATING with LARGE umbrellas over the seating. Immediate relief that I didn't waste $200+ on a cabana. Lines for the rides were not long at all. The park wasn't crowded. They provide life vests all throughout the park. Plenty of lifeguards constantly looking around and being observant. We stayed until 3 so we were able to do everything. There are couples rides as well as singles rides. There are two family rides that we enjoyed as well. The food seemed reasonably priced for a park aside from the funnel cake. They do have a full bar but the alcohol is kinda lacking depending on the drink. All in all, this place is a GREAT TIME and I definitely recommend. read more

Poor accommodations for military veterans with service connected disabilities. If I could give them zero stars I would. Be prepared to pay full admissions price even if you cannot participate in any of the activities. Its common sense all of the activities in the park requires you getting wet. if you obviously cannot participate in the activities why are they still charging full price? Personally I was recovering from a ankle wound and had a boot on my foot to keep everything stable. Since we were on vacation at OBX I was just just happy to be around my family members who attended the park that day. To my surprise despite me explaining my situation they still charged full admissions price. They have water but no way to verify they aren't filling it from the baby pool or not - so.... You can buy almost anything while you are here but it's gonna cost you. In this economy you would think they would be helping those of us that paid over $100 for an adult and 2 children by letting us take drinks and some snacks in but no...I really can't recommend this or any entertainment with the way the economy is. First impression... clean, nice and plenty of space! My babe decided the family should take a mini road trip to this waterpark that's about 75 minutes away from home. The drive from Chesapeake was great...traffic was minimal. But be mindful if you take the toll route... it's pretty pricey. However, if you have an ezpass you're covered (assuming you have loaded money on your pass). There is a bypass to avoid the tolls, but I am unsure of the route. We arrived to the park about 11 am a few Saturdays ago. To my surprise, the parking lot was pretty much empty. But a good thing... no real wait in line. However, we purchased the four pack of passes online a few days before the trip. The advance purchase saves you a few dollars and it's totally worth it if you are traveling with four people. We knew it would be a hot Saturday so we also purchased a cabana to stay in the shade... such a great decision! The cabana prices vary as well as the perks. Our cabana was pretty much on the back side of the park. Where we were positioned, I could see the cars coming and leaving the park. Keep in mind bushes are nearby this area as well, so the bugs clearly made it known we were in their territory. We enjoyed the park from arrival to departure... we stayed until the park closed. Not once did the girls (12 year old) complain about their experience at the park. They had a great time and because of such a great time, they wanted to stay until the park closed. At the park, family rides (2+ people) and individual rides. Our attendant (at the cabana) advised Saturdays are hit or miss as far as attendance. I believe this Saturday in particular less than 1000 were present... from the looks of it, we couldn't tell. The park is spacious and so clean, we cannot wait to return and hopefully the crowd is the same. We may have waited up to 5 minutes to get on the rides. The kiddie area was populated, but not overcrowded. The wave pool too was populated, but not overcrowded. My only side eye is the food offered by the park itself... everything is prepackaged and not made to order. However, there are a few other spots to order food from and they do offer made to order items. Dippin dots ice cream is on location. Beer and wine is served... sangria too. Now liquor... I did not spot that anywhere. Would I recommend this waterpark... absolutely!! Pay ahead of time to save... plan to stay the entire day!! This is the third summer I've bought season passes and will absolutely be the last. Was spoken to once about proper place to vape, acknowledged it, and then 2 more life guards proceeded to tell me where to go, and that I can't smoke, after I stopped vaping the first time I was told. It's rather harassment at that point: and then to go down and tell the two other life guards, to keep an eye on me; and point me out is beyond unprofessional. The no outside food or beverages unless you have a doctors note. That's an invasion of privacy, I was unaware I needed to provide proof for my 6 year olds gluten , dairy, wheat allergy, but yet here we are. Ocean breeze doesn't require any of this, the staff is substantially more pleasant. We will just stick to that place. Such a shame as we frequented h2o at least 3x a week. 1st off...this place looks awesome but its $50/tix and for large family vacations seems outrageous. We did visit due to 2 free tickets included in our rental in OBX.... but there were 11 in our family group which is some $$$$$ for an afternoon at a park.. We got there just before noon on a Saturday. Parking lot wasn't overly crowded and entering the water park was simple. They do a pretty quick bag check and then you enter the alleyway of Gift Shop/Foods You Need before hitting the park. It's not too much but it sets the tone. Most of the regular lounge chairs were already taken by the time we walked into the park. And while it appears you can rent some private space/cabana ($$$), we lucked into 2 loungers near the wave pool. There are lockers available to hold your valuables...at $15-$20/pop....more $$$ Once settled into our spot, we looked around....and there were lines everywhere. Lines for all the slides, lines for the food, lines for the bathrooms. And more people coming into the park every moment. Also, we felt we couldn't both go wait in line for a slide because our stuff would be left alone. So we took turns, which wasn't nearly as much fun. There are lots of life guards working, which is important to share. And every time the wave pool started, they all stand and watch the crowd. The food smelled good but we didn't try anything. There were tons of people walking around with reusable logoed cups ($$). Overall, we spent 2 hours here. We did the lazy river and the wave pool. I am so glad we didn't bring the whole family. My family and I are visiting the outer banks and decided to come here for the day. This is a very nice, well maintained water park. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The water rides themselves were what you would expect at a water park. They have 2 stacks of slides. One is a combination of 2 family style rides where the whole family can ride at the same tip. My best advice for these is to arrive early and ride these first because the line is slow and gets long quickly. The other group of slides has individual and double tubes. These are all quite fun. There are also 2 slides with no tubes where you stand in a chamber and the bottom drops out and you free fall for a bit. The green slide is more thrilling than the blue one but these are both good rides. There are 2 wave pools and a lazy river as well. These are relaxing and the lazy river has features to make it more interesting. This place is really nice because it does not get too crowded. One of the tricks for any of these amusement park type of places is to get there early. For some reason people cannot seem to get to these places early. I guess people like to sleep. I would have given them 5 stars, but I think they really have a badly thought policy that only allows people to bring in one 20 ounce bottle of water. They sell water but it is $4.00 a bottle. This is really a ticket to get people dehydrated who are walking around and climbing stairs all day. They really should either allow you to bring in as much water as you want, or somehow supply free drinking water. Really this is unacceptable and shows management really does not care about the well being of their guests. As an aside they do not allow you to bring food or other drinks into the park either. They check as you enter the facility. The bottom line is this is a very clean, well maintained facility. It is a lot of fun for the whole family. I had not planned to ride anything in the park so I didn't take appropriate clothing and planned to simply watch the family. At the ticket boot I explained I would only be watching. There was a floater in the kiddie area that had to be cleared out for about 45 minutes so they could treat and sanitize the water. My husband and I took our niece and nephew there this past week for the day. It was a terrific day for all of us. Plenty to do. As a former swim club manager I can understand and appreciate excellent lifeguards with a strong dedicated work ethic. After a few attractions I noticed that this was absolutely true here. They were all incredible. While at the obstacle course a young lifeguard with blonde hair needed to assist a guest after the guest jumped in and began to panic a little. The lifeguard showed the utmost respect for the guest and made sure the guest was taken care of. The guard made sure to stay with the guest for a few minutes until she was able to calm down. It was incredible to watch the guard. Prior to reopening the attraction, both guards scanned the water several times before allowing my nephew to jump in. The one challenge was the hot pavement. I did notice that some sections had the landscape sprinklers on which was a great relief for me and the kids. Overall we had a great day and wound up staying longer than we had anticipated. To begin with, my wife has a disease. I am not going to disclose any more info as for having a medical documentation is dumb. They would not let my wife bring in her diatery needs. Jennifer was the worst manager there and I thought Matt was helpful but after reading the website it clearly states it is not guaranteed to be safe. We take her disease very seriously as if she gets sick it could kill her. But i bet if the gluten free food there, as with other amusement type parks, people do not have the proper training to properly prepare food that needs to be allergen free. Our neighbor has an allergy and they never give her an issues about bringing own food in. The next issue i have is with the life guards. It is annoying that they have those sticks because they keep running to my son even though hes been on the dang ride 4 times. Then he rode tbe brown spin cycle ride no problem, next life guard says no. Seriously he was on it already and within height. I recommend taking your little kids to Ocean Breeze not H20BX. It seems like a park for bigger kids. The only good thing was our server Victoria, she apologized for how the park was treating us today. This is a fun park but to just get in with our vacation pass, we had to wait in line for almost an hour to get a picture-ID card (and that was before the line started getting ridiculous). They should never have switched from the wrist bands in years past! It was SO hot and the line moved very slowly since only two people were working this station. The slides and attractions were fun and clean. It was well-staffed with lifeguards. The food is very expensive (you're not allowed to bring food/drinks inside). This place is pretty darn cool. A little bit for everyone and once they complete more phases, it will be even more popular. We went this past Thursday right as they opened (10am) and found a decent space to lay down our things (5 adults and 8 children) near the entrance. Plenty of staff on hand to help you in any way. Place is very clean and the service is friendly, even in the cafeteria style restaurant. Prices reasonable for electronic lockers (amazing versus a key!) and the food itself inside didn't break the bank. $8 for chicken tenders and fries was almost enough to feed two children). 1) Don't pay retail. Most of the rental companies have deals, there are coupons in the books. They try and get you to buy online at a small discount ahead of time, you can probably do better at the beach. We got there at the 10AM opening, and most people had bought tickets ahead so the line to buy was only like 2 minutes long. 2) They only allow in sealed disposable water bottles, or EMPTY refillable ones. No food of any kind. 3) There are a huge number of tables with umbrellas. Unless you have a huge clan, or there will be no one at the table for part of the time there's no reason to get a cabana. 4) Cabanas are expensive, but the worst is not the cabana, it's the service. Waiters come around and ask if you want anything, and if you order it magically appears on your tab. A great way to have no idea how much you're spending at the very expensive restaurants. 5) Place is clean, neat, and well staffed with life guards. 6) One of the biggest water parks we've been to. I'm sure there are larger, but there really is something for everyone. A kiddy (under 5ish) area, a kids (5-12ish?) area, and then a grownup area. A lazy river in the middle, and don't forget the obstacle course in the middle of the lazy river. 7) Some of the adult slides are a bit strong. Very fun park and it was pretty dead so not really any waiting for the slides. It is also very clean. The food wasn't that good in my opinion, my wife got the brisket and it was dry and had an odd taste but that could be us with different taste buds. The hamburger was horrible and over cooked (see the photo) sorry it looks gross but I took it out of the bun so you could see the burnt edges. I did ask if I could get one that wasn't so over cooked and they said "sorry they only come that way because we cook them in a machine" lol. Anyway, the chicken fingers were good. I suggest you bring your food and leave it in a cooler in the car and get your hand stamped. At lunch go to your car eat and come back in. Food is probably much better and you will save some money. With this being a new water park it's definitely clean, for the most part. The exception is the changing areas, which reeked of old urine. The water slides are impressive, but be careful if you have a bad back, I tweaked mine on the one. There are lots of huge umbrellas which provides nice shade but unfortunately it seems people stake out the loungers underneath them and pile their crap on them so nobody can use them, even though they never seem to actually use the chairs. One thing that is a must here are water shoes, the concrete here gets HOT in the sun, plus it's heavily textured and not fun for winter feet. I wish they had better showers, the outside ones are ok, but they only do cold water and there's no privacy. It would be nice for people who have to drive 3 hours home to be able to get a proper shower before doing so. The lazy river is pretty fast, so I don't understand the complaints about that, but it does get so many people in it that you can't really relax. I had closed my eyes briefly and when I opened them there was some stranger's feet in my face, lol! There were no waits for the slides but we went on a Monday. I'd think on a weekend it might not be so great. One big negative is they allow smoking. It's only supposed to be in certain areas but smoke e travels, and there were a bunch of people smoking near the lockers even though I don't think that's a designated area. I'd go back if they clean the changing areas and keep people from smoking inside. But as far as water parks go this place is really nice! read more

We had a great day at H2OBX! It's a great addition to the Outer Banks. There are slides and pools for all ages & risk levels. The lines were never very long and we were there from open to closing. We did notice a significant decline in guests at 5:30- there was hardly a wait for any ride. The staff was very polite all day and were very helpful to the younger kids. Lunch was great and selections diverse (chicken, pork BBQ, ham/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, pizza, nachos). They will fix a salad at Outer Banks Eats if you go over to the far right and ask (it's not on the menu). I highly recommend water shoes - the cement gets hot and is rough on your feet after a few hours. They have lockers that are easy to use and range in size. We got a medium for 3 people. The park is very nice & clean. The cabanas looked nice and the folks in them looked comfortable. The only things I'd recommend H2OBX to do is to add shoe stations at the various "neighborhoods" to allow people to wear flip flops through the park but take them off for rides, add hooks to the changing room area to keep clothes and bags dry while changing and add spinning bathing suit dryers to the changing area. read more

First time visiting the park. Went on a Tuesday PM for the after 3 special. They closed park around 4:30pm for the day due to weather. They gave us comp tickets to come back at any other time. We went back the next day at 10am. Got on all the big slides before it started to get really crowded. I had 19 and 16 your old children with me and we got through all the good slides a few times in 3 hours. Was mobbed by time we left so go early right at 10am or for the after 3 special. The only reason I am giving this place one star is because 1 that's the lowest possible rating and 2 the rides were okay. I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was 2 years old and I bring fruit snacks and juice boxes with me everywhere in case of a low blood sugar and that's all I was trying to do when entering the park. I explained to them if I go low I will pass out, go into a seizure, and will need to go to the hospital. If it gets serious enough it can send me into a coma. (all of which was thoroughly explained but thrown to the side). After I told them all of this the manager pulls the employee to the side and talks to them like I'm lying to them. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A HUMAN BEING WITH A MEDICAL ISSUE!! We booked a day here online with a cabana the week before our vacation. I booked it for our last day of vacation as well. Unfortunately it, rained and closed at 12pm. We arrived at 10:30am so did get a little time to play before they closed and we had such a great time. As we were leaving the workers explained to us that they could not do any rescheduling the same day, which made me nervous. The customer service was nothing short of AMAZING. Within 24 hours I was contacted by several of their service team members to make sure that I got my return visit tickets for next years vacation and refunded for the cabana that they could not book that far in advance. It was very family friendly with great options for smaller children. As a family with a preteen, 5 y/o and toddler they all had plenty to do. This is a great water park. It's not huge by any means but it's brand new so super clean, EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE was soooooo nice and helpful and there's something for everyone. The park includes bathrooms with changing areas, a locker rental area, plenty of food options, and even a gift shop. There are several cool slides from a large 4-6 person tube water slides, smaller 2 person tubed water slides, and several non tuned slides. There's a wave pool, a lazy river, a nice kids area, a water obstacle course, and a surfing/boogie boarding area. They're also limiting the number of guests that they will admit so take advantage of that while it lasts. No long lines for anything really! Also plenty of covered and uncovered seating with options to rent a larger cabana area for the day. read more
