At my recommendation, my son and his girlfriend went here after a day of touring in D.C…read more. Apparently, they ordered the blue crab, mac & cheese, and chicken wings. Both reported, it was an outstanding choice. They enjoy the time before they took the Metro back home. There are no complaints about the service, and they didn't really mention what the place looks like. But it could not have been too bad. They did say, it was clean and nice in the 22-year-olds that's a compliment. They also said it was convenient to get to the metro from there.

I won't be back unfortunately and you should probably keep walking and find something else. Runners just do that. Run around the restaurant throwing food down on tables and run back to the kitchen. Never checking on anyone to see if they need anything and how the food is. I ordered the SW Salad ($16.50) with a steak add on ($9.00) at medium temp. I also ordered a cup of Clam Chowder ($5.95) as an appetizer. Chowder came out pretty much right on top of my salad, but no big deal. Chowder was decent taste, but only found one clam. Ok whatever. Salad came out looking like a side salad on a large plate with five slices of rare, tough steak. It was so rare, that it was extremely hard to cut through, but again, who was I going to talk to about it. No wait staff would even look my way. I couldn't even get a refill on my water and there is no place in the app to order a glass of water...so that's that. Unfortunately it was just an extremely bad experience for $40. I'll be looking for dinner somewhere else tomorrow night.

Great local bar with large rotating craft beer selection. Highly recommend for any beer…read moreenthusiast. They have wine and cocktails as well. They are happy to recommend beer for your taste, and let you sample. It can be very busy and difficult to get a seat at the bar or get a table on a Friday or Saturday evening. We ordered food, and were expecting elevated bar food. The tater tots were a huge disappointment- they were very large squares , bland, and not crispy. The wings were okay. The cheeseburgers were the best- from the restaurant downstairs- mallard. Huge burger, done perfectly medium.

I understand not really putting crab, since most crab rangoons skimp on that (although it's disappointing for the cost), but to not put more than a tiny smear of cream cheese and to have hardly any sauce too? It was so dry, it really made me sad. Neither of those ingredients are expensive enough to justify being stingy. The concept alone should have made this a home run, but it was like if you bit into a crab rangoon and it was empty. I hope this was an off night because the amount they charged for what was basically just a slice of bread was shocking. It's spacious and seems like a fun place to hang out but I am really hesitating to order food here again despite adoring Mallard downstairs. The food quality is like night and day.

Before entering, Right and Proper had me won over with their outdoor mural paying homage to Duke Ellington and a who's who of local DC jazz heroes. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

We have been here a couple of times when my husband is on a Clinical Congress in D.C. Yesterday's dinner was a disappointment. The Rib eye steak was not the quality we expected. It was too fatty not marbled. Service: Our waiter was great. He was attentive and polite. Our concern was the receptionist or the management. When we dine at Ebbit Grill, we were there for the ambiance. Yesterday, we walked in to dine without a reservation and waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be seated. To our surprise we were taken to the courtyard seating outside!! There were vacant tables available for 2 in the main dining as we walked by. We asked if we can be seated in the main dining but they refused because we didn't have a reservation and were told we had to wait another 30 minutes!!! Eating outside in the courtyard wasn't what we expected. We were there for the experience and expressed this to them but to no avail. If they had told us upfront that we had to wait 2 hours to be seated in the main dining room, then we would had left and chose another restaurant. Perhaps, next time you're busy, consider mentioning that customers may be seated outside. We were extremely disappointed at how they handled this and left a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended)for the restaurant. Seating outside lost its appeal and charm. Ambiance: loud!!

I sat outside on the patio. To start, I got the calamari appetizer. Yall! Their calamari is so freakin good! The remoulade sauce that comes with it just takes it to the next level. I got the crab cake entree and it was just what I needed. I recommend replacing the tartar sauce with their remoulade sauce. The Tea Time mocktail was very refreshing. The service was good. The only downside is that there was an issue with the gift card that I won from their social media page. After some back and forth, they eventually honored it and all was well. But this experience was definitely better than my past experience, so I'm adding a star.

Aaron did his job- nothing beyond that and nothing memorable- just his job and that's fine. My only issue with the evening is Aaron did nothing to acknowledge the reason we came to The Hamilton. I thought- well we changed the time of our reservation so he didn't know? I shared the information with another server privately to inform Aaron and watched the server tell Aaron the news and surprisingly- Aaron still did nothing.. not even say "Happy Birthday". I was a bit disappointed by this. We closed up and carried on with our evening. The food was exceptional and the service was FAST! We enjoyed the evening overall and I'm happy I chose this location.

Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! I had the blue cheese and black truffle cheeseburger, with bacon, and it was good. . Very good. I could not identify or really pinpoint where the black truffles came in, but the beef was well seasoned. The additions were a dollar too expensive across the board so I skipped those. The fries were sort of stereotypical, nothing really fancy about those. I debated about having the truffle fries, but didn't really wanna pay the extra three dollars. Bless my server, he didn't know what black truffles were, either. The Reesie's peanut butter cup Skrewball milkshake was quite good. Good use of Skrewball. Could've done with a little more alcohol, but what a great combination. Good taste. Vanilla ice cream and peanut butter all the way through. My only .. concern.. were the pickles. There's this NoVA chain restaurant that serves POPCORN before the meal, which I think has to be the most depressing, unappetizing, lazy and cheap way to start a meal. Capital Burger servers sliced sweet pickles in a jar. That.. is a step up from popcorn, but not by much... If I was in the mood for a burger and boozy milkshake, this would be on the list, but not my first choice.
